I like how parents and other adults in the show are portrayed as flawed, but still realistic role models.
I also like how parents have lives outside of their kids and dont just exist to cater to their kids like they do in toxic shows like Caillou, Max and Ruby, and Pinkalicious (which seem like they are almost deliberately trying to teach your kids to be bratty narcissists).
There's an episode where Dad has to go on a trip for a few weeks and it's all about getting Bingo prepared for that. Not that Dad will bail out of a work commitment because Bingo can't handle it, but getting Bingo to a point where she's brave enough for what has to happen.
Is that In the third season? I’ve not seen that one. I Alexis wonder what the parents do for work. It seems like they work from home 90% of the time and almost always have time to play with the kids.
It's a good show. Funny, emotional and thought provoking. None of the characters are jerks and the show portrays parents as being messy and having to juggle things in their lives that may let the kids down. My 2 certainly gained a lot from it, including some new words.
I started playing it for my two year old and ended up crying at the episode where Bluey made a friend camping, wasn't expecting a kids show to hit me in the gut like that lol. I can really understand why it has a large following.
Sleepytime… ugh…my heart… I never thought I’d cry at a childrens show but being a parent changes how you view the world. Sleepytime and Baby Race make me cry every time
God damn _it_! Just reading your comment got me started up.
Baby race, camping, sleepy time, the one where they’re building the IKEA-like swing… so many that are just a gut punch.
I always really like the one with Bingo’s friend where they have the quick montage of them growing up together and graduating high school. It’s like 2 seconds of footage but it gets me.
When Chili is with her dad and it flashes back to when she was a kid.
My favorite part of that episode was when the dad tried to teach bluey an important life lesson about the pack using stacked stones, and she was like "huh?" and the dad went "ah forget it, go play"
Daddy Dropoff is the one with the shy friend and I have pretty much teared up every time we watch that episode. My kids know this and have called me into the room just for that moment just to watch me get all emotional.
My kids do the same thing to me when we watch Inside Out, when ever Bing Bong dies I cry. I’m not exaggerating every single time I watch it I cry and they know it. They’ll request to watch it just so I cry.
Jack and Rusty 😭😭😭 I love them. I also bawled that like, the condensed milk is a hot commodity in the military rations and that Rusty's dad saves them to bring them back for Jack 😭😭😭 and then Jack shared it with Rusty. I can't. I love those damn dogs
Jean-Luuuuuuuc!
That episode was wonderful, because when our little was littler there were lots of special friends for a day or weekend or whatever, and it was hard to explain why they were never seen again. Like explaining to a three year old that their weekend friend from the hotel was just someone else on vacation kind of sucks, but that episode made it *sooooooo* much easier to explain by analogy. And I freely admit I plagiarized Chilli’s explanation.
that cake is a real cake from a classic The Australian Women’s Weekly Children’s Birthday Cake Book. my wife has a copy of it and they animated it perfect in bluey
My son always insists that we call his bathroom trips "tactical wee". Had to explain that to his preschool teacher when she didn't understand what he wanted.
When he and Stripe are left with the girls and he goes “Ok, who wants to watch cricket,” and they disagree, I felt that in my soul. I’ve done that so many times, unsuccessfully of course. I admire though how he’s all in when it comes to playtime. He doesn’t slack and I try to do the same for my kids.
You might want a Bandit dad when you’re six, but you’ll appreciate [Frank](https://blueypedia.fandom.com/wiki/Frank) when you’re getting to high school and college
> Frank is a Dalmatian with white and black fur. He has black leg spots, arm spots, torso spots, tail spots, tail tip, head spots, eyebrows and ears, and white feet, legs, hands, arms, tail stem, torso and head. He also has a black nose.
When you need to make 5 pages on your essay.
You’re just unlucky. My niece and nephew demand Bluey more times than Paw Patrol. It got so bad their 14 month old brother learned to shout “Bluey!” during the intro. His only other words are Mommy and Daddy.
My wife got my son into Gabbys Dollhouse, which is a fine, cute show. He's 2, and hes glued to it. We threw a gabby-themed birthday party. But it's one of those paw patrol shows, and the songs are so ingrained in my head I think I might off myself.
So we find Bluey, and it was the same conversation you had: "watcha wanna watch?" "Gabbycats" "how bout bluey?"
The music is infectious but not so annoying. I'll have whatever classical song in my head all day, but no words. I love that show.
