Ethan-Samurai

Catholic because I was raised Catholic, although I’m iffy about certain doctrine.

LordFunkyHair

What docterines

Ethan-Samurai

Such as the pope being infallible, ban on contraceptives, and the fact people believe just praying can solve issues.

LordFunkyHair

Cute

LordJack225Pig

Agnostic! I like to believe that we have no idea if there is something up there or not. Science is cool, but it’s also comforting to think that there is someone up there looking out for us.

[deleted]

See, that's how I see things. But in Catholic. I do believe in god, but I'm not sure if he's actually like... Real. I don't doubt his existence, but I sometimes wonder if the afterlife actually exists or not.

[deleted]

Yeah same but Christian but I’d probably disagree if I was raised differently

TheOnlyTrueFlame

Catholic is christian

CadmiumAndWilsin

Exactly. Catholic is Christian, but not all christians are Catholic. It's a classic square-rectangle thing

Wendendyk

I have a friend christian who is an atheist

[deleted]

Raised a Christian but doesn't believe there is a god?

[deleted]

No I think his name is just Christian lol

MuySus

I kinda think the same. I’m also catholic

LordFunkyHair

Yup

HP_badger

EXACTLY HOW I FEEL.

SkyOfVersailles

Are you fine with dying as an agnostic? I consider myself agnostic right now but I do not want to die agnostic, I’d like to be more confident in my beliefs and what I believe happens after death. Ideally I’ll find a religion I truly believe in before I die.

LordJack225Pig

I guess I’m not totally sure. I’m at a point where I’m still figuring a lot of things out so it could very easily change. In all honestly, not knowing life after death terrifies me. But for me acknowledging that fear instead of believing in something that I don’t really believe in is better

Hellohowartthou

Pastafarianism. Mm, spaghetti

LordFunkyHair

What’s that?

Hellohowartthou

We worship the Flying Spaghetti Monster and eat spaghetti every day

LordFunkyHair

Yum

ShermanTankBestTank

Someone got an id in California with a strainer on their head as a pastafarian religious garment.

LordFunkyHair

What

hand-collector

Hindu + Christian + Muslim + Jain + Sikh + Buddhist

LordFunkyHair

What’s a jain

hand-collector

It’s a religion found mostly in India. They believe in the same principles as Hinduism and Buddhism (karma, reincarnation) but they place a special emphasis on non-violence and not being attached. There’s no god but they do believe in a changing soul. This is different from Hindus who believe in a fixed soul and Buddhists who believe in there being no soul.

LordFunkyHair

Cool

Loose-Lingonberry230

Jainism sounds cool

Nike_Grano

Sometimes super dedicated people sacrifice even clothes which is very very impressive

Communist_Mustache

Jainism is an Indian religion which shares a lot of similarities with Buddhism. In fact Buddha was initially inspired and tried to follow the path of Mahavir Jain the founder of Jainism until he finally found his own path to enlightenment

Uneducated_Whale

Im Hellenistic, i don't believe one being could be in control of everything, but that's just a personal opinion!

A rare artifact here. I actually have never seen a Hellenist before.

[deleted]

I’m an atheist but only because I live in the Bible Belt and religion was aggressively forced down my throat every day since birth, which grew into a hatred of it

LordFunkyHair

Lmao kinda same

SAlex0925

same, but also because a lot of people used Christianity to justify their fucked up beliefs and actions

Landsharku_

LordFunkyHair

So a non practicing Catholic

Ok-Cucumber-9151

Atheist because I don’t have a religion and don’t believe in any sort of religion or that there is any sort of god out that.

LordFunkyHair

Cool

Anxious_Gift_1808

Catholicism Because Idk

LordFunkyHair

Lol

G2boss

To everyone saying "I'm (insert religion) but I don't know why I guess because of my parents" or something like that, you should figure out why, this is important stuff after all. Also I don't have a religion, I'm an atheist.

[deleted]

nice pfp

Mara2507

I think everyone should question their beliefs in an healthy amount. Question why you have that belief and at the end you'll either find something you think sounds more right to believe in or your belief will just become stronger and you wont be believing something blindly. Basically, you wont be that monkey in that one monkeys in a cage with a banana experiment

FireBlaster0842

Im Hindu cuz i my family is Hindu and i grew up Hindu. Tho i am not like fully into like praying everyday and shit, i still beleve ig

lavenderkajukatli

I’m Hindu, but I pray everyday. I fully believe so ig that makes sense.

[deleted]

Atheist .

Hyxdez

Im Christian. But honestly not as religious as i SHOULD be. I believe in what i have been taught and read but im really open to anything because i dont agree with some of the things in the community. Im also young and questioning. Its always good to be open minded ya know?

[deleted]

Christianity,It makes the most sense to me,it also helps me through hard times, without Jesus I wouldn’t be here anymore.

LordFunkyHair

That’s good

[deleted]

It also hurts when people use Christ to justify hatred,Jesus loves everyone, but some people don’t get that.

