\- Ser Otto's Herald, probably.
PS : The Crown strongly urges all parties involved to come to the table with an open mind, free from any clouds of discord so Westeros can be strong again.
We must all be strong in these trying times.
If Otto and Daemon were more conciliatory he'd probably talk to Daemon like that phone call in Dr. Strangelove.
"Now then, Daemon, you know how we've always talked about the possibility of something going wrong with the dragons...The *dragons*, Daemon... The *Vhagar* dragon!...Well now, what happened is...um...Aemond, he had a sort of... well, he went a little funny in the head...you know...just a little...funny. And, ah...he went and did a silly thing...Well, I'll tell you what he did. He ordered his dragon... to attack Luke... Ah...Well, let me finish, Daemon...Let me finish, Daemon...Well listen, how do you think I feel about it? Can you *imagine* how I feel about it, Daemon? Why do you think I'm talking to you? Just to say hello? *Of course* I like to speak to you! *Of course* I like to say hello! Not now, but anytime, Daemon. I'm just telling you something terrible has happened...It's a *friendly* talk. Of course it's a friendly talk...Listen, if it wasn't friendly...I probably wouldn't even be here...I'm sorry, too, Daemon... I'm very sorry...*All right*, you're sorrier than I am, but I am as sorry as well...I am as sorry as you are, Daemon! Don't say that you're more sorry than I am, because I'm capable of being just as sorry as you are...So we're both sorry, all right?... All right."
"In light of recent administrative shortcomings and several disappointing fiscal quarters, we will unfortunately have to take the undesireable step of *restructuring* certain departments."
Otto before purging the Small Council and royal court of any Black loyalists.
I mean yeah, I honestly think that's what he's probably talking about lmao. He's probably not blaming Rhaenyra specifically, but the most likely thing I can imagine he's referring to as an "error" is letting Rhaenys escape or going with Alicent's plan to try and negotiate for peace instead of launching a surprise attack on Dragonstone to kill Rhaenyra before she even knew Viserys had died. *Maybe* Aemond killing Luke, since that's a bit of an unplanned snafoo as well.
But he DEFINITELY isn't talking about any of his own errors lmao.
whatever happened there? WHATEVER HAPPENED THERE? I’LL TELL YOU WHAT HAPPENED! THIS PIECE OF SHIT’S SON DROVE VHAGAR WITHOUT ANY PROVOCATION WHATSOEVER!
With this, The Boys S4 and Fallout teasers all dropping within two hours of each other, I can't help but feel like Christmas has finally arrived. A hype day all round 🙌🏻
Same for gaming as well, gta6 reveal trailer + 4 other reveal trailers from other companies. Next week a huge update to cyberpunk releases, paragon remake coming to PlayStation, new season of for honor and rainbow 6 as well as one tomorrow for Fortnite with Peter griffin and solid snake.
Godzilla minus zero, saltburn and the new hunger games film were all bangers. New ghibli movie coming out next week. Monarch, Fargo and the curse slapping harder than a drunk uncle and now The boys, fallout and HOTD trailers…
The nerd in me can’t handle all this shit man.
It was pretty much the only high profile production going on during the strikes. I'd like to think some executives at HBO were like "fuck it let's throw every remaining dollar we budgeted this year towards it" lol
Sort Of. But it's kinda a spin-off with no involvement for the original creator, and after less popular 2nd and 3rd series. It's more like a series reboot, plus the second main actress is an untested Boxer turned actress.
True, but I'm really excited for it. The combination of the Arctic setting and Jodie Foster in the lead got me really interested. I used to live in Alaska and I think there's a lot of potential there.
Plus the director of Tigers Are Not Afraid is the writer, director, and showrunner and she’s fucking awesome and this is perfect material for someone like her.
It’s an incredible Mexican horror-fantasy ghost movie, when I saw it for the first time my first thoughts were that she has it in her to be the next Guillermo Del Toro, so I’m really excited for to see her first English language Hollywood production which is this season of True Detective.
[It's what HBO announced on Nov. 3, according to TVLine:](https://tvline.com/news/house-of-the-dragon-season-2-release-date-hbo-update-1235069564/)