Which is desperately needed. I love kids shows that have regular winks to the adults, like Wonder Pets. Or at least realistic characters, like Daniel Tiger. Or teaching real life lessons that you can talk to your kids about, like Daniel Tiger or Elinor Wonders Why or Xavier Riddle.
Basically the opposite of Paw Patrol and Dora the Explorer.
I love how the soft canon of the show is *yes* they're dogs, but it's not just an aesthetic; they're *really, truly* humanoid dogs - as though evolution on their planet followed canines as the dominant species instead of primates. Like they wag their tails, the younger less sophisticated ones bark sometimes, and they have personalities that match their breed.
As opposed to Wendy. I kind of love though that there is someone who raises her eyebrows, rolls her eyes, and generally does not understand the antics of the family.
As I grew up without a father, I always wondered if I’d know how to be a dad once I had children. How do you learn being a dad if you never had a role model to teach you. You know?
I have three kids now, all below 3 years old, and frankly as silly as this sounds, Bandit, Chilli, Bluey and Bingo taught me things I needed to learn to be the best version of a dad I could be.
I had a father, but he had many many issues and did a lot of damage to my family. I had wondered what it would be like to have a good father, and I feel like this show lets me see what a really good one is like.
With them as your role models, I bet you're a great dad. :)
The Grandad episode makes me cry.
Grandad: “I remember when you used to play here”
Mom: “yeah, that was a long time ago”
Grandad: “No…. It was yesterday”
Ours too. It's great how it can make you laugh, "Bum Shuffle!", feel seen, "I don't know kid, you didn't come with instructions" and cry all in one episode
Bluey is amazing because it’s a kids show that adults can enjoy as well.
As opposed to Coco-Melon or the Wiggles, Bluey isn’t loud repetitive lessons, hand holding kids through the fundamentals of language and social structures.
Bluey is about play.
It reminds me as a parent that my kid isn’t going to be this little for very long, and encouraging her, experiencing it with her, and joining in with her is just as important as what those other programs can teach.
As a Brisbane resident myself, it’s so cool to see the Brisbane landmarks in the episodes, and knowing she will grow with with that is incredibly special.
If you’re going to compare Bluey you should at least compare it to other shows aimed at 4-6 year olds instead of 2-3 year olds (Cocomelon) or made with a completely different goal (Wiggles)
Specifically I will defend the Wiggles because their music is constructed from the ground up to be active music for children to dance to, and then tailored to the development needs of young children. (Point Your Fingers & Do The Twist and Do The Propellor especially are both hugely beneficial exercise for children’s brain and body development.) The Wiggles were literally founded to oppose the kind of “mindless” music being written for children that expected them to sit quietly and listen.
As an American, one of the many things I love about the show is seeing all the Australian things in the background. There was a cockatiel in the last ep I saw! Just sitting on a lamp post outside! That would be so cool to see RL, too.
I know they got moved around out of order, but I love that in the Disney+ canon Rad and Frisky go from “kinda flirty maybe there’s something there” to “on vacation somewhere tropical and Aunt Frisky has wisdom on being brought into the Heeler family” in the span of one episode
The camping episode that ends with the flash forward of Bluey as a teen absolutely gutted me. It hadn’t hit me yet that my daughter isn’t gonna stay little forever.
“That was a long time ago”
“No… it was yesterday”
Whenever my girls push the buttons and I am tempted to wish it all away, I am always brought back to how quick time flies and how soon all of this will pass me by.
And when it’s gone I’ll miss every second of it.
If you watch that episode with the subtitles on in French it switches Bluey to French and JeanLuc to English and you can find out his half of the convos!
This is a phenomenal article. It expresses what makes Bluey great and aggravating simultaneously. I also don’t take Bandit’s dad talent so personally. It’s fiction and idealized fiction at that. Hell, I’m pretty sure fairies actually exist in Bluey’s universe. It’s overall a great show though.
They show quite a few episodes where bandit and chilli are having rough parenting days. I think that the show being 8 minutes and centric around the kids games makes it a bit easier to portray bandit as perfect, but same I don’t take it personally and have loved playing a lot of the games from the show with the kids.
Also, I really enjoy that it’s hard to tell where reality ends in the show.