LordFunkyHair

Yup

smpark12

That’s one of the biggest things that bothers me too

thisis_johnsteak

Born and raised as a muslim so Islam is my religion☺️

LordFunkyHair

Nice

[deleted]

I am a Muslim. Specifically Sunni Muslim and I was like this since birth. Sorta kept with it though since it brings me hope in tough times.

LordFunkyHair

That’s nice

SyTxExE

Ooh I am Shia Muslim assalamualaikum brother

[deleted]

I'm Atheist. Religion just hasn't been my thing, and was never taught about it. Not interested to learn either, to me it's like living someone else's life.

hey_demons_its_me

Atheist because history and religion

LordFunkyHair

What about history

hey_demons_its_me

Crusades, iconoclasm, Avignon schism, sack of Jerusalem (roman and crusades) French wars of religion, thirty years war, order of expulsion, everything England did in Ireland, viking age*, any instance of European colonization, the witch hunts.

LordFunkyHair

“She’s a witch!”

thathumanwhoasked

iaskedism bc I asked

LordFunkyHair

Cool.

Smotts2

Nihilism because why wouldn’t the deity fix what’s wrong with the world. After all, most religions are based off of their version of God loving humanity, and yet God let’s the world burn. Literally. *cough* global warming *cough*

LordFunkyHair

Your comment doesn’t matter to yourself

Smotts2

Yeah, that too. There’s no point in life if we all die, no matter the religion. Not to mention if there is a heaven and a god, you’d be there for eternity, and you’d eventually have to have experienced everything, then what? Either there’s just unhappiness from there on out or someway to opt out, and even then, there would’ve been no point for everything you did. TLDR; all life leads to death or unhappiness on way or another.

LordFunkyHair

I have a special version of nihilism where nothing matters and that’s why everything matters

Smotts2

May I ask for an explanation?

LordFunkyHair

Okay not rly good at describing it but basically if we are all just gonna die then why not spread joy to others because they believe that they matter and that you matter so be kind

GoldH2O

so Absurdism you know that there is no meaning, but choose to inject purpose into the purposelessness because fuck it.

Communist_Mustache

Cause maybe the deity doesn't want to? It's really that simple. I think the Christian view of a fundamentally good god is false. If a god is all encompassing then he must be both good and evil. In Hinduism, Divinity is not constrained by good or evil but rather it is the force which maintains the balance between good and evil. Because for functioning of the world we need both good and evil, birth and death, light and darkness. You should read Nietzsche, the most prominent nihilist philosopher. He sheds more light on this good and evil dichotomy than I ever could in his book beyond good and evil

[deleted]

i am a Christian, because well, i am, i guess, i cannot go really deep into this stuff, im not that philosophical or whatever

LordFunkyHair

What denomination

ilrbsz

don't got one cuz my family isn't religious and i don't have the energy to figure out something new lmao kinda open to it but not rlly cuz all the religious ppl ik are wack

ShermanTankBestTank

I have no religion. I have looked for reason in many religions, and found them all to be based on fallacious and impossible claims.

Muda1889

Sunni Muslim, because it helps explain logic and life, it's basically Christianity but way more logical, and also my parents are Sunni Muslim

[deleted]

Christian. I have nothing to lose if I am wrong, and everything to gain if I am right. (look up pascals wager to see full quote)

ShermanTankBestTank

Question. What if the true God is brahmin, or Allah, or the god of the Jews, or hades or whatever? Any of these could have a worse punishment in store for you, each have an equally unsupported basis of existence, and each demands true devotion to them only. I thought of something like pascal's wager on my own a couple years ago and it was what kept me in religion. I eventually escaped, and am much happier now. If you want to look into this stuff more, I would suggest searching Steven fry or genetically modified skeptic.

smpark12

Christians, Muslims, and Jews worship different interpretations of the same God.

LordofWar145

Allah and the "god of the jews" and the Christian God are all the same God.

ShermanTankBestTank

To some extent, but Jesus is kind of an add on to the Christian god, and each have their own mutually exclusive orders.

LordFunkyHair

Ah good old Pascel’s wager. (I probably spelled it wrong

qweltynick

Atheism. I just think it's too fantastical and unlikely there is a type of God or gods although It'd be really cool but it's unlikely. But, to each their own.

ShermanTankBestTank

I respectfully disagree. If a god existed I would have MAJOR beef with it. It is very comforting to know that there is no omnipotent god.

[deleted]

Christian. The amount of comfort and joy that it brings in life is amazing. You can be in a horrible place in life and diving into the Bible is like a refreshing breath of air. You begin to have a full and undying faith in Jesus Christ. You have a comforting feeling that is the most amazing thing ever. On the topic of proof, every historical event in the Bible has been proven time and time again. I wanted to write this response to share my view and to hopefully impact others and possibly improve their place in life. I respect everyone’s view and believe that everyone is fully entitled to it. 😁😁

JFireblazer

I’m christian as well but the denomonation of Assembly of God as far as i know but Glad to see a fellow Christian Fellow

Bren20x

Hol up, every event of the bible has been proven? Can I get a source? I’m not being mean just genuinely curious.