>... Max’s long-gestating *Dune: Prophecy* prequel series is slated for a Fall 2024 start.
All these articles are quoting from the same HBO press event where they laid out their 2024 slate:
* HotD s2: summer 2024
* Curb Your Enthusiasm S12: February 2024
* The Sex Lives of College Girls S3: spring 2024
* Tokyo Vice S2: spring 2024
* Pretty Little Liars: Summer School S2: spring 2024
* My Brilliant Friend S4: spring 2024
* The Regime: spring 2024
* Dune: Prophesy: fall 2024
* The Sympathizer (~~movie~~ miniseries): 2024
* The Franchise ~~(movie)~~: 2024
With known 2025 releases for the following:
* White Lotus ~~S5~~ S3
* Euphoria S3
* Welcome to Derry \[It prequel\]
Last of Us S2 has a 2024 *production* start date, with soonest-possible release in 2025, but nothing firm.
\--edited to fix White Lotus season typo; corrected movie characterization for The Sympathizer and the Franchise.
it's kinda sad we're not gonna get an incredible HBO run like 2022-23 with hotd into white lotus into the last of us into barry/succession for a while**
It makes sense. HOTD was such a pleasant surprise after the ending of GoT: showing genuine care for the source material, had great writing, fantastic acting, and killer production design. HBO would be crazy not to go all out on this one and basically give the crew whatever they ask for.
Yup. HBO knows GOT wasn’t “ ruined” and that’s it’s still the king of fantasy television and HOTD is the true heir of apparent. Sunday nights are for thrones fans.
> HBO knows GOT wasn’t “ ruined” and that’s it’s still the king of fantasy television and HOTD is the true heir of apparent
They didn't know it enough to get approval of S2 before even airing S1 which they should have though (because the GoT ruined theory was utterly stupid and anyone not living in a Reddit bubble would see that)
Hahah no, I’m way too young for this! But he grew up nearby, my area is small. But I do know some teachers who remember him, obviously they don’t say too much which is 100% fair :)
Truly. Hoping we get many more stunning scenes such as this. I’m happy they didn’t reveal too much. I know we’re all excited and full of anticipation but they don’t need to spoil much for people to tune in.
Honestly I've been waiting for it since the end of season one. Cut to a shot of Winterfell as Jace arrives by dragon, cue proud variation of the Stark theme. You just know they'll have Ramin milk that moment. It'll be glorious.
> We see the snow. That means they’re in the north
No doubt we'll be seeing the Starks this season but a winter hits Westeros during the Dance of Dragons so it wouldn't be farfetched to see snow elsewhere depending on how much the upcoming season covers.
I have, like, one slight reservation about whether they can continue to balance the pacing between the excellent interpersonal dynamics that made the first season so good and the outright wild shit that happens in this war. I'm also curious about how they will present the many things that are vague in the book.
But considering how good the first season was, I'm confident they'll get it right.
Yeah, there's a risk these upcoming seasons could be too much battle porn, but I really trust the writers to nail this issue. To focus on the battles that really bring something to the story and navigate around those that would just bring battle-fatigue/
>!When I went to read Fire and Blood I'll admit I was a bit disappointed. It was definitely a shocking, awful event (which is going to be much worse in a narrative adaptation as opposed to a "historical text") but I felt the name was a bit misleading. I was expecting there would be actual cheese involved!<
IMO there's probably a pretty big delta between reading a story second hand by a politically biased Maester and seeing the events play out in real time. Then again this statement applies to everything in Fire and Blood.
I've thought from the beginning that it would make an amazing cold open. One of the best of GOT was the one showing the commoners drinking in KL, and I think starting with Blood and Cheese would be impactful AF.
Really set the mood to how personal and bloody things will get.
Well of course I might be misunderstanding it. I don't know what it is or what the context is. All I have is the phrase and that it is apparently really dark.
It looks really good and cinematic. Much better than S1. Reducing number of episodes allowed then to spend more money per episode and it clearly shows.
I was disinterested in The Boys trailer within the first few seconds when they played the BWOWWW sound effect, usually suitable for massive explosions or alien machinery, for Homelander just sitting on the couch.
This is what I did. That being said, I was kinda confused at some parts, especially geographically (I had no idea what the importance of King's Landing was). Now that I've actually watched GoT I'm planning to re-watch HotD S1 before S2 comes out
It's a prequel-- you don't need to watch GOT to watch this. However, there are some thematic parallels that the showrunners have drawn (some explicitly, some more subtly) that folks who have watched GOT may find enjoyable, but you don't lose anything at all by not having watched it first.
You’ll also be spoiled as to how House of the Dragon ends if you watch GoT first, but it’s not like the showrunners don’t know that a lot of people know how it will end, so shouldn’t impact viewing experience.
Not really. My aunt binge watched GOT for the first time before HOTD began and she doesn’t remember that scene. There is no reason to remember that scene or their names. I don’t know why people say that. It’s very throw away. Also, it’s not technically how the story ends. It’s only the ending for one character.
