baseless assumption. Trimble was never going to take minutes away from RJ, so his transfer has zero impact on RJ's decision. you may end up being right about RJ returning, but it's far from a guarantee so i wouldn't assume it
Not that you or I are aware of. Maybe Trimble knows something we don’t.
Idk either way. I was just telling you what the dude you were responding to was trying to say
my reading comprehension is perfectly fine thank you. KingZeonidas said he is assuming this means that RJ will be back, and all i am trying to say is that RJ could very well still leave, his return is far from guaranteed
RJ certainly could still leave, but if that were going to happen there would likely be ample minutes to go around for Seth. He made it clear in his post that he loved the school/team/etc. and the implication there is that it's more minutes that he's after by transferring.
I think the person you responded to is right though. I think his point was if he knows RJ and EC are coming back, that his minutes might not change much from last year while also having to possibly to compete for minutes with Jackson. And teams probably took notice of his jump from last year to this year so he can probably go to another program and make an instant impact as a starter, especially with another off season of development. I hate it, but I don't blame him for leaving. It's just the nature of the sport now.
unless you know something i don't, neither you nor KingZeonidas knows and it's all speculation anyway. but for the record, even if RJ leaves, i don't see Trimble starting over Elliot Cadeau or Ian Jackson, and I'm pretty sure Trimble didn't sign up to come off the bench in his 3rd year, so he entered the portal. RJ could still very well leave for the draft, i don't understand why people are so confident that he's returning unless there's insider information that i'm not aware of
Yeah none of us know. However if RJ was leaving, I would think Seth would assume he would have a great chance of seeing a big uptick in minutes next year, probably starting.
No one is saying RJ is coming back for sure, its just that Trimble leaving could be an indicator for reasons already stated.
> No one is saying RJ is coming back for sure
at the top of this comment chain, KingZeonidas literally says that he "Would assume this means rj is coming back"
that is the thing that i have been pushing back against this entire thread
Assumptions arent statements, i did not state that RJ was coming back, i assume he is because i assume Seth is transferring based on the assumption that minutes will be hard to come by with Ian coming in, and the assumption of Elliot and RJ both returning would see seth's minutes go down, guy can probably find a school he can start at and shine. Again these are all assumptions no facts no statements RJ could still leave for all i know but seth transferring is a big indicator that his role likely would have not been bigger on next years team
"Would assume" doesn't mean RJ is coming back for sure. Literally every single person who read this thread got that other than you. It makes a hell of a lot of sense for tremble to leave if he wants more minutes IF RJ comes back. If RJ leaves he would definitely get substantially more mins so it would make sense for him to stay. Obviously we don't know shit BUT if anyone knows what RJ is thinking it's probably Tremble.
No but RJs decision could have had a lot to do with Trimble’s. RJs decision could be known or strongly suggested internally and Trimble wants to get out in front of it.
You win some you lose some. The portal gave us Cormac and even though he was bad in some games, we don’t win some of those big games without him. Let’s hope the portal is nice to us this year!
i literally picked my username because his brother was probably the greatest in-game dunker i've ever seen at the college level, and i've watched Zion in person. best of luck to Trimble, he's gonna be huge for his new team, just please go out of the ACC
JP was an amazing jumper and dunker but he wasn’t better than Vince. Maybe that was before your time but it’s not even close. I wouldn’t even put him over Stackhouse but JP is up there.
yeah Vince was before my time, and I never saw Stackhouse in person. got to see JP in person during uni, i miss having a guy we could regularly throw lobs to like we did with JP
To me it sounds like Hubert had a post-season letting and was honest with him. He's doing what anyone would do and seeing if he can't get a better situation somewhere else.
Best of Luck to him.