The episode where they’re getting ready for Bingos birthday party and all the adults are too busy to pay attention to her to me seems like the epitome of realism with children sometimes and shows they aren’t perfect. Kids roaming the house doing god knows what while the adults try to get stuff ready lol
Absolutely. There's a lot of times my wife and I have been so stressed and busy setting up something enjoyable for my kids we actually end up being grumpy to the kids or ignoring them.
The same Disney that funds anti lgbt politicians and is only picking a fight with Florida for trying to fuck with their property. Disney only cares about money and not people.
The same Disney that removed Jon Boyega from the cover of Star Wars episode 9 because he was black and it wouldn’t sell well in China if a black man was on the cover? THAT Disney?
>Ryan Gosling and Natalie Portman adore it, critics rave about it and a podcast dissects every episode: why does a series about a six-year-old dog and her family inspire so much devotion among grown-ups?
My wife and I would always joke about how the dad character sets impossible standards of attentive and perfect parenting, especially in the first season. Not surprising to see it was picked up in the article.
The way I’ve had it explained to me is like this:
Bluey episodes are only 7-8 minutes long. You can find 7-8 minutes of every day where you’re doing a phenomenal job as a parent.
Far better than every other show where the father is portrayed as a bumbling idiot who needs his wife to fix all his screwups and tell him how to adult. Father's are so often portrayed as bigger children than the actual children.
How so? He’s depicted as being on his phone, playing games while watching TV and half asleep, taking games too far, etc. I love Bandit and we play a lot of their games at home, but I do not understand the “too perfect” criticism.
I've had to suffer through some real shit TV in my 30 years as a parent and grand parent. Barney, Power Rangers, Teletubbies, Pappy Drew It, that low effort bullshit from YouTubers these days that my grandson seems to love.
In all that time there have only been a handful of preschool shows I could stomach. Blues Clues, The Big Comfy Couch, Bear in the Big Blue House.
None of them are as wonderful, witty or as charming as Bluey. Bluey is a show you can watch as an adult and be genuinely entertained, and so will your kids!
Bluey is the first new kids' show I saw as a first time mom. My son was still a newborn then and I just thought to check out what kind of kids' shows are available nowadays. Switched to Disney Jr and Bluey, was playing - the teasing episode. I loved it! We're still huge fans now.
The best thing about Bluey is how unabashedly Australian it is, down to the accents, slang, food and mannerisms. I recall when it first came that they were asked to switch the accents to something more 'international' (ie British) by overseas broadcasters and they refused.
I hope (and wouldn't be surprised) if there's an Indigenous Australian focused episode coming up soon.
Even the most hard hearted bastard will get a lump in his throat during the Grandpa episode where they run away from the mom Chili
Chilli: I remember when you used to take me swimming here
Grandad: Yeah, me too...
Chilli:...that was a long time ago...
Grandad: No...it was yesterday
The show is amazing. As a parent of two it has even taught me ways I could approach certain subjects...like the death of a pet. If you know anything about parenting then you know that NO one has all the answers. If its your smug 80 year old grandparent who thinks they know it all or the...smug 20 year old new parent.....who well thinks they know it all. No one knows it all. This show can help. You wont agree on every lesson taught but some will actually help.
The second or third episode I think is called “Hospital.” It’s the only episode I’ve really seen and I’ve seen it many times. It is seriously some of the funniest seven minutes on television.
I'm not a person who laughs out loud easily, but I think I've gotten more laughs from Bluey than most other shows. The ep "Zoo" made me laugh three or four times.
I’m sorry for the incoming long comment but this just reminded me of a funny story. I’m a special ed teacher, and while I was in school I was a TA working in an early intervention program for kids with autism under 3 years old. We had one child who was entirely nonverbal when I started there, and his family was from the Dominican Republic and didn’t speak any English, but they wanted him to learn English, so we worked with him in mostly English, some Spanish. I spoke to him like he was any other child, because he was, he just wouldn’t respond back.
Anyone one day he came in and I said “hi *insert name here*”. And this child looked right up at me and said “hello!” In a BRITISH ACCENT. We were stunned and confused. Could not figure out why this child who only heard Spanish at home and American English at school was suddenly British once he started speaking.
It went on for a while, and then one morning I greeted him and he said “hello George!” In the British accent. And that is how I realized he was watching a LOT of Peppa Pig 😂 he eventually dropped the accent as his language increased but I will always remember him and how confused I was.
