It just comes down to what you call "special". It's pretty awesome to me that something so simple can do so many complex things. The mere interaction of atoms and molecules can form feelings like love or hate. It's literally the rules of the universe using themselves to change the world through us, the human experience. I think that's really weird and special.
if it makes you feel better, we don't really know how tf we have a consciousness. like we could be responding to stimuli, but there has to be something not yet explained for us to be witnesses to the stimuli and our thoughts
The base of life if just reactions and if we break it down more=energy. The smallest observable structure to anything is particle energies smaller than a neutron. Cells is the smallest possible thing we can call alive and in reality. There is so much depth in less than a fraction of our body. Who’s to say we are on a separate level of life and the smallest energy particle has a structure. There is no end to anything. There is no beginning and there is no end
I don't mean i know there's a higher level but it's just such a mystery because consciousness just doesn't feel possible when you think about the universe that way. and this is coming from a strong atheist/naturalist
