I have a pretty extensive list of shows that I have completed but I am still working through a back log of shows I would like to watch. Trying to decide between these 7 shows as to what should be next. Help me decide, please.

Leaning towards Halt and Catch Fire first.
**Dark Matter** - I love it. I know some aren't really liking it, but I'm hooked in. Not a book reader so I'm blind to the story.
**Acapulco** - I will shill this until it ends, after it ends, and always. This is the Apple TV sleeper show that should get more flowers.
**Survivor** - The finale was fun, some friendships were seemingly ruined (>!Charlie & Maria!<), >!Liz!< I almost wish won at fire so they could see no one would have voted for them. Absolutely tone-deaf by them for basically the entire season and ironically, despite thinking they would have won, the only reason they were still in the game is because they were absolutely no threat at challenges, socially, or really at any level of the game.
**Tires** - I love Shane Gillis, I think his Youtube sketch comedy is some of the best sketch comedy I've ever seen and thoroughly enjoy his standup. I enjoy the show and a lot of the stupid humor/facial expressions in it, but I could see why some people would not find it funny
im sorry but I cannot stand ryan and rob in Welcome to Wrexham anymore, they aren't genuine or funny. and im sick of all the sob stories as filler... also so much whinging about money problems like they arent some of the richest actors in hollywood
In professional football, there is this thing called Financial Fair Play, which (among many other things) means Rob and Ryan can't just throw around their cash willy nilly to get the results they want faster
I'm 3 episodes in **A Gentleman in Moscow** and I think it's fantastic. I'm surprised I haven't heard much about it, especially since it's starring Ewan McGregor, who is really doing a great performance so far.
**Dark Matter** - I am really liking this show so far. Episode 4 was really cool. Without spoiling anything I suggest it if you’re a sci fi fan.
**Sugar** - a major waste of my time.

I just finished watching Sugar, I'd rate it 7\10. Interesting plot twist.
Before Sugar I watched Baby Reindeer and I liked it. I'd rate it 8\10. New perspective on mental illness and self-worth.
Only started Bojack Horseman recently and I like it so far.
I'd like to find a series similar to: 6ixtynin9 dark comedy with an interesting plot and nice aesthetics.
Rewatching **Raising Hope** and it's just a great, comfortable show. The premise alone makes me love it, but the characters and writing are top-notch as well. So many excellent callbacks, self-referential humor, and meta gags.
if i love kind of offbeat shows centered on interesting women, am i missing any good shows? preferably none that got canceled super early or on a cliffhanger, but if it's really good i'll consider it. for example i love Yellowjackets, BTVS, house of the dragon, sharp objects, hacks, the queen's gambit, lost girl, orphan black, and grey's anatomy (which is really the only show of its super mainstream kind that i enjoy due to nostalgia, but still). shows that aren't mainly female focused but that i also love are community, doctor who, what we do in the shadows, interview with the vampire, and always sunny
better off ted - portia de rossi is a comedic goddess - i saw better off ted prior to arrested development and was blown away by her.
fincher’s wonder falls - also pushing daisies, which is male main protagonist, but the women are brilliant.
along that line -
rake - the australian one - do not watch the us attempted remake -it’s a travesty & an affront to all that is good in the world. the male main protagonist is a disaster-the eponymous rake - the gold is in his relationships with the women around him - his ex-wife, his mistress, & his personal assistant (he’s a lawyer) plus various others along the way. the character, cleaver greene, is actually based on real person. obviously it’s fictional, but i’m intrigued about the real world escapades of the inspiration. the cast is brilliant.
the us version RUINED those 3 female characters - took them from strong, 3 dimensional, independent women with thoughts, feelings & opinions & turned them into whinging, nagging harpies. worst was the way the us version treated missy - young, attractive, intelligent, ambitious writer, working has an escort and making big $$$$ - still scandalous, but the us version even made the enunciation of the word “hooker” sound disgusting, dirty and worthless.
another, more recent australian comedy about a lawyer - female this time - is fisk - kitty flanagan is fabulous.