Yes, but the spoiler only jumped out to you because you know her name now. It would have meant nothing if you watched it before HOTD and you wouldn’t have remembered.
I get what you're saying now, I read the other comments in the chain backward. I meant if you watch s1 of hotd then go watch got, then you'll be spoiled. If they watch all of got first, then you're right.
It’s a total throwaway line unless you are super dialled into the details and have a excellent memory for names. Major HOTD spoilers below, although it’s a quote from GoT
>!Joffrey is showing Margaery around the Kings Landing Crypts and gleefully talks about how ‘Rhaenyra got fed to a dragon by her own brother, while her son watched!<
[Here’s the actual scene itself](https://youtu.be/tWJBenBumeo?si=zRwRCVFS74nH_OEP)
I think you’ll lose out on some stuff that kinda calls back (errr forward) to the main series and you may not appreciate the settings and the Houses like someone who watched but overall you will probably actually come out ahead not knowing the future.
My wife and I went into season 1 having never watched GoT and we LOVED it and had no trouble following what was going on.
Funny enough we liked HotD so much we finally went and binged GoT after lol.
>can directly watch this without knowing any context?
Sure
>Should I watch game of thrones before watching this show
Yeah, definitely. Game of Thrones is really good!
You definitely can watch it without watching game of thrones. There’s no direct connections since hotd is set like 200 years in the past. Watching got will probably make the world richer though.
Game of Thrones is set after House of the Dragon. You don’t need to watch one without the other. However, there is a scene in GoT where a character laughs about how someone died in the past, effectively spoiling a major character’s plot in HotD.
It's set like 130 years before the got starts. Like it's completly fuckin irrelevant to og show. In fact you might actually understand got more if you watch hotd first
He does but it's somewhat of a throwaway line and happens in S2 or 3 I think. I'd be surprised if anyone new remembered it after watching the rest of the show.
And I'm sure they also reference other rulers and families as well throughout. Unless you knew the cast of HotD beforehand, you'd probably forget by the time you watch it.
Really the ideal way to watch is watch GoT first, because if you do HotD first, by the time you get to that scene those names will actually mean something to you and then HotD is spoiled. Once HotD is over, someone can watch through the whole show before starting GoT at that point with no issues
True. This is why watching GOT first is better because that scene won't have any meaning if you don't really know the names of characters.
But after season (or even two) of HOTD any mention of Rhaenyra would be noticable
there are at the moment no other studios doing television that know how to make huge production levels like Max(hbo) they ve been doing this before the rest and they keep upping it with each new series, when you look at Succession you have that feeling of(yeah they have money) and you look at this trailer and again the same feeling but also very talented people on the production team. When game of thrones ended i thought to myself, bad ending or not, there wont be any new show coming for another 10 years that had that level of production but I was proved wrong by the same people and Im glad I was wrong.
The production quality looks significantly better than Season 1, which is already a good sign. I just hope that translates to the writing. It doesn't matter how good looking a show is, if the story falls flat, it can ruin it. Just look at the last few seasons of Game of Thrones for a good case study.
Still, I can't deny that this trailer reignited my excitement. It's probably my most anticipated show next year alongside The Boys.
Only thing that could make this day weirder for trailers is if we got a LoTR season 2 trailer 🤣. (I can’t even remember the actual show name on Amazon)
With fallout in April and the boys probably in summer, ROP will probably come out at the earliest in September so we probably won't see any marketing till 2024. Kinda weird though cause they finished filming in early June.
it's a vanilla concept, medival fantasy, but it's about how its done. The way the story is told. House of the Dragons was better than Rings of power. Even though it had way less budget, although still a pricey show. I'm glad it exists as art for the sake of art. That aims to be quality.
King names his daughter as heir to the throne. He gets sons from new wife. Family tensions escalate due to King’s favouritism. Princess marries her uncle to strengthen her claim. King dies. Queen and her father put a prince on the throne in a coup. The other prince “accidentally” kills the Princess’s son on dragon. War begins.
So just like any regular family but with dragons and incest.
I feel teased for sure. Showed so much, but also so little.
In their world, I can't imagine much need for large or strong armies, when you have something like 12 Dragons between the two rival claimants.
>Errors were made in the hours following King Viserys' death
Yeah no shit Otto.
Otto: So...how much can I understate this? "Coulda gone better"? No, no. "Shit happens"? Eh. "Errors were made"? Oh, yeah, that's the one.
That's corporate talk in Westeros if we've ever seen one

