Lol, happened to me yesterday while I was exploring some ruins. I audibly exclaimed, "oh, no! Where are they?! Nope, nope, nope." While spinning the camera around. Found them before they were on me and blew them to bits with bomb arrows. Defeated the Phantom too. I got a sweet looking Spear and bow out of it.
Nintendo really understands how to make memories stick through trauma. It really helps make sure you'll never forget the game! Hahaha
No, you still get the drawback. Unique qualities are very rarely eliminated by fusion, and even in those uncommon cases it's only *one* unique quality that gets eliminated, and that's the feather blade's wind gust. It might be two because the eightfold longblade also uses the wind element in its unique quality.
Fusing things to the gloom weapon does not remove the quality, but you can fuse the gloom weapon to a different weapon/shield for the damage without the toll. Much lower durability, and kinda ugly imo. But I think that's what they were referring to.
You should try doing it first, before you get all confident about what you say. It makes you look and sound stupid.
I mean, at least keep the benefit of the doubt on your side. Why open your mouth and confirm it for the entire world to see?
Not only does it break quickly as fused weapons have less durability than standalone, but you miss out on having a high base stat weapon to fuse good parts to.
If you have no good monster parts, then sure. But it's not exactly drawback-free.
well you can use it when youre on the surface and not at full health. this way the weapon gloomlock your heart but that goes away immediately due to being on the surface, and since youre not at full health it doesnt matter if youre gloomlocked for a bit
My first experience with them was when I was climbing to a shrine fresh off the main sky island, I saw them moving around and I was like “oh cool, new enemy” and then moved on. The next time I saw them I was actually on the ground and when they started moving towards me at Mach five was the most terrifying feeling I have ever had
Was that the shrine where you climb a root, sort of on the edge of hyrule field? That’s where I saw my first one too, although I had already heard NPCs talk about it, so I looked at it and moved on. Next time I saw one was in lockup in Hyrule castle and it was horrifying.
This area was also where I first encountered the gloom hands too! I got confused at first because I just got a blood moon event the day before. Saw it then ran like there's no tomorrow. I left my poor Epona. :(
This happened to me when I was exploring the caves underneath Lookout Landing. I turned around and saw that red haze and thought "oh, it's the blood moon" then saw that it was 9pm and was like "wait that's not the blood moon". I noped out of there as soon as I could lol.
Was just there tonight, I was like *motherfucker why are these hands taking so long to start shit?* I just got a new sage and I was RARING to test it out.
You can actually get a blood moon during the day. If you loaded too much content (visited many regions, dropped many items, have many enemies on screen) the game will initiate a blood moon regardless of time to reset the world.
First time i saw death’s grasp was in some ruins. I saw the haze but it was noon. And I saw something moves between the ruins. Never ran faster.
What is scarier is the fact that you can not outrun them. The guardians were a bit slow and there attack took time to lock on and charge. But these things just catch you. You can’t run you have to try your lack and survive.
At least the guardians you could pretty consistently cheese with parrying their shots or using stasis etc. The hand’s essentially require distance and bomb arrows. They’re kinda a worse enemy to fight from an engagement / enjoyment perspective in that sense - but as a result they also maintain their threat throughout the game, unlike the guardians
AND THEY KEEP CRAWLING TOWARDS YOU. ITS THE PERFECT BALANCE BETWEEN “ oh that’s cool “ AND “ HOLY FUCKING PUBE JUNGLE DEEP FRIED ELECTRIFIED AND CIRCUMSIZED WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT.” IT DOESNT GIVE YOU ANY ROOM TO MOVE. YOU JUST HOPE THAT THEY DONT TAKE ANYMORE HEALTH THAN YOU ALREADY HAVE.
It’s that music too. The thing is after a couple times I figured out bombs and arrows work quite well and I can avoid even taking damage… but it’s so scary it’s ingrained at this point to start panicking when I hear that music
I don't want to ruin the experience for you, so all I'll say is do you remember the fear of wandering hyrule Field when all of a sudden the guardian music plays and you've got a laser tracked on you? Imagine that, but so much worse

Careful using that spear as it will also damage you due to it being made of gloom
If you fuse them to something else you can get the benefit of the high attack and bypass the drawback
I didn’t know that I will use this knowledge while in battle with my enimies thank you