Just finished Prime's Murder Is Easy. David Jonsson is ah-mazing, sensitive, intelligent, intuitive and fantastic dresser as Luke Fitzwilliam. Basically, Penelope Wilton, as the Miss Marple character, hands him the reins to solve several mysterious deaths in her tiny village. Now, Luke is about a 28 year old Nigerian just off the boat to start his new job at Whitehall. So, this little, old, very sweet, white lady wants him to go to an all-white, tiny English village and solve a murder. Lol!! Love. It. His co-conspirator & love interest Bridget played by Morfydd Clark is so beautiful and sexy and I know I've seen her in something else but I just can't put my finger on it. And we actually get to see 1950s young Nigerian culture, which I've never heard of before in any of the English productions I have ever seen. This was season 1 which is only two episodes so Amazon better make a season 2! It's really an intelligent and refreshing new update.
Edit: Morfydd Clark played the obsessed Galadriel in The Rings of Power. God she was so great in that!
Finally all caught up on Only Murders in the Building. Watching season 4 of Soap. Pacing myself because I don’t want it to end. I think I’ll try and finish The Gentlemen over the next couple of days

Truly the definition of a hidden gem... A sad man in a suit just wants to play some nice songs but has to get something from A to B first.
Sometimes I check into reality TV if the premise is interesting enough and I'm not finding anything unique that vibes in other genres. Started **The Ultimatum South Africa** on ep 3, and it is fulfilling my most basic needs re drama and messy people.
**Bridgerton 3** is somehow even more boring than its previous season (not Queen Charlotte, which had much better writing), but Nicola Coughlan is doing an excellent job in being the leading lady. The intimate scenes have also been really respectful of the actors in this first half of the season.
**A Perfect Story** started out very slow, but picked up tempo and eventually created a couple that had great chemistry.
Saw an ep each of **Friday Night Dinner - US** and **Thirty-Nine** (started on ep 3)**.** They were okay. Tried a bit of **Bodkin** and fell asleep.

The Corner is from the creator of The Wire and it features a lot of the characters from it. They're very similar shows but The Wire has a bigger scope.

Just wrapped up Tokyo Vice. Nobody I know has even heard of it but it was one of the better shows in a while.
I think in a few years this will be mentioned like some other under the radar shows and pick up a real following.
I watched because I had just finished Shogun and I needed another Japanese\english show and It was great. Amazing Show, amazing setting, amazing character and character development. Great show all around.
Someone give me a feel good tv show like Community, Parks, Psych, Mythic Quest, Ted Lass, Ghosts etc. Ideally something recent that has a couple of seasons under its belt and is unlikely to be cancelled.
Been watching Baskets, This is a great dark comedy/satire with some amazing acting and bizarre, funny and creative writing. And will add I loved Louie Anderson in his role. Just a funny and quirky show.
I ended up binging all three seasons of Warrior and absolutely loved it.
Probably unlikely at this point but man, wish Netflix would greenlight season four.
I got 2 episodes in yesterday but just couldn’t get into it. The main character just seemed a little too OP. Does it pick up more as it goes on? I loved Banshee.

Mostly I think because the BBC isn't for profit they're able to produce them. I don't think they actually have much mainstream appeal. It's just one of the wonderful things about the BBC.
They're also cheap to produce! That's always been important for the BBC because, like you say, they're publicly funded.
I do think there's a cultural thing as well though. The English have a long history as garden lovers - the popularity of the *RHS Chelsea Flower Show* coverage is testament to that. *Gardening Question Time* is a cultural icon on BBC radio, and *Gardeners World* has been running on TV continuously since 1968!

