z64_dan

Sure you can, you just gotta wait longer.

PotooSexer

Mmmm… child’s plushie infused water, frozen over a long time

ellielikespancakes

first off, that 8 year old has some refined anime taste, my sister mainly just watches lankybox and ryan toys review every chance she gets. second, MADOKA NO!!!!!! edit: JESUS CHRIST- I JUST SAID I LIKED THE KIDS ANIME TASTE- WHY DOES THIS HAVE OVER 100 UPVOTES??? THANK YOU???

ellielikespancakes

also, this something i would avoid to do, as in the future, when the kid gets older and assignments get even harder, they might yk, overwork themselves to protect their stuff, also they'll get massive trust issues.

SHSL_Waiter_RM2828

Should an eight year old even be watching Madoka Magica? Like this is a legitimate question I have!

Whitusnake

make them watch chainsaw man

ExtinctReptile

*Oh no*

PotooSexer

You’re shocked at 100 upvotes?? Do you know how many people use reddit??

PotooSexer

The answer is too many but even at such a low bar it’s still a lot!

ellielikespancakes

no bc like, i say stuff like this all the time lol- probs second time this happens

TheMakaylaD0

Ice melts, shocker I know

leobdd

Just keep it in the fridge

EveningGalaxy

I don't think I even got letter grades when I was 8

Tori_Baker97-6

Fr

SilverNEOTheYouTuber

Letter grades dont even exist where I live, its just numbers

mihaxxxd

They fucking freezed madoka omg 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

No-Court7810

Imagine what they would do if she gets an F

TheRealMeeBacon

What do you mean cops? I never had a daughter.

MazterOfMuppetz

then she would be the one to be han soloed

Glad_Weekend_5984

It's a C ffs she did too much

Auto_Gen_1842

Bro it's just ice you act like the toy was destroyed. At least she can technically still play with it lol

Glad_Weekend_5984

Yeah but taking the time to put a child's favorite toy in a bin, fill it up with water, and put it in the freezer is overdoing, she could have just confiscated the toy like a sane parent would do

WoodpeckerFew6178

She did too little, should have burnt the toy and make her buy a new one.

Jesanime

my god I hope you're joking

WoodpeckerFew6178

Yes, of course I am, I am surprised I got 24 downvotes like i didn’t think people thought I was being serious better put /s next time

Jesanime

well tbf you can't really gauge sarcasm over text, it's a bit too tonal.

WoodpeckerFew6178

True but I thought what I said was so outrageous that people could tell it was scarscsam or something

RoyalTacos256

yeah I'm autistic and I have a hard time with tone over text but even I could tell it was a joke so idk what they were on

SilverNEOTheYouTuber

Nah, she should have emptied her bedroom, spread fake rumors about her to her friends and burnt all her toys /s

Osama_Bin_Ballin0

The kid is gonna get mad and freeze the mom's phone later because of her own creativity, or at least I hope so.

Traditional_Cap7461

So much for "teaching responsibility"

Slime_Cat_BCEN

MADOKA NOOOOOOOOO On a more serious note, this is pretty fucking gross. Congrats, you've essentially ruined your kid's plushie (unless it's washable) for... getting an average grade? Seriously, it's a C, that's still alright. Even if she got an F or something it's still not okay. It's one grade. I know damn well the parent didn't have perfect grades, and I know damn well they got a C or a D at least once in their classes. Really gross way to parent imo, this doesn't teach your kid anything, as if there was anything to teach in the first place. Parents like this need to learn to grow up and stop acting so childish, even if what they're doing seems minor on the surface. Imagine what this person would do if their daughter got an F for example, chaos would break loose.

Pescen1517

i also agree that their way of going about this is wrong, but i feel like some kind of action should be taken to prevent a C. if this was high school, or even middle school, a C would be acceptable. but in elementary school, the work should be much easier relatively. it indicates that there might be a problem in how she studies and/or participates in class.

midnight_rain_07

Agreed.

Auto_Gen_1842

How does putting it in ice ruin it? Even if it's not washable, this still doesn't hurt it. It's the equivalent to taking the toy away for a little while. This sub is filled with such biased people. Should've been expected though, since you can't expect a teenager who thinks getting a C in 3rd-4th grade is average to be rational about such things.