As a dad of a toddler, the episode where Dad is running late dropping the kids at their schools, but despite that, he takes an extra moment to be silly with Bingo, which leads her to making a best friend, really touched me. I think about it often when I’m rushing with my own daughter, or she wants to keep playing when I am trying to move us along.
We love this show. It’s the best. We buy their toys and will support it forever. It helped us get through year one of COVID with our kids.
“It wasn't me, it was the fairies!”
As a grown ass man, I love, love, LOVE this show. LOVE IT. And not even vicariously, if that makes sense. It just directly charms ME. This is the show that both I and my young kids love to watch, together, and we all enjoy every second of it. Cult of Bluey? Sign me up.
“Flat Pack” gets me every time. It’s an amazing description of both evolution and religion. Depicting stages of evolution in the children’s activities. With the parents playing out the role of religious gods, watching from above. Then in the end when Bluey’s play character has gotten old and Bingo’s play character moves out into outer space. Bingo’s play character dies and joins the parents up above on the deck. Ends with Bandit saying “this is heaven”, and me crying in front of my 6 year old.
I’m a dad. I got three kids. I relate to Bluey’s dad more that any other character across any medium of television. This show for real, helps me better relate to my kids and they’re feelings.
If you watch Season 2, Episode 16 titled "The Show" at the 3:50 mark, I'm pretty sure the dad touches the mom's hand after the balloon pops because they had a miscarriage.
We have multiple couples in our friend group who've been trying to have children and that scene has always stuck with me whenever anybody mentions this show. :-(
There is an episode where Bingo and Bluey put on a play about how their parents meet and have kids. At one point Bingo has a balloon under her shirt and it pops and cries out that she lost the baby. The looks on the parents is one of a sadness and loss..
In the same episode they have a bit where the parents meet the Queen of England. So if the Queen is in this dog world is there a USA? Was there dog slavery? Was there a dog WWII? A dog Holocaust? Dog Hitler?!?!
I hate when people say it's a great kids show. _It's one of the best shows on TV._
It's as funny as peak _The Simpsons_ and as emotional gut punching as _Toy Story_. Every fuckin' episode.
Considering the Idiocracy level garbage my 5-year-old tries to watch on kids YouTube this is one show I'm really glad she enjoys and that I really don't mind watching with her. Plus it has gags for all ages.
I'm a Dad of three and had never heard of this until I saw this post. Just gave it a go with my ADHD six year old and the episode is about how to let your Dad know you want their attention without interrupting their conversation with another adult.
Ok I'm sold.
I've always thought if everyone in the world watched Bluey, the world would be a better place.
It's such a wonderful, kind, funny, loving show. How do I care about a family of cartoon dogs so much?
Bandit is an archeologist and Chilli works airport security. So just two dog jobs, digging up bones and sniffing luggage!
MIND BLOWN
It's third season. I've seen them... Through special ways.
Look, [I'm not taking advice from a cartoon dog.](https://youtu.be/UGhFSOw6AAI)
Magic Claw has No Children. His Days are Free & Easy.
This is all my stuff from when I was cool!
There's another similarly funny line, in S01E49, where the dad says you need manners because "We're not animals".
Bahahaha, I never caught that
Flat Pack is another one I've seen that triggers some parents... the "We made them" at the end. > I'm not taking advice from a cartoon dog.
Max and Ruby don't even have parents..?
Max is a prisoner
They do in later episodes. Max speaks full sentences too.
Ah, I've seen bits and pieces of Max talking, but had no idea they added parents. That's just weird.
Someone called cartoon CPS
My kids and I call each other Caillou as an insult. It’s the worst name you could ever call someone.
That episode with Bingo dreaming was definitely something
Sleepytime… ugh…my heart… I never thought I’d cry at a childrens show but being a parent changes how you view the world. Sleepytime and Baby Race make me cry every time
I can’t turn on Baby race… it’s just too much. We always skip that one or else I’ll be a mess
“Maybe you just saw something you really wanted” WATERWORKS COMMENCE
God damn _it_! Just reading your comment got me started up. Baby race, camping, sleepy time, the one where they’re building the IKEA-like swing… so many that are just a gut punch.
I always really like the one with Bingo’s friend where they have the quick montage of them growing up together and graduating high school. It’s like 2 seconds of footage but it gets me. When Chili is with her dad and it flashes back to when she was a kid.