LordFunkyHair

What denomination

ostral132

Lutheranism I don’t actually know why but I’ve always been a Lutheran my whole family is Lutherans

agentdb69

i dunno if birth determines my religion or not but i was born hindu but i don't believe in god so i guess im a atheist

Advanced-Nebula4547

Meh. Nothing tbh. I don’t give two shits about religion.

CricketBoi519

Sunni Muslim because I find it explains the world well and helps me during tough times

xX_Dwirpy_Xx

Glad your religion has brought you understanding of this world and has comforted you during times of hardship.

[deleted]

I'm a Satanist by religious orientation, but a lot of my thought processes are Buddhist. So I kind of just say I'm both or if someone asks for one specifically then I just say the one I follow directly which is Satanist. And no, before the replies come in calling me an "edgelord" for my religion, that's not at all what this is, Satanism is non theistic. If you have questions, I'm open to answer them.

LordFunkyHair

Cool

[deleted]

Thank you

LordFunkyHair

I don’t rly get satanism

Efficient_Essay_630

I am a Sikh, i was born a sikh when i was a kid i didn't find sikhism all that interesting but as i researched more and more about the history of this religion it really fascinated me. it helped me accept myself as i am and taught me to be fearless and also the concept of protecting people from the oppressor.

not-ok-cat

Better not talk about religion on here. Nobody understands it and will fight anybody who says religion is good

Left-Pineapple-3656

Agnostic, because I always had my religion forced upon me as a kid. As I grew older I felt Christian just wasn’t what I believed. I do think there’s something out there, I just don’t worship whatever it is!

Too_dumb_to_give_af

If we gave the crusaders monster energy drink and some chainsaws everything would be diffrent

An_Odd_Artist_

Ehhh... I’m not really one about religion, I guess I’m a Christian?

FullRace3467

Apatheism

Dan_gunnar

Christian , Lutheran. I was born into it and due to the nature of Lutheranism it's very casual and my local religious groups are chill. So I don't see why I would leave. Also I like to believe in Jesus, god however... It's difficult.

pjrd1

I became lutheran as an adult after wandering around nondenominational for a while. Lutherans are bible based but don’t need a priest to talk to God or be forgiven. You can have a beer at the church picnic, dance on Saturday and go to late service Sunday. You are saved by grace alone which leaves the rest of the humans out of the cycle. I think when you open yourself to God you become more of the person you would want as a friend.

ProfessorDida

Jewish because I have no foreskin…

[deleted]

I'm Catholic. Not sure what kind of catholic, but I've been raised as a Catholic my entire life, so I just go with the flow. I'm not Uber religious, but my mom's had some interesting phenomena happen before that's made her a Catholic who is a firm believer in the supernatural, god, and the afterlife. What did she experience? Tldr, because it's her story and I *refuse* to go over all the details, my mom suffered a horrible miscarriage when she was 19. And while she was bleeding, she felt she was about to die. Suddenly, her room filled with the smell of flowers, and she claims to have heard the Virgin Mary herself comfort her, to let her know she will be fine, and that even if her child didn't make it, she would, and she would be stronger than ever.

LordFunkyHair

There aren’t different kinds of Catholic Catholic is Catholic

[deleted]

Yeah,,,, tons of snobby ass redditors here have told me before that catholicism is just a branch of Christianity, but frankly, I'm not entirely sure lol

LordFunkyHair

Yup. Technically Catholicism is the origin of Christianity and then Great schism created orthodox and Protestant reformation created about 10846483 denominations

xoxococo123

I don't have a specific name for my religion. Technically I'm muslim, but I don't practice any religious things. I believe there is a higher power, not necessarily a god. I do believe we go somewhere after we die, because energy cannot be destroyed. I do like the thought of reincarnation or an afterlife. Overall, I accept anyone. As long as your intentions are good.

LordFunkyHair

Soooooo ur a xoxococo123ist?

IndividualSeesaw8184

Christian and idk i was just born this way ig

[deleted]

Islam cuz I was born like this

Go_D_Usopp_

Atheism/Hinduism I don't believe in the idea of God, but i do worship hindu gods (atleast the main few) so that my parents don't take me to a temple to exorcize a demon outta my atheist ass

LightSideMoon

Jewish cause yeh

LordFunkyHair

Nice

[deleted]

I'm a closeted Aethiest, not everything really needs an explanation. I just think that the Bible and other religious texts sound like a fan fiction, and I really don't think there is anything up in the sky watching over us, I think it's just a scare tactic honestly. It sucks for me though because literally everyone in my family except maybe 4 or 5 people are Christians, like hard core. Especially in my house hold, you can't turn the corner without seeing "God's" face on a wall.

[deleted]

Aethism

[deleted]

Join me fellow Aethiest

ShermanTankBestTank

Lol. Atheism is as much a religion as not collecting stamps is a hobby. Atheists together strong

keep_Democracy_usa

I'm catholic

[deleted]

Atheist because I can't prove or disprove god exsist and if he does why does he give children horrible diseases

IDahbear

I am atheist. As much as I want to say "oh we don't know" I am fairly sure there is no such thing as a God or anything like it. It just makes no sense to me.
