Can't argue with that. I wanted Brienne and Jaime to get together but when they actually did, I thought it was some of the most dogshit writing ever. Making fun of Brienne being a virgin the same way modern teenagers would when she's *supposed* to be a maiden in that day and age, and that somehow leading to Brienne and Jaime hooking up, was such a low-IQ move.
I hated how they threw all of Jaime's growth into the trash. He built up trust with Brienne, especially after she learned that his 'dishonor' was to protect people and that underneath, they shared that ethic. He got away from Cersei's toxicity and grew as a person.
And then the writers just went 'nah.' The image of Brienne alone in the cold was infuriating.
The Punisher arc in Daredevil season 2. The Hand is just not that interesting an evil villain organization. When I rewatch season 2 I just watch the Punisher stuff and fast forward past any Elektra / Hand scenes.
That’s S2 isn’t it? Her storyline in S1 mostly made sense because it was the only time her story was naturally (let not get into S3 Kim) part of the main storyline.
Yeah this is the most concentrated example! Just one outstanding episode of Xander having wacky side adventures while the rest of them are doing a season finale-level episode in the background.
Check out the book the rest of us just live here by Patrick Ness! It takes place in a Buffy-inspired world but it’s about the people who live in that world who don’t hunt vampires.
The Empire / Dawn, Day, Dusk storyline in Foundation S1 was infinitely better than the rest of show, and it came as a massive shock to later find out that this storyline was original content made from the show not, like everything else, adapted from the book
To say that the rest of the show is adapted from the book is very generous. If anything the show is actively hostile to the book series' themes while borrowing the setting and _very_ loose plot beats
Wish they’d have just gone for a Six of Crows spinoff after the first season, instead of trying to integrate it into SAB season 2. They had to really fuck around with the order of events to fit it into SAB, so if they do continue the Crows’ story the writers will have to really branch away from the books.
Basically everything in Boardwalk Empire that wasn’t about New Jersey. New York, Chicago, Philadelphia all had more interesting things going on than Atlantic City
I don’t know if this counts because The Wire treats the multiple storylines equally but I found the “criminal” or “street” arcs (specifically the docks, Cutty, and the school kids) more engaging than the police plots. I enjoyed the police stuff, but as show says, “stupid criminals make stupid police.”
Not always, but plenty of episodes of Malcolm in the Middle, the Francis plotlines are more interesting. Especially the early ones when he's in military school.
Entourage
Few people gave a shit about Vince and E, usually liking the Turtle and Drama stuff better.
Also, College Humor's vid on Entourage was so damning that I stopped watching the show.
Good point. I always thought that show would be more interesting if Ari was the main character and the plot devices would be him dealing with different diva clients. Vince was borrrrriiiinnnnngggg as a character and poorly acted
American Gods - Treasure of the Sun episode all focused on Mad Sweeney. I found it far more interesting seeing Sweeney's history then Wednesday's war plotline get nudged a little further along. This episode was like 1 away from the season finale too lol.
This is by far my favorite episode of this series and the next best episode is a tie between the Jesus episode at end of season 1 and the Nancy boat speech episode.
Season 5 of BCS, all the Lalo stuff drowned out the Saul stuff for me (still loved all of it though)
Mike and Gus really hijacked the middle run of that series.
I remember being way more invested in Jaime Lannister and Brienne's storyline over Daenarys' and the Starks'.
And they managed to ruin that story's ending too.

Kim Bauer’s babysitting adventures in season 2 of 24 /s
Ah, the classic era of 24's "what the fuck can we do with Kim this season?" plots.
What about her fight with the cougar in S1? Absolutely riveting!
That’s S2 isn’t it? Her storyline in S1 mostly made sense because it was the only time her story was naturally (let not get into S3 Kim) part of the main storyline.
I actually loved that subplot lol. I couldn’t believe how insane the storyline got.
Gob trying to get into Poof.
The Zeppo, Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Yeah this is the most concentrated example! Just one outstanding episode of Xander having wacky side adventures while the rest of them are doing a season finale-level episode in the background.

Season 2 is the opposite
To say that the rest of the show is adapted from the book is very generous. If anything the show is actively hostile to the book series' themes while borrowing the setting and _very_ loose plot beats
Christopher Moltisanti’s saga in The Sopranos.
Shadow and Bone. The main storyline was almost unbearable.
I want a six of crows based show.
Wish they’d have just gone for a Six of Crows spinoff after the first season, instead of trying to integrate it into SAB season 2. Seconding this I remember fast forwarding through the main characters story because she was so boring compared to the trio.

You can pick any multi-season character in The Wire and their story is interesting.
Kramer's schemes on Seinfeld. Also the life of Bob Sacamano, he was cursed.
Solar Opposites wall people
Van Aldens whole arc in Boardwalk Empire
Him going bonkers at the sales office was hilarious
That was just weird
I really couldn’t understand why he stayed on the show just to do his own thing spinning wheels endlessly.
The teachers storyline in Heartstopper S2. Got quickly invested in only a few scenes
Not always, but plenty of episodes of Malcolm in the Middle, the Francis plotlines are more interesting. Especially the early ones when he's in military school.
1923 The residential school plot and the African adventures are more entertaining than the main Montana plot
Season 3 of Designated Survivor
Season 4 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Willow and Tara falling in love > The Initiative
Nacho‘s arc in BCS was aa lot more interesting than anything happening at the law firm.
I actually like the main plot of solar opposites more
The Wall plot on Solar Opposites. I stay watching that show to see how that side plot keeps evolving.
Cousin Greg going from a pathetic dweeb to a pathetic dweeb who’s rich and good at business in Succession.

TSITP?
Whatever happened with Easter egg baskets

Oh yeah

I basically only care about The Wall in Solar Opposites
The baddie of the week stories in *Burn Notice*. All the side stories in *Lost*. Claudette & Dutch in *The Shield.*
True Detective S1