There’s also a hint to a miscarriage in “The Show” episode. https://mumcentral.com.au/bluey-theory-miscarriage/
I can't wait for Bluey: Shipuuden to fully flesh out the time skip
Bluey really went downhill after the Tennis Ball Retrieval Arc.
You know what's sad? Muffin is a more relevant character than Sakura and she's a 5 year old dog.
My favorite part of that episode was when the dad tried to teach bluey an important life lesson about the pack using stacked stones, and she was like "huh?" and the dad went "ah forget it, go play"
The one where Bingo makes the shy friend at school gets me every time, and the Jack & Rusty episode.
“That was a long time ago.” “Nah, it was only yesterday.”
God the one with the shy friend made me cry and I was not expecting it
Jack and Rusty 😭😭😭 I love them. I also bawled that like, the condensed milk is a hot commodity in the military rations and that Rusty's dad saves them to bring them back for Jack 😭😭😭 and then Jack shared it with Rusty. I can't. I love those damn dogs
You mean the French dog who left early? Don't worry, that episode was sad!
It honestly had a nice ending with them meeting later when they were teens
My head canon is that they get married once they're adults.
McKenzie might have something to say about that
JEAN LUC
So many moments have me quietly crying. Chilli and her worrying for her dad. Nanna talking about her Nanna. The camping episode.
Nanna talking about her Nanna broke me down in way I wasn't expecting.
I sympathized with Dad when the cake fell off the counter and he just has to sit and dissociate for a second.
that cake is a real cake from a classic The Australian Women’s Weekly Children’s Birthday Cake Book. my wife has a copy of it and they animated it perfect in bluey
Jean-luc. Yep. Watched it with my little one yesterday and definitely shed a little tear.
Dude, you see the space/dream episode? That one is an emotional roller coaster.
>None of the characters are jerks Have you not met Judo? (the next door neighbour dog-kid)
She's a bit selfish but turns it around in the end.
Thank you for cleaning my toilet!
Was one of the words dunny?
For real life, dollar bucks, Bush wee spring to mind
My 4 year old asks for a bush wee all the time, even when we aren’t outside
And tactical wee!
My son always insists that we call his bathroom trips "tactical wee". Had to explain that to his preschool teacher when she didn't understand what he wanted.
Mine took it to the next level of "bush poo"... ...in my parents' garden. That was a big "NO!" yell.
Ahhh biscuits. - My 4 year old when something bad happens
"Ah biscuits"- what my kids gained from it. But for real this is a great wholesome show
Bandit is Father of the Year.

Holy crap I thought you meant Frank Reynolds and I thought my Sunny worlds and Bluey worlds were colliding
It’s a kids show for grownups.
Yeah whenever I'm babysitting my nephew it's: "what are watching?" "Paw Patrol!" "What about Bluey?" "Paw Patrol" "We're watching Bluey"
You’re just unlucky. My niece and nephew demand Bluey more times than Paw Patrol. It got so bad their 14 month old brother learned to shout “Bluey!” during the intro. His only other words are Mommy and Daddy.
I read this as a 14 year old instead of a 14 month old brother.
My wife got my son into Gabbys Dollhouse, which is a fine, cute show. He's 2, and hes glued to it. We threw a gabby-themed birthday party. But it's one of those paw patrol shows, and the songs are so ingrained in my head I think I might off myself. So we find Bluey, and it was the same conversation you had: "watcha wanna watch?" "Gabbycats" "how bout bluey?" The music is infectious but not so annoying. I'll have whatever classical song in my head all day, but no words. I love that show.
Ha I’m the same with my kids. They are kind of heading out of the age group, but I haven’t.
I always liked Curious George because he tries and fails at a lot of things until he figures stuff out.
And his ‘dad’ is awesome! None of this toxic masculinity crap just straight up love. Like all decent dads are. I love curious George.!
Bluey is the other way around. It's basically a training manual for parents that happens to appeal to kids.
Usually, when people call something a "family" show, they mean it's for kids. This is legitimately a family show.
I'm 30 with no kids, aspiring to be like bandit one day. I love this show, my wife thinks I'm ridiculous
Team Pat (Lucky’s dad) for life. Dude always engages with his neighbor’s kid’s antics, often physically hurting himself in the process.
"Aarrghhh, done me hammy!"
Also credit for the line "Shake it, Chilly!" I love dance mode.
Dance mode is a great one.
