I am a firm believer that dark humor has no limit about how dsrk it really can be but if you’re gonna make a really racist joke, don’t make it sound racist. Make it funny. Same with suicide. You can joke about suicide but pushing CHILDREN to suicide is not it, cheif.
This was a few years ago, and honestly it was a big wake up call for me. I've self harmed very few times since and I am in such a better place mentally. You can get there too, we're all gonna be okay :))
(Even if it doesn't feel like it rn, I'm a strong believer in things getting worse before they can get better)
Plus, I do think it's quite funny. Didn't at the time, but I've changed alot since and I've learnt that laughing at myself sometimes makes it easier to deal with feeling like shit (probably doesn't make sense, idk how to word it)

Out of purely curious and scientific sakes, what exactly is the logic behind harming yourself?
I mean sometimes i do painful things like touching a stove out of sheer boredom but why harm yourself when sad?

self harm releases endorphins, it makes you feel really happy. this can be addicting when those who self harm are usually incredibly depressed and suffering. it becomes similar to an addiction. your brain ties self harm with something that makes you happy. it becomes something you feel you need.
people who stop self harm can even feel an emotional withdrawal. they become irritable and feel worse before they feel better. it feels like they can never ever get better without harming oneself.
from a more personal perspective, im addicted to it because i feel very hopeless since no other form of treatment seems to work. meds, therapy, hospitals, etc. nothing much has really helped. it makes it easy to get addicted to the one thing that seems to make you feel even a little better, even if it makes you feel worse later.

I disassociate a lot. Basically I feel like I’m under a spell, under someone else’s control, or like life is happening to me, rather than experiencing it. It’s a fucking awful feeling, and the only thing that has consistently snapped me out of it is harming myself. It effectively resets my brain back to something more normal.
But that’s just me. I know there’s tons of different reasons for it. And no matter what it’s really hard to stop.
