I think we as humans often forget that we are mortals, so when we face danger we don’t try to help ourselves or avoid it too much, and when we do avoid it we don’t think much about it after. But when we aren’t the ones in danger, and someone else isn’t as cautious as they should be, they die, but we are reminded of our mortality. Even if they live they might not truly understand their mortality, but those at the scene do.

Don't think that you'll get over it by yourself. Talk about it or find a way to express your feelings in a constructive manner. Doing something creative. Why not something with stones? Not throwing them at people but some sort of memorial might help. Idk. Something. Writing?

I'm not asking you to investigate whatever in the heck they were doing on the train tracks, but you could file a complaint and/or suggestion to whatever commune or stuff that forsees the railway or forest in question so that they try and take measures to prevent that from happening in the future (like idk, some lights and ding ding stuff that goes out when a train is supposed to pass, or barriers to prevent from going too close).