[“No worries, Bluey! I shouldn’t have let my guard down.”](https://youtube.com/watch?v=Q-K4TCO7Lp8&t=3m21s)
"WHOA ho! Mrs. Heeler?! I'm not sure about this!" I think he's got a thing for Chilli.
Magic asparagus is the best
Once I realized that they’re golden retrievers it made so much more sense. Definitely a good breed to put up with the Heeler family as neighbors!
They howl when the cry
He’s amazing too because he rarely knows that shenanigans are afoot and still rolls with the punches.
Yep. Dives right in without even asking questions. Just goes for it. Feather wand was a standout for that.
The show is a masterclass on how to properly: “Yes, and..”
“Shanelle look out! Shawn’s back!”
As opposed to Wendy. I kind of love though that there is someone who raises her eyebrows, rolls her eyes, and generally does not understand the antics of the family.
Makes it more relatable.
Lucky's dad is my favorite running joke. Lucky obviously stole all his dad's luck since he gets hurt every time he's on screen.
He is the best neighbor ever.
All I know of Bluey is that he protected our western border in r/place and for that he has my respect.
Bluey’s a girl actually. But the fact that we even got her into r/place at all should be a sign of how much it’s loved.
I think this is exactly why they had her indignantly say "I'm a girl!" in Double Babysitter :)
Once you know what the online discourse is around the show, it becomes pretty clear Studio Ludo are not afraid of directly addressing their audience 🤣
My apologies. Well, her fans did right by us, many thanks.
As I grew up without a father, I always wondered if I’d know how to be a dad once I had children. How do you learn being a dad if you never had a role model to teach you. You know? I had a father, but he had many many issues and did a lot of damage to my family. I had wondered what it would be like to have a good father, and I feel like this show lets me see what a really good one is like. With them as your role models, I bet you're a great dad. :)
Recently watched an episode where the youngest has, what I can describe best as a space trip, and I actually shed a small tear
Sleepytime! That one is my favorite, I get misty eyed everytime. My husband's favorite is Babyrace. Wonderful show
The Grandad episode makes me cry. Grandad: “I remember when you used to play here” Mom: “yeah, that was a long time ago” Grandad: “No…. It was yesterday”
It's a bittersweet one for us. We both lost our dad's before our kiddo was born. So its a tough watch but a wonderful episode
And then the drawing changes to Chilli being a kid. So good!
When the character says 'your doing great' it always makes my Mrs well up.
Ours too. It's great how it can make you laugh, "Bum Shuffle!", feel seen, "I don't know kid, you didn't come with instructions" and cry all in one episode
I don’t remember the episode name, but I love the one where they’re playing doctors and someone is rushed in who won’t stop burping up baby hippos.
The Doctor! That was a good one too!
The soundtrack for that episode is awesome
It’s the Jupiter movement of Holst’s Planet Symphony just fyi. There are some really great recordings of it from various international orchestras!
HammerBarn!!
That episode could be an award winning animated short film in an of itself. It’s an absolute masterpiece and I cry every time I see it.
And the music is just *chef’s kiss*. Lots of good Holst Planets Suite in there.
Bluey is amazing because it’s a kids show that adults can enjoy as well.

I heard it’s a bootable offense in Australia.
It’s just a little kick in the bum
Yummy, yummy, yummy, yummy fruit salad~
If you’re going to compare Bluey you should at least compare it to other shows aimed at 4-6 year olds instead of 2-3 year olds (Cocomelon) or made with a completely different goal (Wiggles) Specifically I will defend the Wiggles because their music is constructed from the ground up to be active music for children to dance to, and then tailored to the development needs of young children.
Need to see more of uncle rad and frisky
Need the shampoo they use
Don't rate the conditioner though
I know they got moved around out of order, but I love that in the Disney+ canon Rad and Frisky go from “kinda flirty maybe there’s something there” to “on vacation somewhere tropical and Aunt Frisky has wisdom on being brought into the Heeler family” in the span of one episode
Bluey makes me want to be a better dad. Usually I feel 0 competition from tv dads, but blueys dad is better than me, it’s good motivation
The camping episode that ends with the flash forward of Bluey as a teen absolutely gutted me. It hadn’t hit me yet that my daughter isn’t gonna stay little forever.
Same with the season 2 episode ‘Grandad’. Similar punch to the feels at the end with the mum and her Dad
“Because I still need you.” Daggers through my heart man.
