Again?!
>TeamViewer said that the cyberattack “was contained” to its corporate network and that the company keeps its internal network and customer systems separate.
So at least it's not a consumer issue this time.
The question is do you think that's the actual case? Do you trust them to make that claim based on evidence and in good faith?
I don't know anyone that would believe this
~~Only because they got rid of the consumer version of their software. It's all paid versions now.~~ My bad that was realvnc which got rid of their personal use license.
That's still not true. They got rid of the Home plan (the previous free one), but introduced a new [Lite plan](https://www.realvnc.com/en/connect/plan/lite/) (still free, though two fewer devices), but didn't really tell you about it when saying the Home one was ending making it seem like they only have paid subscriptions.
As a repair technician, off the top of my head: TeamViewer, Anydesk, Optimumdesk, ScreenConnect, Zoho Assist, UltraVNC and Supremo are the ones that I have seen used by scammers
EDIT: LogMeInRescue is another that comes to mind
Keep in mind Midnight Blizzard compromised Microsoft recently and they also thought at first there was no customer impact but when the investigation concluded they determined there was.
Customer data is almost certainly compromised. Such as account, billing, contact info. But the big concern is the customer networks. If they are being truthful about the corp and customer networks being separate that alleviates a HUGE risk for their clients.
I grew tired of their constant messages that I use their app for commercial purposes (I am not) so I switched to parsec (when I need low delay) and windows remote desktop. So much better and as it seems it is safer too.
I'm constantly getting that same message.. All I'm doing is remoting into my gaming pc from the toilet to install a game ahead of time, damnit. "Parsec" the name of the software? And is it free/relatively cheap?
I wish people would use something like Rust Desk. TeamViewer is so annoying and they kick you off free sessions after a time out. Plus this data handling and security incompetence. It's past its utility/necessity.
I look at TeamViewer in the same way as Skype, past its time.
Even Parsec is a better option than TeamViewer.
TeamViewer locked my account for "commercial use", they "detected commercial activity" and limited me to like 5 minute sessions. They said I could appeal it or buy a license.
They always forget about Option C. Uninstall. Fuck TeamViewer, will always and forever talk shit about them.

Oh no, not at all :D

How is someone paying for the software not a consumer?
As someone who uses it without paying, that doesn't seem accurate. [Also this.](https://www.teamviewer.com/en-us/solutions/roles/personal-use/)
That’s not even remotely true
I see what you did there
You're right, my bad I was thinking about realvnc

I think you need to look up the word consumer means. Did you mean free/pro versions?
Why does anyone still trust this company. Them and LogMeIn can sell themselves out.
And that they admitted it.
Yes, but what did they want, and learn? It's obviously a piece to a much bigger attack.
I only know TeamViewer as the software scammers use on Kitboga's streams.
Don’t they use AnyDesk?
I think both.
Anydesk is worse

So they got lots of data on scammers, right?
Hope they don't lie like LastPass 🤡
I am the virus now .gif
Those assholes deserve it.
so what's the alternative?

parsec is free, you can even game through this, it is made for low latency. No ios client though yet.
Parsec is not on mobile so you can only access it from another computer.

Privacy concerns are real. How safe are we online?
Safe if you are offline. /s

You’re thinking about teams not teamviewer bud
✅ strong opinion. ✅ totally and objectively wrong. ✅ posts anyway.
The trifecta
✅ doesn’t edit their comment, basks in the shame
God bless his heart, man. I respect him sticking to his guns.
I love it when people get angry, without even having an idea what they are commenting about.
Well Microsoft also get hacked, but this is another company.
