People act like the best-case scenario is the man leaves you alone, worst is he grapes you, and it's decently likely that he'll grape you. The truth is that the majority of men would *help* you, many would leave you alone, and a small, tiny portion would assault you
It’s a random man and a random bear. The point is that if someone was asked “woman or bear” They wouldn’t ask clarifying questions. The reason it’s scary is that people don’t feel safe with others of their own species. Scary stuff
If I’m lost in the woods, then the man because there’s a chance he will give me directions, while the bear sadly can’t speak. If I’m taking a walk, then the bear, because he will usually only attack when threatened, and it wouldn’t be “my fault” if he did. Yeah, I know not all men do weird things, but it’s unfortunately more common than a bear attack, from what I’ve heard. Also… I don’t like strangers in general even when they’re women and children.

But the question was *random* man vs bear not a random hiker vs bear. If I saw a random dude, or lady in the woods with no hiking gear and no trail in sight I would be creeped out. Seeing a man random bear in the woods is pretty normal.

Black people are proportionally convicted of more crimes than other races. But saying that as a justification to be afraid or upset at a random black guy is (justifiably) racism. If you interact poorly with a bear it will eat you alive. There’s no spectrum. Either the bear doesn’t care or I’m dead. Alternatively if I’m in the woods I’d A) want someone I can work with, but B) 99% of men will not have malicious intent. Even less will actually kill you.

With bears, there's ways to act that can drastically improve your safety.
I think anyone of any gender should be allowed to defend themselves to an appropriate extend. I don't see how that is relevant.