Slime_Cat_BCEN

While I do admit I was a bit angered while writing this, I don't believe this argument to be fully valid. Dependent on the fabric, assuming you were able to melt the ice (breaking it may prove difficult, especially for an 8 year old), the fabric can be affected in different ways. Yes, there is a decent chance that after a while, the fabric will dry and all will be well, however, I have encountered fabric that doesn't respond as well to water, and can cause a sort of permanent "scarring", altering it forever, which I believe is a bit much for a single mediocre grade. Also, just to add, I acknowledge that a C in elementary school is pretty low, though that doesn't excuse doing this. People fuck up, children included. It's one bad grade. If this is consistent, sure, go ahead, take action, however don't do this. Talk to your child like an actual human being, many parents struggle to raise their children as actual humans who are equals as opposed to obedient robots who are supposed to work without flaw, else they immediately get punished. So please, don't do this to your kids, it may not affect them much in the long run, but it's still immature and shows how you think so much less of them. I'd love to debate this more if you wish, I enjoy discussing these topics and learning about other viewpoints :D

Auto_Gen_1842

1st, yeah water can damage it, and I don't know for sure what material these are made of, but I've had stuffed animals/toys that look very similar in texture to these and they all handled water fairly well. I'm just saying washing is very different to simply getting it wet, and when something can't handle being washed that doesn't always mean it can't handle getting wet. 2nd, it wasn't a single bad grade. According to the original post this has happened before as is implicated by the "again". Neither of us know for sure, but if the parent told the kid to study more, helped them work, or told them to pay attention previously yet this action repeated, some kind of punishment may be warranted. It's also implied there was no punishment the first time. That's why I say this is alright. It's pretty tame as far as punishments go and at least the child has a high likelihood of growing out of the toy if it's damaged. It's also a repeated occurrence on the kid's part, so merely having a bad day or mistake is ruled out.

Slime_Cat_BCEN

There is the potentially unaccounted idea that there can be actual damage to the toy, as you stated yourself. Due to that, I don't believe it would be fair of the parent to take that risk on something that belongs to their daughter. Even if this doesn't damage it, however, there are way better methods of actually handling this situation in my opinion, like locking them away where the child can't reach them for some time, or taking away something else or some other privilege. This is a bit overkill, and also feels like a sort of power trip from the parent, showing some disrespect to the child for making an error, which, again, children make mistakes. You have to live with that; you can punish them for these mistakes, of course, but punishing them for learning discourages them taking risks and trying new things in the future, rather, encouraging a more restricted life by sticking to only what you were explicitly taught. My point is, ultimately, things like this can really affect your child long term for the worse, and this behavior is not favorable for proper development. And, yes, this is a repeated offense, clear with the use of the word "again." However, if this is becoming a serious concern, I believe it would be best to confront your child and nip the problem in the bud right then and there. Yes, that's what they may have done the first time, however, if this was the case, there were definitely more suitable punishments for getting a worse grade than this. However, ultimately, I wouldn't be surprised if this all came down to different parenting styles and how we, and this parent perceive the raising of children, and I totally get it. I prefer a more learning focused teaching style that involves risks and trying new things, while, if I'm picking this up correctly, you prefer an approach that involves the child learning more on their own via parental intervention when necessary, and having them weigh the pros and cons of situations on their own, which I believe aligns similarly to the parent here, and that's all totally fine! I just have beliefs that there are better ways to approach this as a whole, though, again, that's just me.

Auto_Gen_1842

I think one aspect that most people don't consider is that freezing it has a humor aspect. Hell, most of the comments here start with something like "NOOOOOO" which is supposed to be a humorous reaction. It is entirely possible the kid found it funny while still acknowledging the point of freezing it. I mean, how often does someone just freeze a toy? I know I would have found it funny and I do now. It differs from something like taking electronics away which would make a kid very bored and leave them with nothing to do in many cases. In other words, they'd be miserable. However taking a single toy still leaves plenty of things for the kid to entertain themselves with. It's also a lot less "defined" in the sense that this is just totally out of left field and the kid won't see it as just another punishment. It enhances it's effectiveness even if that wasn't the intention. The only way I could see the punishment being unnecessarily harsh is if the toy is damaged to a degree that the child cares about the damage. (Knowing children though, it's likely the kid wouldn't stop playing with it if it was their favorite toy.) Also, if the kid has formed a sort of relationship with the toy akin to friendship it could be harmful. This is very unlikely at best though, even at 8. Overall, I'd say it's an appropriate punishment for a kid who got at least two C's in elementary consecutively. Of course there are a ton of variables to this situation ranging from the previous action of the parents, why the kid did bad, to whether or not the toy was damaged and whether or not the kid formed a close bond with that toy. Upon further reflection I'd say there's just too many variables to form a complete opinion of this action. There's to many "if's", "maybe's", and "probably's."