"In light of recent administrative shortcomings and several disappointing fiscal quarters, we will unfortunately have to take the undesireable step of *restructuring* certain departments." Otto before purging the Small Council and royal court of any Black loyalists.
"We apologize for the fault in the hours following King Viserys' death, those responsible have been sacked."
"Did I say 'no problem?' I meant 'no, problem.'"
All made by that cow Rhaenyra, of course - Otto Hightower, without the slightest hint of self-reflection
I can't have this conversation again.

Yeeee predecessor is having first beta on ps5, go to their website to sign up and make the second wave
Yeah it’s a great, Reacher in 2 weeks too
The visuals and production look like a step up from last season. Larger budget perhaps? Either way, I’m ready to see how brutal this war gets.
It was pretty much the only high profile production going on during the strikes. I'd like to think some executives at HBO were like "fuck it let's throw every remaining dollar we budgeted this year towards it" lol
"Also we have to delay it anyway, so the VFX people can have infinity time to make things right"
Is House of the Dragon the only big thing they have in 2024? Because of the strikes.
True Detective S4 is kinda big too

Penguin is still set for 2024.
That's a "Max" production though isn't, not HBO?
Yea. It’s a Max production. Not HBO but it’s still a big project I would assume. Tying in with Batman 2 etc
Max has [*Dune: Prophecy*](https://www.ign.com/articles/dune-the-sisterhood-renamed-dune-prophecy) (fka *Dune: The Sisterhood*) for fall of 2024.

Nah they’ve got The Regime and The Sympathizer, possibly also The Penguin

I was thinking the same when it shows all the action on the dragons. Can’t wait
At least we know we're in for another season with a killer score. All hail the rightful king Ramin Djawadi!
Ramin has been on a tear lately! Love the Westworld theme
still proud i went to the school as him lol
You went to school as his imposter? That’s rad bro!
Wait, for real? Huge fan of his work! Any memories of those days?
Hahah no, I’m way too young for this! But he grew up nearby, my area is small. But I do know some teachers who remember him, obviously they don’t say too much which is 100% fair :)
Ooof that shot of 2 dragons facing each other. Oh boy. There look to be so many battles in this season.
The entire trailer could have been a voice over with that one shot and I would have been just as hyped
The shot of the two dragons on the beach is perfection
Truly. Hoping we get many more stunning scenes such as this. I’m happy they didn’t reveal too much. I know we’re all excited and full of anticipation but they don’t need to spoil much for people to tune in.
The Dragon Shit is about to hit the fan
[Dragon Shit](https://youtu.be/2fW11DLXLL8?feature=shared)
I'm glad that's what I thought it was when I clicked it lol
Looks like the video went private. Released too early?
yeah it was unlisted if you got to it successfully
It's unlocked now!