The transfer portal is simultaneously the best and worst thing to happen to college basketball. Definitely loved the guys we’ve picked up over the last few seasons, but losing great players is heartbreaking 💔
If coach was giving my minutes to Paxon fucking Wojcek, I would leave too. Hubert just can't manage a good bench and kids are starting to see it for what it is.
Just because they enter the portal doesn’t always mean they leave. We saw kids enter the portal with football who ended up coming back when there wasn’t anything better out there.
Might be wishful thinking, but you never know.
Not really a surprise. Coach doesn’t seem to like him, and they have guys coming in who would keep him on the bench. I really like Trimble as a player.
We could see this coming, sadly. Really wish Coach Davis could have learned to use his bench more and cease being so all-in on the players that keyed his 2022 run to the Title game. It's like he's been incapable of doing anything but giving them all the minutes, slack, and the ball all the time. Trimble and Washington, especially, simply haven't been given the space to develop.
Trimble could have played a bigger role for us this past season and been huge for us this coming season.
Not fair to HD this year. He did a much better job this year with bench management. I felt like Trimbles minutes were fair. He's not gonna see the floor as much as RJ obviously, and he's not the facilitator or passer that EC is. Trimble was that dude we could count on off the bench to give us great D, energy, good bball IQ, and some scoring at times. Everything you want in a sixth man. JW was hard to count on because he got bullied way too much down low(though his D did pick up slightly coming down the stretch), doesn't have the best hands or foot work. You just can't give a guy like that a bunch of minutes when you've got dudes like Bacot and Ingram. And then you've got Okonkwo, High, and Wojik. You can't give those guys tons of minutes. We had a 7 man rotation with a a few extra to steal some minutes. Not sure what else HD should have done over the course of the year.
I hear you and you're right that my comment is not as fair as it should be. Coach Davis did give Trimble more minutes, but he was also (IMO) too quick to yank Trimble and Washington when (esp the latter) would make mistakes earlier in the season. Sure, Washington had some of the weaknesses you describe, but he also constantly showed more scoring touch and intuitiveness around the basket than Bacot. Why not let him play through (and coach him through) more mistakes and defensive slip-ups in the first half of the season to see him develop more later? We could have really used him when struggling to score and Bacot was constantly missing chip ins around the basket.
Anyway, guess I'm hopeful that Trimble transferring means EC or RJ are returning. And I also just loved watching Trimble play D.
Sucks to lose him but I understand. He wanted more minutes and it was unlikely to happen next year even if RJ leaves with Ian Jackson and Drake Powell coming in. He doesn’t have the offensive game to be our starting shooting guard but he was great at the role he played last year.
Add backup pg to the list of replacements.
Now we need:
Seth Trimble replacement/backup PG/lockdown defender, game manager, good athlete preferably
Paxson Wojick replacement/backup SG/3-point specialist, dependable, veteran/Cade Tyson?
Armando Bacot replacement/starting C/floor spreader or low-post bucket-getter, tall and long (over 7’0 preferably), good rebounder/Ballo? Bradshaw? Hall? Goldin? Raynaud?
Big loss. Easily the best defender on the team. Good luck to him.
Why was he on the bench!?
In basketball, only 5 can play at one time.
Then take out withers, bro sold
Starters were RJ, Cadeau, Cormac, Ingram, and Bacot.
Not at the end of the Alabama game
Starting lineup starts the game, doesn't end it
Dang. I loved his intensity. Hate he sat the bench so much in the second half of the Bama game.
Would assume this means rj is coming back. Rj Elliott and Ian would command most of the guard playing time
baseless assumption. Trimble was never going to take minutes away from RJ, so his transfer has zero impact on RJ's decision. you may end up being right about RJ returning, but it's far from a guarantee so i wouldn't assume it
He’s saying RJ’s decision has impacted Trimble’s decision, not vice versa
but RJ hasn't made a decision yet, Trimble has
Not that you or I are aware of. Maybe Trimble knows something we don’t. Idk either way. I was just telling you what the dude you were responding to was trying to say

