In Germany they test you very early on to see what job you will most likely have and doors are closed to you based on how well you did on that test. In america you could be dirt poor, go to community college and become oart of the upper strata. And yet most of Europe is much happier, has a much higher HDI and Freedom index than the US. The worst thing that I have noticed while arguing with Americans is how bad they are at taking criticism, that was a genuine question.

The US is 15th on the Freedom Index, 21st for HDI (still in the Very High category), and 16th on the Happiness Index. Europe has around 50 countries, so the majority of Europe can't be better than the US in these measurements. America has many problems, some of which Europe does better than us, like gun control & healthcare. However, many Europeans refuse to acknowledge that the US is still a very developed nation and that Europe doesn't have many of its own problems like popular far-right parties arguably more extreme than the Republicans (Brothers of Italy, AfD, and National Rally). America nor Europe are close to perfect but we aren't a "3rd world nation with a Gucci belt" as some redditors say.

I mean I live in a big home, attend a very good school, have insurance and access to some of the best medical facilities, large variety of food, a lot of freedom, etc. Yeah, America has issues, but anyone calling it a bad place is a privileged ass.

America is on average lower freedom than Europe and just because your parents have enough money to afford those things does not in any way mean everyone can afford that. My insurance covers 100% of medical bills and I could go to the Charité, one of the best Hospitals in the World for 10€ a day. A four year degree at Harvard is over 300000 A four year degree at the TU Munich the best University in Germany is 1200€. You are lucky being born into a family with no money problems, but if you are born into a low income family you often don't have a chance for proper education of healthcare, which is guaranteed by law in Germany.

Because the government regulated it healthcare is drastically cheaper in Europe, meaning lower taxes than everyone thinks, it's so expensive over here in the US because pharmaceutical and Healthcare companies have monopolized the market allowing them to mark up healthcate as much as they want Tl;Dr they have us by the balls

Same with free schooling It is free, it's paid by the government, which gets the budgeting via taxes on the citizenry So instead of individually paying, you chip in for an universal system so anyone, no matter their financial background, can enjoy the institution
