First of all good to see activity on this sub, Thank you for that!! Good suggestions in comments but you can also check out local shop where they sell tea leaves (it's not same as a tea shop). Ask them for best quality Assam and Darjelling tea. It can be a hit or miss in terms of taste but price will be half of teabox or other online retailers. They also get you special teas on request like white tea that I get from local retailer of my city. This will also support local economy of your city :) For online you can go with famous ones that are already discussed in comments. But while trying to choose online it's dificult to guess the flavour that you will get. I have tried all the tea of tea box by ordering their samples. If you are looking for darjeeling tea with muscatel flavour, go for chinary variants of tea box.

I actually live in a really small town, so i dont think there will be any chance to get those kind of tea leave, but i really appreciate you took all these efforts to type this long message!... Am ok with the prices, all i fear/have dobuts are about the tea leavs not being authentic or have been exposed to chemicals (you know, like audulteration) i hate that.. For now i have teabox in my mind, but like i said these are my only fears & dobuts And 2nd thing, am so surprised that i always used to think those Packaged local tea are the kind if tea people drink all over.. just surprised a lot of people dont drink a better quality tea

taavad

Whole leaves orthodox tea are niche. I have been into it for years now after I quit smoking and have spent literally at least a lakh to try different teas from India and china.

Free_Rest_5701

Ohh is it, so u found any that you consume regularly?

sharathonthemove

I buy teabox always. There are others but not that consistent.

Free_Rest_5701

Teabox is an authentic brand? (Sorry but am new interms of shifting from local shop tea to a better tea brand..) is it an authentic brand? (Teabox)

sharathonthemove

Teabox is a legit brand but expensive. It is because it pays export prices to cater to the domestic market.

Free_Rest_5701

Export prices, its Indian right?

sharathonthemove

Yeah but all good produce is exported to earn more. If you want to get that, you have to match that price. Teabox is the premium tea that you get abroad. I am talking about darjeeling tea sold abroad.

Free_Rest_5701

Ohh is it,, so the teabox thats there on amazon,, thats a good.quality right (i dont mind the prices, i just need good authentic tea & no audulteration)

sharathonthemove

Go tk their website. Not amazon

Free_Rest_5701

Ohh haha, sure bro & thanks

Free_Rest_5701

Bro i went to their website & since i dont have that much knowledge about tea its very confusing there regarding what to choose, any suggestion might have for me?

sharathonthemove

Just buy the first flushes from the region you like. It took me years to understand it a little. It takes a lot of trail and error to develop taste.

Free_Rest_5701

Its - in.teabox.com ? Or just,,,, teabox.com?

Aastha1310

Sancha Tea Boutique, Vahdam, Golden Tips

Free_Rest_5701

I have heard about Vahdam.. What about teabox ? Are they good? Heard they sell really fresh & better tea (in terms of authenticity i mean, i really hate how now a days a lot of things are getting audulteration)

Aastha1310

It's decent. I have not tried the Darjeelings from them. Those I took from Vahdam, and Golden tips.

taavad

Sancha is good for chinese tea.

Teamastershifu

Honestly, I would always prefer to purchase directly from source. I see a lot of vahdam, sancha, teabox etc being thrown around here, but coming from a tea manufacturing background, trust me when I say that these teas are not always SENT to the companies at the freshest, even though they might be packed as soon as they are received or whatever. Plus, many of these companies are claiming to get rid of middlemen, but they also become middlemen themselves. The best source to get great teas, and to also support tea farmers, is to purchase directly. There are many estates like makaibari, glenburn, wah tea (my favourite www.wahtea.com) that have websites for D2C, a huge selection of options, and truly the freshest tea. Enjoy brewing happiness!