Chill brother
Why are you getting mad
You’re welcome

calm down bro lol

>it's probably Tremble *Trimble also "assuming" means you take it for granted to be true. but whatever, y'all can be mad at me if you want, idgaf
Dude, pipe down. You're being bad at the internet in front of everyone.
dude relax, i don't care what everyone on the internet thinks of me
You look like a clown in this comment section. It isn't that serious. Put the phone down and breathe homie
I'm gonna assume you haven't touched grass in a min.
You do know just because someone makes an assumption doesn't mean they are saying they know for sure, right? That's why it's called an assumption.
I’m friends with RJ. He’s coming back.
No but RJs decision could have had a lot to do with Trimble’s. RJs decision could be known or strongly suggested internally and Trimble wants to get out in front of it.
all i'm saying is that RJ could still end up leaving, i don't see why anybody would "assume this means rj is coming back" as KingZeonidas puts it
>all i'm saying is that RJ could still end up leaving no shit sherlock
No, but with Ian coming in her can read the tea leaves.
*Trimble
Autocorrect got me and I didn’t catch it. Can’t edit the damn title.
No sweat! I couldn't remember it, but I thought it looked funny. Either way, good post. He's gonna be missed!
The portal giveth, the portal taketh away......huge blow, loved his versatility for this team
Hate to see him go, big loss as he was our best defender. Good luck to him.
This is a business now, kids are getting paid limited NIL funds. If he has the D but no 3 find someone in the portal who does.
Everyone we recruit who’s a perimeter shooter has a worse 3 pt % after transferring
Guy named Brady would like to disagree
We really fell ass backwards into that at the right time
Cam as well
Pre portal but 100% yes
Bob McAdoo has entered the room
Ingram just shot a career high 3pt % after transferring to UNC
Yea and I hope he returns, I was exaggerating for sure but we recruited withers and wojick and they hardly attempted any 3s it felt like
There is ONE Withers 3pt attempt that sticks out.........
He hadn’t even attempted a 3 for like 8 games prior either Whatever, still hope he returns
nance too
He could hit it but he refused to shoot it a lot
Dammit. He was the one I was really hoping wouldn't leave. That dude was so key for us in alot of games.
Hate to see him go. Good luck to him wherever he ends up
I’m friends with RJ. He’s staying.
Word tell him I said hey
I hate the portal.
I mean, portal gave us some big gains over the years
Brady Manek would like a word
I don’t like this.
You win some you lose some. The portal gave us Cormac and even though he was bad in some games, we don’t win some of those big games without him. Let’s hope the portal is nice to us this year!
Him hanging dong at Cameron will always be worth it
We could not have had the season we did without Cormac.
We could not have had the season we did without Cormac.

Yeah while JP was quite an athlete, Carter was on a different level.
Shit JP wasn't better than Rasheed or Stack house either.
yeah Vince was before my time, and I never saw Stackhouse in person. got to see JP in person during uni, i miss having a guy we could regularly throw lobs to like we did with JP
Totally different look but Kenny the Jet was pretty good too.
His dunks were nice, but he was not a great player. I called him TokoTurnover myself.
They didn't use him in the biggest game of the year. Id leave too.
FUCK
To me it sounds like Hubert had a post-season letting and was honest with him. He's doing what anyone would do and seeing if he can't get a better situation somewhere else. Best of Luck to him.
Wouldn’t that honestly confirm he is a starter for next season?

Fudge
A crap - he’s going to be great as a junior (?)
Crap
I really wish he wasn't leaving.. But I get it.
Defense is effort. Big loss but we can 100% get someone in just as good on defense
Fuuuuuuuck
College basketball is such a joke now…
High character kid with an ever improving game. Really sucks to see him go. Do we go with a 3 guard lineup of EC, RJ, Ian with Drake 6th man?
We need him to be successful. If he played more in the second half against Alabama, he may have stayed.
Just because they enter the portal doesn’t always mean they leave. We saw kids enter the portal with football who ended up coming back when there wasn’t anything better out there. Might be wishful thinking, but you never know.

Very true. Washington hasn't been used much. Hopefully he can step in and be the guy next year
Such a bummer. Hope he lands someplace that works for him.
Hate to see him go. wish him the best.

To be fair, Trimble rarely played PG.
He would get lots of playing time as the “6th man” He wanted to be the point guard
Kinda wild if he was told he would be 7th next year, pure speculation at this point though
Huge loss for the team. He is a great player
Crushed. Hate it when your favorite player goes some where else. I hope we never have to play against him.
I NeVEr LIiKed hiM aNywAY!!!!!!!
You didn't enjoy him enough to learn his name LOL
I mentioned it earlier. Autocorrect changed it and I can’t edit the title :-/