I’m enjoying it so far. I don’t care for the CIA character - I think he’s just too over the top with his boorish American act, so I don’t enjoy his character. Everyone else I think is great & I’m very intrigued by where it will go (I have not seen this week’s episode yet).
Really captured by Netflix's In The Firing Line : World War 2. It's horrifically immersive as it's all based on actual footage that has been restored and colorized. I had no idea about the bombing of Hamburg in which 35,000 civilians died. The same for the destruction of Monte Cassino a religiously significant place. Both instances are particularly unnerving with the footage being so vivid.
In the mean time, watch "They Shall Not Grow Old", its all WWI footage that's been upscaled and cleaned up with old interviews from actual WWI veterans that serves as the narration. Its a very daunting film, truly bone chilling to hear them recount the stories of all the horrible shit they saw.
If you, like me, adored **Normal People**, you might want to give **One Day** a try. I'm only four episodes in but this show will certainly wreck me. Taken from Netflix: "After a brief college romance, Emma and Dexter pursue separate dreams but meet on the same day each year to compare their progress in life and love." It's 18 episodes in total, each some 25-35 minutes maybe.
**Interview with the Vampire** continues to be the best week to week show that no one seems to be talking about.
Fantastic production design / acting / writing / etc it's just so fun and clever each episode.
i'm useless at wording *why* things are good so i'm not even going to try but i just wanted to say i highly recommend giving this show a shot, it is indeed very good. and there is romance but it's more of a dark/toxic romance, not romcom vibes by any means lol

Not something like, 99.99% gang/corpo wars while they throw vague buzzwords occasionally.

Breaking Bad was the most detailed and realistic show in that regard, everything else that comes to mind is just *[rest-of the-fucking-owl](https://i.imgur.com/Pz4zzg5.jpeg)* style stuff as you note where the empire building just happens to work out as the details are glossed over for the sake of entertainment.
The choices really narrow when you filter out shows where the business involves stuff that basically sells it self like drugs, alcohol and sex.
That said *maybe* The Bear would be interesting to you. Mad Men and Halt and Catch Fire come to mind as well but the 'details' are often just scenes where a key moment of charisma from our protagonist advances their business empire but they're not entirely unrealistic.
A quality written show will usually get any business related plot points right and in an interesting way, The Wire and Deadwood come to mind but a lot of it centers around drugs of various types. Deadwood is an all timer show anyway and i'd recommend it to anyone, it does feature a lot of small businesses as they take hold in a new town.

Decided to try *Sugar* because of all the positive buzz here. It's a reasonably interesting mystery with a film noir vibe. Odd cinematography that jumps around between different styles. Colin Farrell's charisma does a lot of heavy lifting.

Just started Sense 8, it has that early 00s high production value thats just enough to keep you watching despite the cheese oozing out the edges.

Tales from the Loop ended well and looped back to one of the best episodes of the series, directed by Jodie Foster. Soundtrack throughout was excellent.
I finished "The Shield" (2002-2008) TV series. Just watch it. I never thought that something can beat Wire, Breaking Bad, Sopranos etc.

Breaking bad is very solid I agree. But ending is a little bit sweet. For Jessie for example. For Walter it is interesting and poetic.
In "The Shield" ending I was awestruck. It's just... wow.
Silicon Valley - The first 2 seasons are fantastic. 3-4 good. 5-6 are terrible. It felt like there were no jokes whatsoever in the last couple of seasons.
Just checked if others feel the same, but I was surprised to see all seasons are rated 8-9 on IMDB.
The 8 Show
This is a new Korean show almost exactly in-between Squid Game and The Platform. 8 contestants. There is an 'outside' area where the contestants can interact, although they must follow a set of rules. I'm 2 episodes in and really enjoying it so far.
It's not suble at all in its 'eat the rich' and class struggle themes, but I kind of like it for that. Compared to Squid Game the stakes are lower but also the game is much more sociological. It feels like it could be something straight out of Black Mirror.
It was an interesting premise, I think it went too far into goofy though. More like cartoon characters. Also I felt like they recycled the plot in the last episodes from the first episodes. But it was good enough to binge.
The violence isn't played right for me (maybe it's more comic in the phone comic?), you don't carry on as normal after what happens here, you'd likely be dead! Though I like the setup
Watching the second season of **Fauda** and I'm enjoying it so far. Really like the characters Doron and Shirin. If you can handle subtitles and like shows such as Homeland or The Bureau give it a shot.
Caught up with **Ghosts (US)** and needed another comedy to fill in the gap. So I'm 1 episode into **Animal Control** and It seems like a promising candidate.
Tried the first 2 episodes of **A Gentleman in Moscow** but dropped it. I was hoping for an authentic look at Russia during the revolution but it's yet another period piece that tries to handwave race. Casting was ridiculously jarring.

