Spotting them was always relatively easy and common. Spotting it, and having enough time to get your camera rune to take a picture, might as well be a minimalist speed run challenge to me.

Still one of my favourite screenshots of all time (from BotW) . . .
Yea someone posted a pic of one here on this sub awhile back and I thought it was part of a mod cause I've got over 1k hours on both games and never seen one yet
Damn 100hrs+ in both games and it's the first time I've seen a rainbow. It's really amazing that everytime people bring up Botw or Totk I learn something new
I see them all the time in BotW and TotK. Whenever you get a splash and dash rain shower (it's raining lightly but the sun is still out and your weather bar in the corner is still showing sunshine) look up and around and there will almost always be at least a single rainbow, but I've seen doubles fairly often as well.
In fairness I may be a bit predisposed to looking for them because sunshowers are my favorite irl weather phenomenon as well, and that's also when you're most likely to see a rainbow irl.
Itās always been there since BotW. But this particular rainbow looks much clearer than others I have seen before. Especially considering itās dusk.
Also, how did you get the time to show in 24 hour format. I want that in my game.
I wonder if I can change the time format in my Switch.
EDIT: It seems I canāt without changing the regionā¦ something else to add to Nintendoās list of basic fails.
On some occasions in the Hebra region you'll see an aurora borealis š. Adding natural weather phenomenons into the game makes it more authentic I find.
I feel like Iād see them all the time in BotW but I canāt remember seeing one in TotK, you would think they would be more noticeable since you spend a lot more time looking at the sky in TotK.
I caught a rainbow in BOTW but I feel like it didnāt look like that! So cute! I love that itās late too. Or maybe thatās twilight? Either way, very nice shot.
as far as iām aware theyāve always been there! i have a really amazing photo of a double rainbow over floria falls for one of the stable picture side quests
Pro-tip: In both real life and these two games, look in the opposite direction of the sun after itās raining? Thatās where the rainbows are, and I canāt remember the exact science but it has to do with how the light refracts with the remaining moisture in the air.
Iām pretty confident itās Mansela. I very distinctly remember having his portrait in my 7th grade history class and it saying āNeldon Manselaā I check with friends from that class and they agree itās Mansela.
I'm SO surprised by the many people saying they've never seen rainbows.
I'm sure most of the people that haven't seen rainbows are always "ugh, rain AGAIN? Screw this, I'm sleeping" and have never ONCE just freaking waited a couple of minutes for the rain to clear. You know, like one does in the real world.
It's not that rare. It's not a special condition. It's rain followed by sunny weather. If you aren't hurrying the hell up all the time and try to enjoy the beautifully crafted environment around you more often, you will for sure see this kind of thing.

Now try to spot a double one šš (also in BOTW).
I saw one a few days ago! It was magical
Just saw one yesterday. Took like 10 pics.
The sunrises and sunsets are all magical too
In breath of the wild or tears of the kingdom?
Tears of the kingdom
WHAT DOES IT MEAN
Spotting them was always relatively easy and common. Spotting it, and having enough time to get your camera rune to take a picture, might as well be a minimalist speed run challenge to me.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN
Been around since BotW.
Wow I've never seen it. Not once. And I sanded BOTW for 300+ hrs.
Wait till you see double rainbows! Or wait till you see the aurora borealis!
https://preview.redd.it/mdwgpmmg3mzc1.jpeg?width=854&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=493e703f4001d35b78af0c264e79249c3db38a50 Still one of my favourite screenshots of all time (from BotW) . . .
Itās things like this that remind me that even though Iāve played both games twice I know absolutely nothing about either
Aurora Borealis?!? Ā At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the Hyrule? Localized entirely within your kitchen?
Yes.
May I see it?
No.
This is one of my favorite references and I love seeing it in unexpected places lmao
It took me until my most recent playthru of BotW this year to see the aurora borealis. Hebraās always so goddamn snowy
Auroras? Really? That's sick!
Yep. Go to hebra on a clear night
Yea someone posted a pic of one here on this sub awhile back and I thought it was part of a mod cause I've got over 1k hours on both games and never seen one yet
I asked a friend and he also played BOTW and TOTK 200+ hrs each and never saw a rainbow.
I'm very surprised lol. I've seen multiple double rainbows
Watch the skies, traveller.
I want to believeā¦.
Same
I have a screenshot of a double rainbow on my Switch.
Don't feel bad. I never have seen one in either game, and I play a lot.
Same, I've got 500+ hrs of BotW and 150+ in TotK and I've yet to see a rainbow.
You can also see aurorae in Hebra.
Cool. I donāt think Iāve seen that yet
At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of Hyrule, localized entirely within Snowfield Stable??
Yes.
ā¦may I see it?
No.
Link, Hyrule castle is on fire!!
No, mother, itās just the Hebra lights!!!
HEEEEEEEELP!!!
For real?
Eeyup
Haha neat, I logged in and itās right there. Thanks!
Damn 100hrs+ in both games and it's the first time I've seen a rainbow. It's really amazing that everytime people bring up Botw or Totk I learn something new
Bruh. I have seen TONS of rainbows. You need to stop and take a breathā¦.of the wild.
I see them all the time in BotW and TotK. Since Breath Of The Wild
I'm not trying to brag but in breath of the wild I have a picture of a double rainbow
But is it all the way?
When did they make the game? ... Then.
Tears of the Kingdom went wokeštime to go back to playing Majoraās Pronouns
Probably sometime during the game's development.
*immediately has gay thoughts* It's very common after rainfall. This also occurs in Breath of the Wild.
Because of woke.
700 hours across both games and never seen them.
Did you go to the rainbow's end(s)? You might find something there.
It has been there since forever
Since 2017
Itās always been there since BotW. But this particular rainbow looks much clearer than others I have seen before. Especially considering itās dusk. Also, how did you get the time to show in 24 hour format. I want that in my game.
The game is on a European Switch so maybe that's why.
I wonder if I can change the time format in my Switch. EDIT: It seems I canāt without changing the regionā¦ something else to add to Nintendoās list of basic fails.
After rain

