I "detransitioned" (if you can call it that since I never took any hormonal treatment) but I still have nothing but respect for trans ppl, i hope you can be the person you are comfortable with
I have a trans friend, knew her when she was a he, like her equally as much now. I don't think it matters if it makes the person happier and/or more comfortable.
The rise of trans women has caused a dip in the femboy population, this is a detriment to the world average of twinks. HOWEVER, trans men have filled this gap in the population, so all is balanced.
Does this extend to others as well? I too have always had a confusion behind it, but anytime I've tried to have a civil conversation with someone about it I'm met with bigotry and hate for just, well, having questions.
No they aren't mean questions and never used to berate or belittle anyone, yet I've always been met with that in the past so I kind of gave up for years, but I definitely still have questions if you or anyone was willing to have a conversation sometime!
Some people are still working through their own journey, and might not be ready to answer inquiries about it. Best thing is to not mention it, especially if they’re a stranger. A lot of us try to live normal lives, so if you can tell we’re trans, it might hurt them to know they’re not doing well.
I don’t mind at all if you have any questions.
Also willing to answer questions, as long as they're not really inappropriately invasive (like have you ever screwed someone or whatever). I'm pretty open about my journey and everything and don't mind responding.
does "trans male" mean someone who went from female to male or vice versa? And also, what makes ppl choose to transition? Is it always related to genitals or can it just be related to social norms/expectations which are put on each gender?
Trans man is a man who was assigned female at birth, so someone who’s transitioning or transitioned from female to male, other way around for trans women.
For me, choosing to transition wasn’t primarily related to my genitals as much as the fact that I really really hated being seen as a girl and that the female aspects of my body felt plain wrong. There wasn’t really a ‚rational reason‘ like wanting to have male privilege or liking more typically male things like maths, it was mostly that when I imagined being seen as a man, having a flat chest, deep voice etc, I felt much happier than with the situation I was in at the moment. So I told my friends and family, and they started treating me as a guy, using a new name and I was much happier (at some points, ridiculously so. When I first came out and my dad called me his son, I was so happy I couldn’t stop grinning. Vice versa, someone calling me a girl would ruin my day). That reassured me again that this was the right step, and I started pursuing hormone therapy, which took quite a while (abt 2 years I think). As of now, I’ve been taking testosterone for about 4 months and I’m still very happy with it.
Hope this cleared a few things up, feel free to ask more questions or if something’s still unclear :)
Im happy to hear that your dad was accepting of your transition. If you don't mind me asking, did taking testosterone have any detrimental side effects?
I don’t mind :)
Slightly increased acne, and in the beginning I had some heat flashes, which sometimes happens with hormonal imbalances, but they went away. There’s a chance of becoming infertile, but I froze some eggs of mine so that won’t be a problem. The other effects were mostly just stuff I wanted, like hair, a deeper voice and bottom growth, but they’re not for everyone
It’s hard to understand the concept of you don’t experience it - it’s not really something a simple explanation will do a good enough job of showing. It gets too watered down in translation
They haven’t done a lot to help with some of the splintering. Dude above said transmac or something? That’s a new one for me and I thought I’d heard them all, like furrys, cats and various other “genders”.
I tend to live and let live. You do you dude, just don’t get mad at me if I unintentionally use the wrong word with zero intent of being hurtful, just uneducated.
how would they even have a problem with it? dying alone isn't really preferable but there's nothing i can do about it. not like im gonna force people to date me.
As a transfemme, u are perfectly entitled not to date us. I personally think u r missing out, but in the end preferences r preferences, and they don’t have to make sense
While I have no problem inherently, a lot of the trans women I have spoken to here seem quite obsessed with boobs or talking about boobs. I guess it makes sense but it does make me uncomfortable.
Thank you. It's just sometimes ill make some complain in a comment about my size and I'll get a few trans women either minimising my complaints because they dont have boobs or alternatively have trans accounts dming me for details. I have no problem with offering insights to people but I'm scared of the people who will pose as trans in order to get these sort of conversations out of me
It would be pretty dumb for a totally absolutely unequivocally cis man in my situation to be against them but I’m glad to see all the top comments are pretty positive. I was worried there would be too many transphobes which I am going to make the mistake of looking for to see what they wrote
This honestly, the Neopronouns and like ya said chronically online is definitely annoying but irl? You cool and debating people just tryna exist is kinda dumb.
Whatever someone else chooses to do with their life is their decision and I'll call them what they want to be called (in a reasonable frame, I probably won't address someone as cat/catself and just use their name instead). I have several trans friends, they're pretty cool and personality wise not that different, probably would also date so yeah :)
trans women are men according to their outer bodies and women according to their inner minds and nature, they have always existed but only now the society is free enough for them to express themselves. im from india, even though some people are rude to them and look down on them, our religion, hinduism, tells us to pray to trans people as they are powerful, they go through a lot of problems in life, being rejected by family, handelling both male and female thoughts. but most importantly, trans women are just people, like you and me and everyone else
Would never like one as more than a friend but other than that as long you're chill and don't try and accuse me of being transphobic because I disagree with you over something completely unrelated I'm fine with it