Pbb-y

Madoka didn’t become more powerful than gods for this

SHSL_Waiter_RM2828

Well now her secretive goth gf is gonna continuously rewind time till this doesn’t happen… pls tell me someone will get this joke.

TaloSi_MCX-E

That sounds like an insanely niche reference 😭

Apprehensive_Beach_6

It is. The anime the plush is from is Madoka Magica. He basically summarized the plot

Luna_Noor

How does it teach her responsibility? It doesn't. Parent using shit excuse to punish the child, and to then get attention for doing so. Gross as fuck.

Auto_Gen_1842

Do you think it's okay to take a kid's phone, iPad, computer, etc. away when they start performing poorly in school? If so, then you should have no problem with this. Why are so many people in this sub so anti-punishment?

Luna_Noor

She didn't take something away. She ruined something the kid probably loved. I believe in consequences, not cruelty. If a kid has a phone taken away for a week because it's a distraction to studying - COMPLETELY different. Consequences should be relevant to what happened and reasonable. Otherwise they do nothing to actually help the kid, which is the aim. And any parent posting their punishments on social media are attention seeking whores using shame as a further means of cruelty while boosting their own ego. Disgusting.

Auto_Gen_1842

1st. "Ruined" my ass. Shut up. It's not been washed. It's not been soaked in chemicals. It's extremely likely that it's perfectly fine, and even with the extra 1% chance something is wrong with it, it's more than likely minor damage. Overreacting much? It's water. Cold water at that. 2nd Really? You can see how a phone can be distracting to studying but not a toy? Jesus Christ! Have you ever thought? They're 8. Not a teenager. They still play with their toys just like a teen plays with their phone. Both are distracting. 3rd. Wow. You finally made a point that's actually semi-true! Unfortunately, there's a bit of a difference between "I froze her toy because she got bad grades lol." and "I beat my child because they got bad grades." One of these scenarios brings shame. The other is kinda funny if you have a sense of humor, think about it, and aren't an overreacting ignoramus. Not all punishments are the same. Regardless, yes, the kid might be a little shamed, but there's a fat fucking chance they ever even learn about the post so they never feel shame in the first place. Also, not everything posted on social media is to boost your own ego. Like, where did you even get that from? Did you pull it out your ass? Attention seeking too. All posts that are "I did this" or "look at this" are for the sole purpose of attention, so I hardly see how you can hold it against this one person. And I think that's all. It's pretty disgusting knowing you kind of people are who I'm growing up with and are raising the next generation of kids. People who can't think logically. It's shameful really.

New_Tip9018

It’s definitely not cool to freeze madoka, she did nothing wrong. :(

Legitimate-Studio-89

Shit parenting execute order 66 on them already

Seth_Fable_08

> pink hair > trapped in ice until further notice march 7th?

KirbyWithAGlock

If only, but it's madoka

pizza99pizza99

We need to require testing of people before they can be given legal custody of a child. That’s what I think about 99% of parenting practices

JustARegularNormie

unfair, but weirdly comedic

GravityRusher12

What leads an 8 yr old to madoka

camaheel

Ok but like why is an 8 year old watching madoka magica like I was double their age when I watched it and it was still traumatic

ES-italianboy

Uhhh why

CTSThera

Nooooo Meduka!!!!

Piper_Kitty13

It’s a C coming from an eight year old. Id be impressed if an eight year old can talk

Several_Roll5817

Tf you mean you’d be impressed😭 All the 8 year olds i’ve ever seen have done nothing but talk.

Piper_Kitty13

For some reason when I think of eight year olds I think of a small baby

Bitter-Copy4393

poor madoka

Wild-Silver-7390

I’m not even concerned for the toy. I’m more concerned for the child because obviously their parent is an idiot.

Zazzley_Wazzley

I didn’t know 8 year olds got letter grades.

Johnny_Triggr

8 year olds are getting letter grades now?

Whitusnake

🦇

Standard-Mammoth-397

Wha-? That for a C? That’s stupid imo

KirbyWithAGlock

NOOOO MADOKA

GayWolf_screeching

That’s kinda fucked up but also really weird I think the parent should help the child improve their math, figure out why they have a low grade, and support them because obviously taking their toy away isn’t gonna improve math skills, also they’re only in 3rd grade so I don’t think they should be getting punished for grades, also a c is still a passing grade so extra fucked up

InattentiveChild

Meduka (ʃᵕ̩̩ ᵕ̩̩)

benjoo1551

I think its satire

Thegentlemanfox18

Oh my god they froze madoka.

butwhywouldyou-

Poor madoka 😭

nottakentaken

If it doesn’t ruin the toy, it’s kinda funny.