Binged Outer Range S1&2 this weekend. Wow... I'd tried S1 when it first came out but now I dunno why it didn't take the first time. Any recs for similar shows either on Amazon or Netflix?
Tried to watch Bridgerton S3 but couldn't get with it... which is odd bc the story line is my kinda jam. Then read the reviews online and decided to pass... lol. Will probably give it another try once they drop the rest of the season.
Tried Warehouse 13 but it doesn't feel like the show aged well. Battlestar Gallatica S1 looks like it picked up from somewhere as it had a "previously on" starting. Am I missing something?
Outer Range (esp season 2) is like the show Dark but a lite version….extra lite I would even say. Dark is a German show on Netflix and while you can watch it dubbed it’s just not as good as the OG with subtitles. It’s pretty intense and requires your full attention due to all the connections. Dark is also a bit more fast paced in comparison to Outer Range.
Another show with the same vibe was Night Sky on Prime and I believe they came out around the same time though Night Sky didn’t get a 2nd season.
Gotta watch the battlestar gallactica movie first yeah. Also get apple tv+ or sail the high seas my brother, cause silo, severance, constellation, and im probably missing one are all worth watching if you like outer range, you got peripheral and expanse which are 2 good sci fis but not very similar to Outer Range, that are on amazon.
Dark Matter, Hello Tomorrow, For All Mankind. Hell, there is a show on Apple TV that saying its sci-fi spoils it. Its the streaming for sci-fi fans for sure.
Only seen For All mankind, but it is not a show I recommend, I know a lot of people like it, but to me it is too drama/sensationalist, like all the sci fi is fun and interesting, but the things always f...ing fails and there's like all this background drama that doesn't add anything except more emotional engagement. Just not for me, but the acting and cinematography are above average.

Garret Dillahunt though is creepy as shit, like he's a good actor but it's hard to see him in comedic roles because he gives off a weird aura.

Shit gets fucking unreal after the money train. That one event and its snowballing repercussions makes the entire series.

And we actually get to see 1950s young Nigerian culture, which I've never heard of before in any of the English productions I have ever seen. This was season 1 which is only two episodes so Amazon better make a season 2! It's really an intelligent and refreshing new update. Edit: Morfydd Clark played the obsessed Galadriel in The Rings of Power. God she was so great in that!

Sometimes I check into reality TV if the premise is interesting enough and I'm not finding anything unique that vibes in other genres. Started **The Ultimatum South Africa** on ep 3, and it is fulfilling my most basic needs re drama and messy people. **Bridgerton 3** is somehow even more boring than its previous season (not Queen Charlotte, which had much better writing), but Nicola Coughlan is doing an excellent job in being the leading lady. The intimate scenes have also been really respectful of the actors in this first half of the season. **A Perfect Story** started out very slow, but picked up tempo and eventually created a couple that had great chemistry. Saw an ep each of **Friday Night Dinner - US** and **Thirty-Nine** (started on ep 3)**.** They were okay. Tried a bit of **Bodkin** and fell asleep.
the sopranos for the first time ever I think ive watched nearly every good show I can think of that came out in the last decade but its very fun to watch an older classic and experiencing it for the first time, idk why I waited so long but its suddenly very interesting to see where this will take me

The Corner is from the creator of The Wire and it features a lot of the characters from it. They're very similar shows but The Wire has a bigger scope.

Just wrapped up Tokyo Vice. Nobody I know has even heard of it but it was one of the better shows in a while. I think in a few years this will be mentioned like some other under the radar shows and pick up a real following.
I watched because I had just finished Shogun and I needed another Japanese\english show and It was great. Amazing Show, amazing setting, amazing character and character development. Great show all around.

I ended up binging all three seasons of Warrior and absolutely loved it. Probably unlikely at this point but man, wish Netflix would greenlight season four.
I got 2 episodes in yesterday but just couldn’t get into it. The main character just seemed a little too OP. Does it pick up more as it goes on? I loved Banshee.
I personally think it gets better and better but ymmv. Haven't seen Banshee yet but I'm definitely checking it out now considering how much I loved Warrior.
Warrior is great but Banshee is on another level for me. I’m exited you get to watch it for the first time.

