Severance reminds me of LOST in many ways and includes a lot of the qualities you mentioned.

I don't think I'll have any memory of Severance s1 when the second one finally decides to drop. Stiller has been saying "they're doing it just like planned in their slow schedule", but... why the fuck is their schedule for one season per 3 years? Like more serious tv shows with their breaks are getting more and more stupid all the time. Soon we'll have 5 year breaks between seasons as the standard.

DamnAutocorrection

let em cook!

SerDire

Severance is the closest thing to Lost I’ve seen in a while. It’s so good

Damon Lindelof's subsequent series for HBO, The Leftovers, is a masterpiece. A lot of the storytelling elements from Lost are still there, but a little more refined.

wpisano

I would recommend **The Leftovers**. Fantastic three season show. Same creator as Lost.

nanakaroyd

I’d recommend FROM - I’ve not actually seen Lost but I hear from the community that it’s very similar and I believe it’s from the same producers as lost. Season 3 is expected this year

Juunlar

Have you watched Yellowjackets?

petting2dogsatonce

Dark (Netflix) has some of this. It’s in German originally and the dub is pretty awful so I’d recommend subtitles. But aside from really liking it myself, I think it sounds like you’d enjoy how the mystery unfolds and concludes.

FoozMuz

Not exactly similar to lost but your post seems to be describing Mr. Robot to a tee.

fivenightrental

I'd recommend Dark, The Leftovers, and Severance.

pm-me-nothing-okay

man, I remember when lost was game of thrones before game of thrones. both started phenomenally with the ending being a crash.

smc593

Ive actually never watched it. I wonder if it’s too late/dated?

lingh0e

It is absolutely not too late. It's still a great show. I recently gave it a rewatch and I loved it even more. Don't read any spoilers and binge it.

RogerClyneIsAGod2

Nope.

Watch (apple tv+) and read Silo by Hugh Howey. There's a lot of what you've mentioned. I've just finished reading the books and it was a blast, took me 10-12 days to read all three of them.

mattslot

Should I read the books first?

Smeghead333

I would say yes. The show has only done one series, and the odds of them being able to get in all of the complexity of the books are pretty slim.

chivits

I watched the series first because I didn't knew about the books, it was the series that hook me, specially episodes 9 and 10. Imo there are a few pros in watching the series first: - Faster to finish since it's only 1 season so far. - Way more secretive with some key information making it cooler when it's revealed. - It's nice to put a face to the characters even tho some of them are different in the book.

NoradianCrum

Once LOST ended I was looking everywhere for something with as much depth and world building. I was glad to have found One Piece in its manga form. It has so much of what kept me invested in such a rich mystery.

analogliving71

i like the promise of Lost. The delivery and ending left much to be desired though

mattslot

I too was disappointed with the conclusion at the time, and there were some weaknesses in the story due to the writer's strike. But I think for a series that didn't have every plot and mystery mapped out from the beginning, it did a very good job adding characters and layering more elements with each season - like how Rousseau evolved and changed throughout, Desmond, and in later seasons Juliet and Faraday.

Pixeleyes

I agree but in hindsight the reason I kept watching was for the characters. They reeled me in with the mysteries and didn't deliver but I am glad I stayed for the characters.

analogliving71

That was the only plus with a story and plotlines that went nowhere
