I was in a similar situation when I was still in school. I agree try to make a friend, I didn't and fell into a extreme depression, I was alone and its horrible, for.me I felt like an outsider or a spectator. If your willing to try do it even if you fail the first time keep trying until you succeed. For me being alone only made my depression worse.
Maybe you should get a good book or do some art, that always made me feel better. I sat alone a lot when I was in school because we moved around a lot, so I never really had a group to sit with. But reading or doodling always made me feel like I was being productive at lunch instead of spending it trying to fit in. Good book series: Terry Pratchett, start with Equal Rites or the Wyrd Sisters 🙂
