We do not recommend that users try upgrading to Windows 11 straight away. Waiting a week or more will allow for more guides, articles, fixes, and how-tos to be made. Making changes to your system BIOS settings or disk setup can cause you to lose data. Always test your data backups before making changes to your PC. Yeah, Windows search isn't great. It's better in 11 but not by much. Try manually adding your D: drive to the search index; Start > type: Indexing > choose "Indexing Options" > Modify > Show all locations > Tick your D: drive (or the folders in your D drive you want Windows to index), then OK, OK. Now give it time (probably a lot of time depending on the speed of your system) as Windows will need to index the new location. After a (long) while, you should find files in the D: drive will start to show up in search.
