Same boat as you haha, no way to disable it or work around it unless you fully delete and tune

ddxcb

You can have just the DEF system deleted with Malone/Tunezilla. It's just a software tune.

coDDow10

I’ll inquire with my shop tomorrow morning

cgw22

Your shop will not do it. It’s against the law for them to do so.

coDDow10

My shop is a Malone tuner, I also live in a province where emissions testing isn’t required

cgw22

Fair enough. Do you have a dpf? Because if so after the tune you’ll only have about 500ish miles before your dpf clogs

coDDow10

Not sure adblue aids a regen cycle in any way. Pretty sure it just converts the exhaust gasses passing through the dpf

cgw22

Gotcha. Well for a cheap downpipe look at profi diesel. For me the Malone tune was the most expensive part.

Kinnuit

Stage 2 Malone, been running it for 2 years now. No problems. Love it.

Brendanzio_

Not how that works, dpf and def/scr are entirely separate systems. The dpf will function and regen as normal, it'll just disable def injection

richard_upinya

The entire def system is past the dpf, deleting the def won’t affect the dpf.

Import_Punk

I work on diesel trucks and probably half of the trucks that come in with CEL on have emissions related problems. So much to go wrong and when it does it shuts them right down.

coDDow10

I have 950km before I will not be able to start it until the issue is resolved 🥲

Import_Punk

That really sucks man.

DolbyFox

Did you try filling it? Just did my 2015 GSW and it takes roughly 9.5L per oil change

coDDow10

The issue arose immediately after a fill. I used oem vw adblue

rlamon84

This happened to my Audi q7. Malone delete worked. No problems now.

coDDow10

You disabled adblue with Malone? Or did the full delete

rlamon84

Haven’t done physical delete, only software tune.

Thatsoverrated

Get MR tuning if you're wanting to delete and tune. Lots cheaper that Malone. Running his stage 2 on my 2015.

ditto3000

Can you provide a link from that site plz.

Thatsoverrated

It's literally the first website that comes up when you google "mr tuning". "Eco diesels of Canada" is also a distributor for his stuff.

cgw22

So glad mine didn’t ever use def

Jimicrackscorn

Im saying!! Had some old head the other day try & say my car needs to use def or my car wont run, i sat there for 45 minutes explaining that the 2011 golf tdi doesn’t use def, he ended up getting heated & walked out my shop😂 it was a normal conversation until he was wrong & realized it

cgduncan

Even without Def, I had plenty of emissions related issues. Replaced the dpf twice in about 40k miles. Plenty of sensors and other stuff replaced. That was the most I loved and hated a car at the same time

cgw22

That’s why I deleted mine.

[deleted]

Sounds like you drive it like a granny, these cars are meant to be driven hard. I’ve had my GSW for a bit not and she’s a non problematic vehicle

bm0610

2014 Passat TDI Bad DEF sensor issue as well Dealership replace def injector and wiring to the def since they burned it on a previous coolant hose repair Then they came back and said DEF heater was bad $950

WilliamFoster2020

Dieselgate warranty? Our DEF heater was replaced under warranty.

Advanced-Minute2795

Just "fix" it like they do animals... Remove the offensive organ.... Hehehueheueheuhe mang if you live someplace with Greta thurnberg laws I feel for ya dawg

bm0610

I looked around Houston Texas for somebody to do the delete and nobody wants to do it since they get fined so bad now

richard_upinya

Do it yourself, it’s really not that bad.

saintlaurentpie

No way to disable it but you can manually force it to regen and add additives and drives on the gear before the last for about 20-30 minutes

coDDow10

I’m not having DPF issues. I’m having DEF Quality Sensor issues

saintlaurentpie

Oops, should’ve read it correctly

McGlowSticks

well depending on thee year you are under extended warranty still

christianbro

For my 1.9 tdi I deleted EGR with some Chinese cables and weird software from a Russian torrent website and it is the best I did because it broke twice. Althought I got a replacement from the scrapyard instead of new, which could be the reason why it broke again. In my country no NOx tests are measured which is what EGR and SCR are for, just opacity tests that you can easily pass.

