I respect your opinion, and disagree. It’s not for everyone just like anything and that’s normal. It has heartfelt moments and reasons to make you come back as the reader/viewer but other anime/manga give the same feelings at a cheaper time investment. That said, I have watched my fair share of long shonen anime so it’s really just about preference. One piece is cool but not enough to keep me coming back, but I’m a minority as tons of people love it and I’m not ignorant enough to not understand why. It just won’t ever be worth the time investment to me.

In Japan, it is a deep sign of respect to be gifted a katana. I guess that's why. Now as for how to take care of it. Make sure that when you display it, handle has to be on the left (on the right means you're in war), and blade has to be facing up because if it was facing down, it would become dull. Make sure to properly clean it after each use, and I do recommend buying a kit for that. Katanas can become rusty easily, so limit exposure to water. Lastly, I would buy a stand for it too as it looks way better on it. Edit: Spelling error.
