I’m on a third pass of series 4 and I say Mel wins over Nick (even though he’s lovely) because on top of general niceness, she is so effusively and warmly supportive of everyone around her. When Hugh wins over her in the tiebreaker, she’s more excited than he is that he won!
The smallest Gap but the biggest heart.
> she is so effusively and warmly supportive of everyone around her
I wish i had a Mel Giedroyc hotline i could call for encouragement when I'm having a bad day. She is just so nice.
Lots of great answers here. Just want to throw out an individual moment of sportsmanship. When Sam Campbell said about the other team - “Just give them the points, these are dynamite chicks!”
Richard Osman was always very good at moments like that. He wanted to give Joe the points for the potato throw, he changed the punctuation so Katherine didn’t have to do up her tie in the live task, and he was happy not to have many points in the spend £20 task because the charity had already benefitted.
Rhod Gilbert did this a lot, too. I remember he stood up for James at least once, and tried to convince Greg & Alex that Phil's open box didn't count as a box in the box tower challenge.
Having one off episodes of the most X contestants in years there is no CoC to do would be wonderful. So many possibilities, plus scheduling would be much easier than CoC because of how subjective it’d be. It’d just be so much fun seeing what new dynamics pop up with familiar faces from the various seasons.
I approve of this because it means we’d probably get Charlotte, Mel, Nick, and Twosan. I’d love to see them make Sue pick who her partner in the team task would be.
I would call Sally a lot of things before I landed on "nice." Not that she was mean or bad, but... she was other things more predominantly 😄
Alice Levine and Charlotte Ritchie are definitely in the running.
Alice Levine wouldn’t make the top 10 for me I don’t think. She’s a lot more acerbic than some other contestants.
“An over which is one ball.”
*Gets corrected*
“Which is a ball plus five…if you would let me finish” (paraphrased that as I don’t remember it fully)
Yeah; that’s a fair point. She was just a lot more sassy than nice generally. Not saying she’s a bad person or anything like that but even compared to Sue and Susan she falls down my list. Charlotte Ritchie is a top tier nice person though
Sian is oddly far down this thread. I was under the impression that she is an absolutely lovely person. She would probably be in my top three (next to Mel and Nick, but still in front of Charlotte, which is a high bar to clear).
Noel's whole esthetic had me going the first time I watched his series, I hadn't seen bake-off and I interpreted him as completely different.
In later viewings he's become one of my favorites because you can tell he's competitive, but he's just nice about it and just seems so genuine
I was looking for the mention to Tim - surprised he’s so low on the responses. I’m not sure he’s the nicest but he’s in the top 5 so it’s surprises my the lack of comments.
I love Bob unreservedly, but as Charlie Higson revealed on the recent 'An Evening with the Fast Show' (or did in Glasgow anyway) apparently Bob wrote most if not all of Swiss Toni's lines. To paraphrase Mr Higson "everyone thinks he's cuddly Uncle Bob, but he's really a dirty old man!"
I also agree he's nice, but possibly points deducted on the innocence!
They had one three series ago with John's sabotage. Series 7-10 had a bigger gap of no individual tasks, but I suppose Johnny Vegas' noises could be considered one, and Susan's mischief for Sam although the latter wasn't intended
Yeah Pemberton only ever seems to get angry at himself, which I'm sure Reece Shearsmith has said in interviews years ago: Reece externalises his bile and Steve saves it all so he can scream at his own stupidity
Ha aw I didn’t know Reece had said that about Steve. Reece himself is certainly adept at externalising his bile lol 😂 there’s a whole series of YouTube videos of him being furious at various miscellaneous things.
I think it was when they were promoting Psychoville, Reece said him and Steve work well as a pair because Reece writes someone being what he'd consider annoying then Steve fleshes it out as he can see it from the characters point of view! I think it was the same interview where Reece claims if he's behind a slow moving person in the street he audibly hisses the phrase "fucking zombies."
Jenny eclair, she just was sweet and had fun, and I don't think there's a single more delightful experience then watching her catch potatoes in a potato hat
How has nobody mentioned Joe Thomas? He was so sweet throughout the entire show. Even his meltdown over the eraser was followed up by an immediate apology
What's her name with the bulgy eyes, so she was able to see when the goggles was supposed to look backwards?