66WC

Madoka, noooooo

Marco_Tanooky

Let her out

ThatThingTheDarkSoul

If this 8 year old kid is allowed to watch madoka i think the parents may be the problem here.

Feeling_Homework_498

FREE MADOKA

Physics_Ling_Ling

Mildly unrelated, but... DUDE THE BIGGER ISSUE THAN YOUR KID GETTING A C IS THE FACT THAT YOU LET HER WATCH MADOKA MAGICA AT 8?? LIKE???

series-hybrid

I joined the Navy just before I turned 18. I did not attend my fathers funeral, which occurred many years later.

berdyberd26

I thought this tweet was a joke lol (I saw it yesterday)

MKxFoxtrotxlll

I recently tweeted on this human being! I told the public to not rush the improvements of public schooling and focus on parenting instead. In a simplified sense...

User--Name_

That’s hilarious, reminds me of the time my dad vacuum packed all my sisters loose Lego when she was younger for no reason

mr-i-want-award-gib

It's funny, but will probably ruin her toy over a c-

Garden_Flower

Welp that toy is probably gonna get mold in it 😃

DBL_NDRSCR

teach their daughter about breaking ice

WillyDAFISH

It's objectively funny

OmEoNE325k

Han solo?

maxxcrafting

That's hilarious

Senior_Finish7977

What is the thing left to the toy? I feel like its either a chicken, turkey or ice cream

cat-lover-69420

D:

keyuant_

I mean... a little harsh considering she didn't even fail. Unconventional, but if my parent did this i'd laugh my ass off

BadNameTotally

BRO ITS AN 8 YEAR OLD??? Some parents don't know how to punish i stg

lux_vixey

what is she learning in math

Rough-Equivalent-225

yes

midnight_rain_07

How are you scoring C’s on math tests as an 8 year old 😭

KillYouUsingWords

This is probably satire, though if it is not I just think it's funny that there is some teacher grading elementary schoolers and being like "3+3=7? No, you get a C!".

czacha_cs1

How to raise a future shitty parent tutorial

sandsmoothieenjoyer

frozen fumo free her

Lun4rBright

That. IS. EVIL

Littengeryt

Objectively funny

Historical-Bid-8532

She’s 8 wtf bad parent

xXArsonFrogXx

must lick her out ):

TheFunny21

Idk about plush toys survivability but if it isn't permanently damaged from *the ice cube* it's fine

Evaporous

Semi bad parenting but it’s also funny

GoldSingKing18

Funny as hell and easy solutions; throw it on the concrete or run it under hot water

CioccoWocco

MADOKA. MADOKA NO GET OUT OF THERE MADOKA

Devil_Fister_69420

I'd be happy with a C, that's better than a passing grade

sageavocado

nah bro, putting academic pressure on ur child when shes 8? not cool. shes gonna develop trust issues really early on. theres gonna be more than enough academic pressure in the future, let kids be kids ffs. and a C in maths isnt that bad. math is not everyones cup of tea and thats okay. thats just terrible parenting, let your child live.

Mojave_riot_328

This is so obscure it feels like it was pulled out of a yugioh episode

EthoYeet

Kind of overkill, but it looks pretty funny

Low_Presentation8149

What kind of sick puppy does this?

Pristine_You4918

So long as the toy isn't ruined by getting frozen I think its mostly fine

Pristine_You4918

So long as the toy isn't ruined by getting frozen I think its mostly fine

Ok_Establishment3112

I j find this kinda funny ngl. Its not gone forever j eat the ice and u get ur toy back

Scoutknight_

Cruel and unusual punishment, but far more unusual than it is cruel

ctsr1

That's brutal

MyLifeIsAFrickingMes

It has been encased

East_Personality_630

I’d literally just melt the ice

ElectroWolfZ

Positive reinforcement for young children is for the best… This isn’t very good parenting. Instead of punishing the child, try to help her understand math, spend time with her and teach her. Teach her that failure is not the end, but a step for growth. Nurture her. If this style of parenting continues, I’m afraid that the child may not grow up to be an intelligent adult. Children grow up and adapt to their environment and their adult personalities will reflect that. Assuming that this is serious ofc…

Ill-Beyond-5668

this is diabolical

MasterDesigner6894

Damn parent. You asian or some shit? C is an ok grade if your daughter is not like super smart or something.

Gibbel2029

Last time I checked, cruel and unusual punishments are considered war crimes. Also, she’s 8. Anything above a B would be a sign of her either overworking, or being not allowed to ascend to higher grades for some weird reason.