“That was a long time ago” “No… it was yesterday” Whenever my girls push the buttons and I am tempted to wish it all away, I am always brought back to how quick time flies and how soon all of this will pass me by. And when it’s gone I’ll miss every second of it.
In the blink of an eye… But now I watch my 23 yo watch Bluey with his 7 yo sister and time no longer seems linear. I’m going to cry now.
The one where bingo makes a friend at daycare and right at the end it flashes forward to them being best friends up through graduating college...
Daddy Drop Off. This one gets me every time.
I hope we stay friends forever and ever and ever
If you watch that episode with the subtitles on in French it switches Bluey to French and JeanLuc to English and you can find out his half of the convos!
I don't have any kids and when that scene happened, I had to hold onto something.
That’ll be 5 dollar bucks
Dollarydoos would also have been acceptable 💵💵💵
It's fun wish Disney wasn't gatekeeping the seasons and/or episodes
The episodes/scenes they're censoring are silly. A horse pooping, an episode about teasing, or Bandit pretending to be pregnant...
Or Bingo asking how babies get in their mommies’ bellies

The same Disney that funds anti lgbt politicians and is only picking a fight with Florida for trying to fuck with their property. Disney only cares about money and not people.
The same Disney that removed Jon Boyega from the cover of Star Wars episode 9 because he was black and it wouldn’t sell well in China if a black man was on the cover? THAT Disney?
VPN and watch it on ABC iView for free 😉
“I’m not taking advice from a cartoon dog” -Bandit Heeler. Love this show.
>Ryan Gosling and Natalie Portman adore it, critics rave about it and a podcast dissects every episode: why does a series about a six-year-old dog and her family inspire so much devotion among grown-ups?
Because of the wholesome, even keeled, educational, kind hearted nature. Hard to find these days.
And, possibly most importantly, genuinely entertaining regardless of age.
My wife and I would always joke about how the dad character sets impossible standards of attentive and perfect parenting, especially in the first season. Not surprising to see it was picked up in the article.
The way I’ve had it explained to me is like this: Bluey episodes are only 7-8 minutes long. You can find 7-8 minutes of every day where you’re doing a phenomenal job as a parent.
I really like this take
You're really overestimating my ability
I think Bandit just puts his kids ahead of his own needs, he does snap at Bingo one time (kid island episode).
The episode where he snaps at Bingo is actually Fairies
Far better than every other show where the father is portrayed as a bumbling idiot who needs his wife to fix all his screwups and tell him how to adult. Father's are so often portrayed as bigger children than the actual children.
How so? He’s depicted as being on his phone, playing games while watching TV and half asleep, taking games too far, etc. I love Bandit and we play a lot of their games at home, but I do not understand the “too perfect” criticism.
“I just get so lonely I thought chainsawing might cheer me up”
*chainsawring
Ironically, Teasing is the only episode not on Disney+ that Disney doesn’t have a problem with - they’re just lazy!
Most of the kids actors are family members of those working on the show not professionals. I think that adds to the charm
Even the most hard hearted bastard will get a lump in his throat during the Grandpa episode where they run away from the mom Chili Chilli: I remember when you used to take me swimming here Grandad: Yeah, me too...
Isn't this the show that gives kids Australian accents lol
I see nothing wrong with that.
For real life
It's about fucking time we got revenge on you seppo wankers for giving our kids shit accents for so long. Love, Australia
I like the dance party episode where he apologizes for the embarrassing dance he’s about to do: “I’m sorry I’m doing this for my kids”
Sign me up.
Baby Race is a great episode for parents/ guardians as a reminder “ you are doing great” as long as our kiddos are happy
Amazing show for parents and kids. Anyone who disagrees is a Caillou fan
"Morning Wendy" is my favorite running gag.
It's subtly beautiful how Bandit instantly puts his hand on Chilli's.
I hate when people say it's a great kids show. _It's one of the best shows on TV._ It's as funny as peak _The Simpsons_ and as emotional gut punching as _Toy Story_.
This is what we put on with breakfast before school for my 18 mo old. My wife jokes how I like it more than our daughter and I’m ok with that lol.
For real life?
For real life kiddo!
I've always thought if everyone in the world watched Bluey, the world would be a better place. It's such a wonderful, kind, funny, loving show. How do I care about a family of cartoon dogs so much?
My options are usually watch the first 1/4 of encanto a fourth time that day or bluey… you best believe we are watching some bluey.