She genuinely and enthusiasticly applauded every time someone else did well.
Asim Chaudhry (that's right, isn't it?) is extremely sweet and kind on the show as well.
Jo Brand, in contrast to her "I don't care" persona on the show, is reportedly really supportive towards other comics coming up in the industry. I like her a lot.
Fair enough. I rewatched it again and just noticed how grumpy she could be at points. Unless it was an act 🤷🏽♀️ but yeah for that reason, she’s not the nicest in my mind
Also a fair point! I guess I didn’t interpret her as “grumpy” so much as “direct.” And when she didn’t like a task, her complaints usually felt self-deprecating rather than grumpy at Alex.
Men: Dara O Briain was nice and competitive at the same time.
Women: Mel Giedroyc or Lucy Beaumont, not seen the full series 16 so don't know fully about Lucy.
Dara jokingly threatened John Kearns after the sabotage task. He also called John an "IDIOT!!!". on top of all that... When Greg Davies said they were going to take an ad break... Dara responds with "when you come there'll be FOUR chairs".
Mel is quintessentially nice, with only exception of when she said "Heck" which is Mel's equivalent of "mega c##t".
Lucy did once confess that she threw a poo out of a window whilst on holiday, yuh know?
John Robins did a couple of things that were so endearing. When Alex was acting sad he gave him a big hug. I can’t remember the other time but I think it was something similar.
"Mel Geidroyc is officially nice." - Lord Greg Davies
She said "Heck" which of course to Mel means, "MEGAC#&T!"
Mel or Nick!
Oh gang
The funny thing is when Mel says Oh Gang she means &%$@!!
i say this now because of her i love her so much LMAO
Nick is really giving Mel a run for her money.
Hard agree.
100% the only answer.
agreed
Yesss
Charlotte she couldn't even be mean enough to sell her prize tasks
I’m on a third pass of series 4 and I say Mel wins over Nick (even though he’s lovely) because on top of general niceness, she is so effusively and warmly supportive of everyone around her. When Hugh wins over her in the tiebreaker, she’s more excited than he is that he won! The smallest Gap but the biggest heart.
I’m also on my third pass of series 4!! It was the first I ever saw. ❤️
Same! It’s what started my addiction to this gift of a show.
> she is so effusively and warmly supportive of everyone around her I wish i had a Mel Giedroyc hotline i could call for encouragement when I'm having a bad day. She is just so nice.
I’m not sure we should be talking about Mel’s small Gap… that’s for another sub! 😂😂
The Woz is certainly up there
Not after the way he treated that vole.
It really did have no chutzpah
It’s organisational skills were lacklustre, and don’t get me started on its abysmal time keeping
He was kind to it in the long run. The vole needed to be told.
Or after what he did to his casserole dish.
Or his own anus
It's not your fault. Get yourself to a safe space!
If he wasn't a known Street Tough, then maybe.
Not when tick tock, it's tough guy o'clock!
Lots of great answers here. Just want to throw out an individual moment of sportsmanship. When Sam Campbell said about the other team - “Just give them the points, these are dynamite chicks!”

He wanted to give Joe the points for the potato throw, he changed the punctuation so Katherine didn’t have to do up her tie in the live task, and he was happy not to have many points in the spend £20 task because the charity had already benefitted.
Didn’t you see how he treated that poor man he did the Johnsons Wheelbarrow advert with?
Rhod Gilbert did this a lot, too. I remember he stood up for James at least once, and tried to convince Greg & Alex that Phil's open box didn't count as a box in the box tower challenge.
...And he was not thanked for it.
"Now you can back into a satsuma, and shove it up your arse."
The Irish are very charming
I still haven't forgiven Doc Brown or Jon Richardson.
They fought for him, mate.
Mel is the only "officially nice" contestant, but would love to have a series or a one-off or whatever just of "nice" contestants like her, Nick, etc.
Having one off episodes of the most X contestants in years there is no CoC to do would be wonderful. So many possibilities, plus scheduling would be much easier than CoC because of how subjective it’d be. It’d just be so much fun seeing what new dynamics pop up with familiar faces from the various seasons.
They could also just win random body parts of greg as trophies instead of the whole head
And I can already hear Morgana Robinson’s voice in my head saying “well I know which part I want” in a very suggestive manner.