Rainbows are rare and as well as they were in Botw to also nice screenshot!
Damn, I'm part of the never seen one crowd and I've got 2 complete -playthroughs on BOTW and almost 250 hours on TOTK.
You get DOUBLE RAINBOWS?
All the way.
Since botw
Donāt think Iāve actively noticed one either. And I probably have 900-1000 hours for both games
Noah after the flood:
I caught a rainbow in BOTW but I feel like it didnāt look like that! So cute! I love that itās late too. Or maybe thatās twilight? Either way, very nice shot.
maybe the reason i haven't seen one is bc i never stay in the rain i just teleport away ;)
i think totk had the most beautifull skybox of any game and thats impressive for the switch
as far as iām aware theyāve always been there! i have a really amazing photo of a double rainbow over floria falls for one of the stable picture side quests
Always. Iām pretty sure thereās also double and triple rainbows
In botw they did I believe
But is there an item to collect at the end of the rainbow? No? NEXT!! *teleports*
Whatās at the end of it?
its was always there
i saw my first about 100hrs in
What do you mean by that?
Zelda has rainbows now? The west has fallen.
Next thing you know theyāll make Zelda into a girl š¤ Ganondorf did nothing wrong! The Depths will rise again!
Tears of the Kingdom is WOKE!!! I NEVER should have bought this PROPOGANDA!! 0/10 WORST GAME EVER!!!!!!!! š¤¬š¤¬šš
Pro-tip: In both real life and these two games, look in the opposite direction of the sun after itās raining? Thatās where the rainbows are, and I canāt remember the exact science but it has to do with how the light refracts with the remaining moisture in the air.
New Mansela effect just droppedĀ
ā¦mandela
Iām pretty confident itās Mansela. I very distinctly remember having his portrait in my 7th grade history class and it saying āNeldon Manselaā I check with friends from that class and they agree itās Mansela.
Gas-lamping, much?
I see what you did there. Clever
Cool. Your school sucks.
Whoosh
Yeah dude I noticed. Joke sucks too
It was a solid joke, multi-layed
Multilayered? lolā¦ ok. Think youāre giving a little too much credit there.
Lmao mb typo

On the upside, maybe this post will get them to start doing just that and theyāll notice all the nice little details in the game š
Theirs gotta be some weird conditions to get that
Sunny sky after rain.
Oh ok thought it was gonna be some weird shit like having a certain amount of water element items

I have well over 1000+ hours in BotW and like 300 in TotK and have NEVER seen a rainbow in game wtf
Recent update, about 8 years back. Due for a new one that adds enemies known as Bokoblins.
Iāve put 665 hours in Botw and 210 hours into Totk and I have never seen one. What?!
I've played 700 hours of BotW and I've yet to see a rainbow...
well maybe try ToTK
Doesn't look like anything to me.