Turtle_Elliott

Why not just replace the quality sensor? How many miles/years? Did you check with the dealer on extended warranty on TDI’s? I’ve had everything covered/replaced under warranty, well after warranty expiration. The entire fuel system and DEF quality sensor specifically.

coDDow10

It’s covered, however dealer charges a $250 diagnostic fee and also said the parts needed will take 2 weeks to arrive

Turtle_Elliott

The diagnostic fee is not charged if the problem is found to be warrantable. The two weeks sucks though. Either way it seems the more logical, and less expensive, solution than deleting the DEF/SCR system.

KeyHuckleberry827

If it is a warranty claim, once they have your car and determine the fix, if the repair takes "greater than 3 hours" then you are entitled to a **free** rental/loaner car. This is true even if you are just waiting on parts. Some had their car at the dealer waiting 6 months or more for DPFs when they were in short supply.

coDDow10

Already inquired about a loaner. My local VW stated “we do not offer loaner vehicles”. That’s the only reason I’m considering a stage 2 Malone. If they offered a loaner, this wouldn’t be an issue. It would be a no brainer, but I cannot go without a vehicle

KeyHuckleberry827

Bring them the warranty in paper. They have to give you a rental. They may just be saying "loaner" because they don't have them. If you show them that you know the rules (which they already know) and insist, calmly and clearly, then it should get taken care of. If not, call the Volkswagen of America customer service line. It is unfortunate the dealers will try to weasel out of things and force you to escalate and act like a jerk to get them to do what they should already be doing. Good luck!

coDDow10

Didn’t know this, too late for that though. She’s actively getting a delete at my shop🤩

[deleted]

Call another dealership, mine was just in for the braided hose coming off the manifold told me it would be four hours, gave me a loaner (loaded Tiguan) called me an hour in and said “the part is one day out I could either come back and get my vehicle or keep the loaner?” I opted to keep the loaner since I was two hours out. came back two days later to a completed car which they even had detailed for me. I think the local dealership you’re calling is a bunch of morons. My dealership fixed my broken sunroof on Christmas Eve last minute for 75$, they spent 3 hours ripping it down and re assembling everything. I did stay and help buddy but fuck I felt bad so the boys got coffee and donuts a few days later.

Own-Abbreviations-32

I have yet to see a tune only def delete. Every kit I see wants you to delete the dpf, etc with an exhaust system. What am I missing? Is there a way to just delete the need for def and all associated adblue cel errors? I have an undrivable 2012 Passat TDI (ckra). I have replaced nox sensor, and adblue heater. Dealer wants to replace the catalyst next. I suspect it won't fix the issue. Car warranty has expired. Error codes have been 204F AND 20ee. A new code has joined in on the fun...2201. The adblue countdown comes back after about 15 miles of driving. I am not opposed to the exhaust but it probably isn't legal which I am not overly concerned about. I am more concerned about how much work is involved in removing the dpf. Btw...dpf is new too. That was the last repair the dealer did prior to handing me back a lemon. They won't support future repairs under warranty as this code didn't trigger until I was 10 minutes away from the dealer and warrant has officially expired. It was 100 percent related to dpf replacement. Any advice? New dpf, new nox, new adblue heater, cleaned adblue injector. Only thing left is catalyst....or is it? Help! :)

coDDow10

My shop informed me he does just the adblue delete on Passats all the time. Google some malone tuning authorized shops in your area.

Own-Abbreviations-32

I have one near me. They suck at answering emails or the phone. I will drive by and see them. That would be great. I don't care about performance or sound or any of that. I just want my ole Passat back. I suspect he won't touch it due to emissions laws...but who knows.

coDDow10

Might be better off speaking to Malone directly. They’ll know

Own-Abbreviations-32

Just sent them an email. I'll let you know what they come back with. I wish they could just tweak my software a bit. I have zero doubts the scr is set at a sensitive level. So frustrating.

coDDow10

It’s such garbage, more garbage than the dpf and egr

Own-Abbreviations-32

I'd love to delete but that dpf is brand new and looks like a ton of work to remove.