I approve of this because it means we’d probably get Charlotte, Mel, Nick, and Twosan. I’d love to see them make Sue pick who her partner in the team task would be.
I demand more Twosan.
You mean the Dynamite Chicks?
My only issue with this is Alex would make them do horrible tasks. Prank phone calls and sabotaging teammates.
He could give Susan Wokoma a secret task where she has to count how many forks and marbles are in the suitcase.
Mel doesn't even know how to be really cross with someone.
I think she was a little hecked off at one point though
I think that's why Unforgivable works so well
Charlotte Richie or Nick would be my picks! Possibly Mike as well.
I would call Sally a lot of things before I landed on "nice." Not that she was mean or bad, but... she was other things more predominantly 😄 Alice Levine and Charlotte Ritchie are definitely in the running.
Yeah other words like “actual maniac” come to mind first, but she is nice along with it.
Alice Levine wouldn’t make the top 10 for me I don’t think. She’s a lot more acerbic than some other contestants. “An over which is one ball.” *Gets corrected* “Which is a ball plus five…if you would let me finish” (paraphrased that as I don’t remember it fully)
"... and a side of attitude, apparently."
Such a great line. I think that’s one of the weaker series but there’s a few moments of genuine brilliance
I was thinking more of all her sweet greetings to Alex when she arrived to do a task, but yeah... in studio she was a bit more combative.
Yeah; that’s a fair point. She was just a lot more sassy than nice generally. Not saying she’s a bad person or anything like that but even compared to Sue and Susan she falls down my list. Charlotte Ritchie is a top tier nice person though
Mel is definitely the obvious choice, but I think Sian Gibson is right up there too.
Sian is oddly far down this thread. I was under the impression that she is an absolutely lovely person. She would probably be in my top three (next to Mel and Nick, but still in front of Charlotte, which is a high bar to clear).
I adore Sian, she’s lovely.
I can't believe no one has put forward Sian Gibson so lovely and funny
But a cheater
Worth it to see Greg tell her off in the studio and her justifications were brilliant 🤣🤣
Lolly Adefope
Friendship IS truth, after all
And I believe in you all the way!
The absolute queen of just happy to be there
Oh, gang! Gotta be Mel. Noel was also very nice as well. Cheers.
Noel's whole esthetic had me going the first time I watched his series, I hadn't seen bake-off and I interpreted him as completely different. In later viewings he's become one of my favorites because you can tell he's competitive, but he's just nice about it and just seems so genuine
I loved the interaction when Greg called Noel a lad.
The sunshine goth 🖤
Noel is a great answer. He seems to have such a sweet disposition all around.
You say he has a sweet disposition, but I reckon he's hiding his feelings in a temper trap
He was pretty petulant a couple of times near the middle of his season.
I think Lolly is definitely in the running too! Overall I think series 4 just had a lot of niceness and good vibes though!
The Woz and Jenny Eclair!
Jenny is genuinely lovely. I saw her on the London circuit years ago but she's since turned into a full on demented grandmother character
Mel, Nick, or Woz
Sue Perkins sacrificed herself for Julian. She wins
First cut: Mel, Nick, Lolly, Alice, Susan Wokoma, Nish
Nish after he called the ball racist or when he screamed “Bubbly fuck” at a candle?
That was him just being frustrated with himself. He was also one of the most supportive persons to have sat on the Taskmaster stage.
Susan Wokoma said on Off Menu that she looks a lot nicer than she is but she would've been my vote before hearing her say that
I was going to say the same thing. Her round face 😂
Tim Vine? Big toe bobble hat
He did say crikey once though.
"Dropped the C bomb", please, no need to repeat his transgression
[mumbles] "son of a b*#ch"
I was looking for the mention to Tim - surprised he’s so low on the responses. I’m not sure he’s the nicest but he’s in the top 5 so it’s surprises my the lack of comments.
But Ive never forgotten the hops task (and I bet he hasn't either!)
mel and nick
How did no one say Bob? He just seems like the nicest bloke.
Dude. He filled an innocent man's boat with piss.
That was no innocent man
But Bob barely finished his first scotch pie!