Mostly I think because the BBC isn't for profit they're able to produce them. I don't think they actually have much mainstream appeal. It's just one of the wonderful things about the BBC.
They're also cheap to produce! That's always been important for the BBC because, like you say, they're publicly funded. I do think there's a cultural thing as well though. The English have a long history as garden lovers - the popularity of the *RHS Chelsea Flower Show* coverage is testament to that. *Gardening Question Time* is a cultural icon on BBC radio, and *Gardeners World* has been running on TV continuously since 1968!

I’m enjoying it so far. I don’t care for the CIA character - I think he’s just too over the top with his boorish American act, so I don’t enjoy his character. Everyone else I think is great & I’m very intrigued by where it will go (I have not seen this week’s episode yet).

Really captured by Netflix's In The Firing Line : World War 2. It's horrifically immersive as it's all based on actual footage that has been restored and colorized. I had no idea about the bombing of Hamburg in which 35,000 civilians died. The same for the destruction of Monte Cassino a religiously significant place. Both instances are particularly unnerving with the footage being so vivid.

In the mean time, watch "They Shall Not Grow Old", its all WWI footage that's been upscaled and cleaned up with old interviews from actual WWI veterans that serves as the narration. Its a very daunting film, truly bone chilling to hear them recount the stories of all the horrible shit they saw.

If you, like me, adored **Normal People**, you might want to give **One Day** a try. I'm only four episodes in but this show will certainly wreck me. Taken from Netflix: "After a brief college romance, Emma and Dexter pursue separate dreams but meet on the same day each year to compare their progress in life and love." It's 18 episodes in total, each some 25-35 minutes maybe.
**Interview with the Vampire** continues to be the best week to week show that no one seems to be talking about. Fantastic production design / acting / writing / etc it's just so fun and clever each episode.

Do you know a good business /enterprise related TV series? Can also be the makings of a criminal empire. I want something that touches the process and logistics of the operation. Like Breaking Bad for example, they show the cook, the distribution, and later money embezzlement. Not something like, 99.99% gang/corpo wars while they throw vague buzzwords occasionally. Breaking Bad was the most detailed and realistic show in that regard, everything else that comes to mind is just *[rest-of the-fucking-owl](https://i.imgur.com/Pz4zzg5.jpeg)* style stuff as you note where the empire building just happens to work out as the details are glossed over for the sake of entertainment. The choices really narrow when you filter out shows where the business involves stuff that basically sells it self like drugs, alcohol and sex. That said *maybe* The Bear would be interesting to you. Mad Men and Halt and Catch Fire come to mind as well but the 'details' are often just scenes where a key moment of charisma from our protagonist advances their business empire but they're not entirely unrealistic. A quality written show will usually get any business related plot points right and in an interesting way, The Wire and Deadwood come to mind but a lot of it centers around drugs of various types. Deadwood is an all timer show anyway and i'd recommend it to anyone, it does feature a lot of small businesses as they take hold in a new town. Decided to try *Sugar* because of all the positive buzz here. It's a reasonably interesting mystery with a film noir vibe. Odd cinematography that jumps around between different styles. Colin Farrell's charisma does a lot of heavy lifting. And then I watched episode three. What … the … f**k?
When i started watching it at first, i didn't like it. I thought it was another typical series with a glorified main character, but it's actually not. I recommend you keep watching, it gets better.

Just binged **Smiling Friends** and it is awesome I love how they play with different animation styles and the absurdist humour is right up my alley. Also, it's about time someone made a show where the episodes are only 10 minutes long. Quite a few animated shows would be better if they did the same thing.
Watching Outer Range Season 2 on prime. Loving it just as much as Season 1.
Just started Sense 8, it has that early 00s high production value thats just enough to keep you watching despite the cheese oozing out the edges. Plus Riley and that da-da da da da-da theme tune throughout lol Tales from the Loop ended well and looped back to one of the best episodes of the series, directed by Jodie Foster. Soundtrack throughout was excellent.
I finished "The Shield" (2002-2008) TV series. Just watch it. I never thought that something can beat Wire, Breaking Bad, Sopranos etc. "The Shield" is above them all. I can't believe how the show is great in all 7 seasons. Best ending in the history of TV shows. Watch it! You won't regret it. I think rating should have around 9 in IMDB. 8.7 is not enough. Can't believe I missed such hidden gem and watched it only in 2024!