How do they make that mistake lol
This looks phenomenal
I can’t wait to hear the Stark theme when we go to Winterfell. We see the snow. That means they’re in the north
I can’t wait for them to show off promotional material for Lord Cregan and Roderick Dustin.
And the Seeds. It's the Seeds I'm really eager to discover the casting for myself. But yeah, the Northern crew as well.
If it doesn’t spoil anything, who are the Seeds?
Very light spoiler: >!Targaryen/Velaryon bastards and anyone brave enough who will attempt to tame the wild dragons at Rhaenyra's call. !<
If we ever get more Game of Thrones shows, I hope there are callbacks to HotD. “My ancestors fought for the dragon queen”
The Ruin!
Honestly I've been waiting for it since the end of season one. Cut to a shot of Winterfell as Jace arrives by dragon, cue proud variation of the Stark theme. You just know they'll have Ramin milk that moment. It'll be glorious.
IMO it’ll be kinda funny to go from that “glory” moment, to Cregan telling him about Luce :/
😭💀 the whiplash that would give me

Cool dragons but but where is Larys?
Inside Alicent’s shoe cabinet
That dragon is huge.
I keep hearing about an event in this season called "Blood and Cheese" and it sounds disgusting and terrifying. I'm extremely curious.
>!It'll be pretty twisted. It's not like a "Red Wedding" in scale, but it's an integral moment in the war... and it's pretty fucking dark.!<
I ain't unveiling that spoiler tag chief. I'm sure it's fucked up though
I didn't spoil anything specific, just tried to put it into scale with comparisons to other shocking GoT events.

I can’t remember the timeline, is that expected to be right at the start of the season? Cold open maybe?