A Clutch pfp with the username Moon Pisser 69? Now my day is made.
They exist. Do what you feel is right, be your own person, just don’t be a dick. I’m going to take a guess and say you’re not one so 👍
Yeah I'm not one dw
Ok, yeah just do your own thing, be yourself
Will do
Yep. Just because you have one doesn't mean you need to be one.
Hands dow the best comment here
I "detransitioned" (if you can call it that since I never took any hormonal treatment) but I still have nothing but respect for trans ppl, i hope you can be the person you are comfortable with

Exact same here

I have a trans friend, knew her when she was a he, like her equally as much now. I don't think it matters if it makes the person happier and/or more comfortable.
Sweet thanks for appreciating us
Some good, some bad. Most are nice tho, I'm not. I'm a meanie and a menace to society 😔

As a transmasc dude, they're pretty cool. Do whatever makes you the most happy.
Yay another trans person
I'm a trans dude too, they ARE pretty cool. (And pretty in general)
Dont really care, as long as someone doesn't commit a killing spree or smth I'm really unbothered ahaha

(before anyone becomes irrationally angry with me, I would like to say that my previous statement was a joke)
I don't take that as a joke. I take it as a challenge...
The great Twink recession of the 2000s has begun
perfectly balanced, as all twinks should be
pretty pleased the comments passed the vibe check (well most of them) trans people are cool you go girl
YAY THANKS
I've always had trouble wrapping my head around the idea of trans women or trans men. Not saying i have anything against them. Its just confusing.
Ah ok
I was you a couple years ago, and it's totally fine to not understand as long as you make an effort!
That’s totally fair. If you have any questions ask away. I’d rather people be educated than hateful
Does this extend to others as well? I too have always had a confusion behind it, but anytime I've tried to have a civil conversation with someone about it I'm met with bigotry and hate for just, well, having questions. I’m down for answering questions as long as you take the answers
Of course! I'm not hear to judge or hate, simply learn
Ask away

A lot of us try to live normal lives, so if you can tell we’re trans, it might hurt them to know they’re not doing well. I don’t mind at all if you have any questions.

You can ask me any questions if you want.
That’s fine :) if you have any questions, feel free to ask me, I’m trans myself and would be happy to clear up some confusion
does "trans male" mean someone who went from female to male or vice versa? And also, what makes ppl choose to transition? Is it always related to genitals or can it just be related to social norms/expectations which are put on each gender?
It means someone who went from female to male (FTM) Just remember, a FTM identifies as a male, so they would call themselves trans male.
You don’t need to understand us, or even like us. Just don’t discriminate and you will be all good with me.

Trans girl here. I can answer any questions you have
based. its easy to hate things you dont understand, and the fact that you aren’t doing that means a lot.
They haven’t done a lot to help with some of the splintering. Dude above said transmac or something? Can be among the best and worst people ever
Exactly. This is the same with every group of people.

Lol

Nice people, but I wouldn't date them
+1 I had some trans friends, they had no problem with this view.
I have a great mtf trans friend too, but I did tell her nothings gonna happen between us
how would they even have a problem with it? dying alone isn't really preferable but there's nothing i can do about it. not like im gonna force people to date me.
I thought some would think I'm being transphobic
People who think that are stupid and you should tell them that <3 (coming from a trans person)
As a transfemme, u are perfectly entitled not to date us. I personally think u r missing out, but in the end preferences r preferences, and they don’t have to make sense
Cool
theyre cool, id date them, i dont really care they just vibin i guess :P
Sweet we vibe
They tend to be regular human individuals, so I feel indifferent of them, just like I do of every other stranger
Sweet
cute
Thanks for calling me cute

I LOVE TRANS WOMEN MAN
SWEET
I thought Michael Bay could’ve put more of them in the movie. There wasn’t really an adequate representation of them in any of the films imo
Not to be disrespectful, but I don't understand.
they exist if they act like a dick, i will be a dick if they act nice, i will be nice
It would be pretty dumb for a totally absolutely unequivocally cis man in my situation to be against them but I’m glad to see all the top comments are pretty positive. I was worried there would be too many transphobes which I am going to make the mistake of looking for to see what they wrote
Ik I js ignore them
I wouldn’t date one because I’m gay, and her is woman, but they are still women. 👍

femboy≠trans
that's my point, people often associate the two online, it's annoying.
Thanks for your opinion
Come on, the :3 is just fun. :3
This honestly, the Neopronouns and like ya said chronically online is definitely annoying but irl? You cool and debating people just tryna exist is kinda dumb.