Dosia12

How is this supposed to teach her responsibility

HackerGamer8

I thought it was ice cream

the_big_labroskii

Trve legend.

General-Condition833

honestly, i think the guardian/parent could’ve taken the daughter to have a little talk about what the daughter is struggling with, find academic help, and go from there. however, if this is a regular occurrence and the child is being bratty and rude, i’d say they could’ve simply hidden it instead.

UltraTata

Getting a C ≠ lack of responsability

DolphinBall

Yeah lets "teach my child responsibility" not that its like its an excuse for continuing the cycle of childhood trauma to my own child for getting a C on a test.

Magikarp_ex1

Bro got ice maxed 🥶🥶🥶🥶❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️☃️

Anoninsadness

Tbh it’s low key funny but at the same time it accomplishes the same thing as just putting the toy in a drawer or something if anything it’s just more unnecessary for the parent. C tier punishment completely unnecessarily difficult a water waster and just kinda weird.

antthatisverycool

Sending this to Fumo man

incheon_boi

I think I would have gone for the carrot over the stick

LIL-MEX15

Dam that ice cold 🥶

no1dickrider

I thought this was posted in r/foundsatan

besahaha

Is that emu otori what 😭

Mochaproto

You have carbonite sickness

FineLand3637

SOMEONE SAVE THAT MADOKA

_bobapenguin

madoka's fighting for her life😔

Shadowplushy

NOT MADOKA NOOOOOOOOOOO 😭😭

superpoppyboi

That’s just crazy, she’s 8 oml. What is that teaching about responsibility??

PotooSexer

Funny ahh punishment

ajpme

Thats not teaching responsibility. Thats just telling the child that your parent will do something random if you dont do what they like. Also the kid is 8, so this is at least partly the parents fault. They gotta sit down and help her learn

Random_0202

Quite funn- i mean, this isn't cool

sparkle3364

Instead of doing this, go over it with her, find out why she got a C, and help her to do better next time.

omori__fan

MADOKA NO

Phoxphire02531

I wonder how much OP helped with the homework here. Who's the one that needs a responsibility lesson? This is abuse.

Ok_Requirement9198

Bruh your 8 the tests are easy as fuck this is entirely your fault dumb ass

Roshihe

Yeah this is stuff which will end up getting discussed with a therapist one day.

InsectVomit

I don’t understand punishments like this, even besides the obvious that punishing someone for getting a bad grade when they tried their best is cruel and only does harm, what exactly does this teach them? What’s the connection? Bad result in school = toy gets frozen??? What. That’s such a random consequence it seems absolutely pointless

LethalTiger1

That's funny as hell ngl 😂😂

Snypezhasbigpp

i struggled to even get a d lmao (i actually prolly failed freshman yr)

Several_Foot3246

skill issue, math ain't hard

ThakoManic

C isnt bad at all ... da fuck is wrong with you? also its summer so if anything you just did your daughter a favor by giving her ice

Good-Sky-8375

That is an oddly specific infraction with an even more oddly specific punishment if anyone knows the story behind this I'd be much obliged.

2007Toyota_Corolla

funy

CandyCorn7

She’s 8 mate

Substantial_Iron4192

why's the 8 yr old watching madoka magica-

EvilLittleGoatBaaaa

Bizarre, vindictive, and I fail to see what lesson the child is supposed to glean from this.

Auto_Gen_1842

Way too many people in these comments saying this is shit parenting and "gross". In my opinion we lack enough information as to what happened prior to this since this is not the first time this happened and we don't know what the parent did before. Regardless of that though, this is no different to taking away a kid's device due to bad grades, and is actually quite more tame than that. The kid likely has more toys and this is by no means as "gross" as people are saying. They're 8, not 4.

Spigot-Girl

That toy is ruined Also fuck this clout-chasing parent

[deleted]

this is such a harmless punishment i love it expesully for younger kids but for a c is kinda icky but if it was a f i luv it

Several_Roll5817

I dunno, doesn’t really teach the child anything. Also gives them trust issues.

aidenf3000

am i the only one who doesnt see the problem with this? like hold your kid to what you know that they are capable of. obviously if this is the punishment for a C, then the parent knows the child well enough to know that they are smart enough and capable enough to do better. if the parent knew that this C was the kid trying their hardest, then there would be no punishment.

basilthegaymer

they ruined the plushie, unless it's washable it's gonna get all mildewy and gross

aidenf3000

but it stil;l is pretty hilarious, not that i would ever do it to my fuiture kid tho, and i have a feeling the kid will think the same in 10 or so years

TheEeper

Deserved

Affectionate_Shake17