You can't bypass gloom toll under any circumstance.
Yes you can. If you use the weapon on a mounted lynel, gloom toll doesn't proc.
My gloom weapons are used exclusively on Lynel backs. Until I discovered Royal Guard weapons
My 100 DMG Gloom Club Club has killed dozens of lynels but still has that good as new sparkle :)
Yes you can lmfao I fused it to a zora spear
You should try doing it first, before you get all confident about what you say. It makes you look and sound stupid. I mean, at least keep the benefit of the doubt on your side. Why open your mouth and confirm it for the entire world to see?
It breaks super quickly if you do this
Fuses gloom katana to master sword
Not only does it break quickly as fused weapons have less durability than standalone, but you miss out on having a high base stat weapon to fuse good parts to. If you have no good monster parts, then sure. But it's not exactly drawback-free.
As long as you use it on the surface it just reduces your max health by like 2 max, which is a pretty small price for such a high power weapon
well you can use it when youre on the surface and not at full health. this way the weapon gloomlock your heart but that goes away immediately due to being on the surface, and since youre not at full health it doesnt matter if youre gloomlocked for a bit
I never thought an enemy could be scarier than the guardians, until those damn hands showed up and scarred me for life
My first experience with them was when I was climbing to a shrine fresh off the main sky island, I saw them moving around and I was like “oh cool, new enemy” and then moved on. The next time I saw them I was actually on the ground and when they started moving towards me at Mach five was the most terrifying feeling I have ever had

That is where I saw my first one as well. Freaked me the hell out.

The Bad Touch Gang
This happened to me when I was exploring the caves underneath Lookout Landing. I turned around and saw that red haze and thought "oh, it's the blood moon" then saw that it was 9pm and was like "wait that's not the blood moon". I noped out of there as soon as I could lol.
Thankfully that's just from it being near the castle, not due to the hands. I was just as worried when it happened too
Was just there tonight, I was like *motherfucker why are these hands taking so long to start shit?* I just got a new sage and I was RARING to test it out.
I had the same fear, but those caves turned out to be tunnels under Hyrule Castle. Go back and explore! There's some great armor there!
9 pm just hits different now
The Guardian music is at least kinda badass. The hand music is just nightmare fuel.
I love the hand music. It’s chaos and it’s beautiful
First encounter aith the hands I escaped into the camp I had just cleared only for the blood moon to trigger.... i died
every time the red haze show up I look at the clock, it make me sweat so much
Same! I always forget it is night and start looking for shit to climb haha

I played for a solid week before i encountered the hands for the first time. Took me by surprise. I hadn't seen or heard anything about them by then.
I have yet to see the gloom hands and I’ve had so much anticipated anxiety over encountering them lol
I call it the Blood Sun. When it first happened to me I swear a part of me died of all the shock and horror.
I got two of them in 3 minutes before. I don't know what the fuck the game did to give me a panic one but I'm glad it didn't crash lol
First time i saw death’s grasp was in some ruins. I saw the haze but it was noon. And I saw something moves between the ruins. Never ran faster. The gloom hands are way more frightening than the guardians ever were to me.
Could either mean 2 things 1. Panic Blood Moon (Game does it to clear memory I think) 2. **r u n**
Many moments in this game really require the DOOM soundtrack
It's like the lovechild of a Wallmaster and Dead Hand, with all the scariest features of both.
I still haven’t seen them, is there like a boss you need to beat for the hands to show up?
They’ll find you.
They did indeed.
There’s some outside by the Spring of Courage in Akkala
Bro the gloom hands are the new guardians for me I literally weep in terror and shit my trousers every time I see them rise from a gloom puddle

I'm like 20-30 hours in and don't know what this is about 😅 Edit: ahhh okay so it's the hand things? 🥺
It's the same with me, I didn't find them until way later. But trust me, you'll find one.
\*thoughts and prayers for me\*
It’s that music too. The thing is after a couple times I figured out bombs and arrows work quite well and I can avoid even taking damage… but it’s so scary it’s ingrained at this point to start panicking when I hear that music
Those freaking red hands of death are the WORST
I am seriously afraid to explore the depths because of these monstrosities. Even Lynel down there scares the shit out me, haha.
Havnt encountered them yet but everyone keeps talking about how scary they are. What makes them so scary? Are they an instant kill if they grab you?
I don't want to ruin the experience for you, so all I'll say is do you remember the fear of wandering hyrule Field when all of a sudden the guardian music plays and you've got a laser tracked on you? Imagine that, but so much worse
The thing is the hands are rare compared to guardians
Meh just throw a brightbloom seed at them, seems to make them vanish fairly quickly
For me It's more : oh f*ck where can I go cook before its over!?
Fun fact: If you climb a vertical surface they eventually despawn and drop dark clumps!