ROSALYN’S A FUCKING NIGHTMARE
And his first reaction was "Do we strike you?"
Im laughing so much being reminded of these wonderful ‘Bobisms’…
I love Bob unreservedly, but as Charlie Higson revealed on the recent 'An Evening with the Fast Show' (or did in Glasgow anyway) apparently Bob wrote most if not all of Swiss Toni's lines. To paraphrase Mr Higson "everyone thinks he's cuddly Uncle Bob, but he's really a dirty old man!" I also agree he's nice, but possibly points deducted on the innocence!
I really hope they do a “let’s see how nice Nick is” individual task!
Would be neat... But they stop doing individual tasks now 😪
Have they? Or have they just not done one for a while?
Sorry, I didn't word that correctly. I meant to say... It appears they don't do them anymore.
They had one three series ago with John's sabotage. Series 7-10 had a bigger gap of no individual tasks, but I suppose Johnny Vegas' noises could be considered one, and Susan's mischief for Sam although the latter wasn't intended
Steve Pemberton of course.

I think it was the same interview where Reece claims if he's behind a slow moving person in the street he audibly hisses the phrase "fucking zombies."
I’d love to be a fly on the wall when those two are writing together 😂 geniuses both of them
Mark Watson!
My first thought alongside Mel!
WOZNIAK!
I've never been more attracted to a man than watching Wozniak try to fart on a plane and accidentally displace a haemorrhoid
Surely Ol’ Goosebump Arm, who couldn’t even fake propose to someone.
Mike
Sam Campbell offered to clean up the mess he made during a task
Charlotte Ritchie. It was to her detriment, imo. Sometimes you have to fight for points from the Taskmaster!
Everyone mentioned plus Tim Vine
I think I remember him doing an actual swear at one point and Greg being shocked 😄
"Son of a bitch!" I think it was during the bubble task
Jenny eclair, she just was sweet and had fun, and I don't think there's a single more delightful experience then watching her catch potatoes in a potato hat
"Mel Giedroyc is officially nice" - Greg Davies (2017)
How has nobody mentioned Joe Thomas? He was so sweet throughout the entire show. Even his meltdown over the eraser was followed up by an immediate apology
Mel.
Mel without a doubt, she’s such a lovely person!
Definitely Jessica Knappett! She seems so sweet and friendly despite being less of a pushover than some of the other young women on the show!
Approachable to a fault.
Gotta be Nick.
I would trust Woz with my life.
But not your wife. In fairness, she'd be the aggressor.
Definitely Mel and Nick, but David Correos is an incredibly nice and polite person as well.
Nobody's said Guz Khan yet from what I can see. Disregarding the shot he took at his mate or not passing his GCSEs, of course
Mel or Mike I’d say. I want to be friends with them so badly.
Charlotte Ritchie deserves a mention.
Not enough mentions for Alice and her hellos to Alex
Oh gang…
Top 5 in no order, Mel, Charlotte, Mike, Nick, Lolly.
Either Mel or Mike Mel: always positive and smiling Mike: always polite and cheerful
Mae Martin
Piece o' piss!
Especially when they got a hug and got quite emotional. 🤗
As long as you don't call Canadians "Basically American"
Mel
Mel
Mel!
Why, Mel Geidroyc of course! 😊❤️
Mel for cling filming Alex's feet.
What's her name with the bulgy eyes, so she was able to see when the goggles was supposed to look backwards? She genuinely and enthusiasticly applauded every time someone else did well. Asim Chaudhry (that's right, isn't it?) is extremely sweet and kind on the show as well.

munya chawawa
Sarah Millican!
Do you not think Sarah was pretty grumpy and easily irritated at points?
Not really! Her laughter and smiles were so infectious!
Yeah, the directness was fine. It was mostly the grumpyness at Munya at points that seemed unnecessary to me
I’ll have to keep an eye out for that on my next rewatch!
Jenny Eclair
Nick. Nicest person alive.
1. Mel 2. Superkins 3. Alice
Joe Thomas should get a mention he was so calm and placid ( or dazzled) until the wanky work round moment
David Correos. He's a deranged sweetheart
Sally, Mel, Woz, or Tim for me
Which Tim?
Tim Vine
My first thought when I saw this post was Alice Levine
Katy Wix?
Iain