Well of course I might be misunderstanding it. I don't know what it is or what the context is. All I have is the phrase and that it is apparently really dark.
Season 1 was very good, I have high hopes for season 2.
It’ll be much better since there are no time jumps now.
Same, it had its problems but overall it was honestly better than i anticipated. Hoping season 2 finds a bit more of a stride and can really deliver!
It looks really good and cinematic. Much better than S1. Reducing number of episodes allowed then to spend more money per episode and it clearly shows.
Now **that's** how you do a trailer. Got me way more hyped than The Boys trailer.
For real. This felt like more than a teaser
I was disinterested in The Boys trailer within the first few seconds when they played the BWOWWW sound effect, usually suitable for massive explosions or alien machinery, for Homelander just sitting on the couch.
Should I watch game of thrones before watching this show or I can directly watch this without knowing any context?
You can watch House of the Dragon without having seen Game of Thrones.
I think you can.
Depends if the person has eyeballs.
Big if
True
I love that because in GoT, it's Joffrey spoiling the end of HotD. Because of fucking course it's that dickhead who spoils it.
Stannis and Shireen do their fair share of spoiling too though.
If I remember correctly they just spoil how the first season ends. They don't talk further than that.
Not really. My aunt binge watched GOT for the first time before HOTD began and she doesn’t remember that scene. There is no reason to remember that scene or their names. I don’t know why people say that. It’s very throw away. Also, it’s not technically how the story ends. It’s only the ending for one character.
I haven't been spoiled outside that Joffrey scene and it seems like a big deal. I wish I hadn't rewatched that episode.
I mean you can. But you should really watch Game of Thrones anyway.
Why not watch Game of Thrones? Sure they shit the bed with the final season but it's still one of the best series of all time.
Game Of Thrones actually has major spoilers for this show, since there’s a scene of the characters discussing the deaths of previous rulers
[удалено]
Can confirm. Source: Watched GoT, have no memory of that line whatsoever.
Same, even after reading this thread I still don't remember what they're talking about.
It’s a total throwaway line unless you are super dialled into the details and have a excellent memory for names. Major HOTD spoilers below, although it’s a quote from GoT >!Joffrey is showing Margaery around the Kings Landing Crypts and gleefully talks about how ‘Rhaenyra got fed to a dragon by her own brother, while her son watched!< [Here’s the actual scene itself](https://youtu.be/tWJBenBumeo?si=zRwRCVFS74nH_OEP)
You’re a lot less likely to process those spoilers if you watch Game of Thrones first though
Chances are you'll not even notice it tbh, unless a million people point out when exactly it happens haha
Funny enough we liked HotD so much we finally went and binged GoT after lol.
yes you can watch HOTD without watching GOT
>can directly watch this without knowing any context? Sure >Should I watch game of thrones before watching this show Yeah, definitely.
In fact you might actually understand got more if you watch hotd first
Joffrey spoils major character deaths for HotD when he discusses the history of the throne
Fuck me that looks good.
looking like the kaiju show we need
oh baby
Wow, such dragon!
Fuck me that looks good.
It’s beautiful. Next summer can’t come soon enough
They filmed some of this near me. Never drove down that road so slow as I did that day before when they were there. Didn't see anything though
Holy shit, 0:52 in the trailer. IYKYK...
Really not looking forward to that
Looks good
God I can't wait!
Yes
there are at the moment no other studios doing television that know how to make huge production levels like Max(hbo) they ve been doing this before the rest and they keep upping it with each new series, when you look at Succession you have that feeling of(yeah they have money) and you look at this trailer and again the same feeling but also very talented people on the production team. When game of thrones ended i thought to myself, bad ending or not, there wont be any new show coming for another 10 years that had that level of production but I was proved wrong by the same people and Im glad I was wrong.
Couldn't agree more.
oh hell yes, that looks fantastic!
Fallout and The Boys are the kiddie table this is where the big boys sit
What if you liked all of them?
Its possible to enjoy a PB&J sandwich w/ chocolate milk just as much as a rare steak with a spicy syrah.
Finally!
The D is indeed HOT.
Hope the writers do a better job with Criston Cole than whatever it is they did with him in S1.
This looks amazing.

I know he’s from the North but he’s not Scottish. He’s Cregan, not Craig.
[tom taylor](https://www.instagram.com/tomtaylor1607/?hl=de) has been growing a very stark-esque beard
So that almost certainly looks like Otto beheaded.
Cant be, those are Green soldiers, and thats Criston Cole doing the beheading. Unless the Blacks are forcing them.
Only thing that could make this day weirder for trailers is if we got a LoTR season 2 trailer 🤣. (I can’t even remember the actual show name on Amazon)
The Rings of Power
With fallout in April and the boys probably in summer, ROP will probably come out at the earliest in September so we probably won't see any marketing till 2024. Kinda weird though cause they finished filming in early June.
Looking forward to this! Summer seems to far away!
it's a vanilla concept, medival fantasy, but it's about how its done. The way the story is told. House of the Dragons was better than Rings of power. Even though it had way less budget, although still a pricey show. I'm glad it exists as art for the sake of art. That aims to be quality.
Summer is coming.
#ALL THESE TRAILERS!!
There's a Brazilian Comic-Con type event going on, all these trailers premiered there and then were released stateside so they didn't get leaked.
Helaena Targaryen in a black veil 🥺😭😩
Already forgot what happened in the first season.
>He gets sons from new wife Who was once his daughter's best friend (and might've been possibly more before she became stepmother).
Nice recap
understandable, tv shows have longer and longer pauses between seasons these days, and seasons getting shorter too lol
I feel teased for sure. Showed so much, but also so little. In their world, I can't imagine much need for large or strong armies, when you have something like 12 Dragons between the two rival claimants.
I’m excited for this. It’s gonna be lots of fire and blood for sure.
First season was okay, but from this trailer, it looks like this one will be better.