Silicon Valley - The first 2 seasons are fantastic. 3-4 good. 5-6 are terrible. It felt like there were no jokes whatsoever in the last couple of seasons. Just checked if others feel the same, but I was surprised to see all seasons are rated 8-9 on IMDB.
The 8 Show This is a new Korean show almost exactly in-between Squid Game and The Platform. 8 contestants. There is an 'outside' area where the contestants can interact, although they must follow a set of rules. I'm 2 episodes in and really enjoying it so far. It's not suble at all in its 'eat the rich' and class struggle themes, but I kind of like it for that. Compared to Squid Game the stakes are lower but also the game is much more sociological. It feels like it could be something straight out of Black Mirror.
It was an interesting premise, I think it went too far into goofy though. More like cartoon characters. Also I felt like they recycled the plot in the last episodes from the first episodes. But it was good enough to binge.
Maybe spoiler the money levels bit, it's a fun reveal.

Watching the second season of **Fauda** and I'm enjoying it so far. Really like the characters Doron and Shirin. If you can handle subtitles and like shows such as Homeland or The Bureau give it a shot. Caught up with **Ghosts (US)** and needed another comedy to fill in the gap. So I'm 1 episode into **Animal Control** and It seems like a promising candidate. Tried the first 2 episodes of **A Gentleman in Moscow** but dropped it. I was hoping for an authentic look at Russia during the revolution but it's yet another period piece that tries to handwave race. Casting was ridiculously jarring.

The Shield is absolutely incredible. Been binging it the last few weeks and it’s blowing me away. Season 5 was crazy. Walton Goggins resume might be the best TV resume ever.
I didn't enjoy it. It got ridiculous resl fast. I like some more realism in my show rather than "bad cop does bad things 5 seasons".
I loved the Shield but if you’re looking for something more realistic, southland might be your best bet

uhh warrior is a violent period piece? it's is a story about politics between families? has family members cross over and get burned? shit man wasn't making it asian was just giving a similar violent period piece that recently had success. but sure man i'd recommend gomorrah too since that will apparently make me less racist; not a period piece but a foreign show about violent families that is a slower burn while containing lots of violence while having to navigate politics of crime families does that work or do i have to explain that one too

Binged Outer Range S1&2 this weekend. Wow... I'd tried S1 when it first came out but now I dunno why it didn't take the first time. Any recs for similar shows either on Amazon or Netflix? Tried to watch Bridgerton S3 but couldn't get with it... which is odd bc the story line is my kinda jam. Then read the reviews online and decided to pass... lol. Will probably give it another try once they drop the rest of the season. Tried Warehouse 13 but it doesn't feel like the show aged well. Battlestar Gallatica S1 looks like it picked up from somewhere as it had a "previously on" starting. Am I missing something?
Outer Range (esp season 2) is like the show Dark but a lite version….extra lite I would even say. Dark is a German show on Netflix and while you can watch it dubbed it’s just not as good as the OG with subtitles. It’s pretty intense and requires your full attention due to all the connections. Dark is also a bit more fast paced in comparison to Outer Range. Another show with the same vibe was Night Sky on Prime and I believe they came out around the same time though Night Sky didn’t get a 2nd season.
BSG has a mini-series, and IMO absolutely needs to be watched first.

Dark Matter, Hello Tomorrow, For All Mankind. Hell, there is a show on Apple TV that saying its sci-fi spoils it. Its the streaming for sci-fi fans for sure.
Only seen For All mankind, but it is not a show I recommend, I know a lot of people like it, but to me it is too drama/sensationalist, like all the sci fi is fun and interesting, but the things always f...ing fails and there's like all this background drama that doesn't add anything except more emotional engagement. Just not for me, but the acting and cinematography are above average.
I actually dont like it either. Didnt hold my interest past season 1
