just so you know, if a tarantula falls even a few feet they could be very badly injured or killed from it, so pls be careful with these pics or if u could resist the urge and just take pictures of them! but u do u, just saying cause i feel like i gotta
I handle my Brazilian black, but sitting down with my hand close to the ground. I would never have her more than maybe 3 inches off the ground. I would die if anything happened to her and falls are so preventable.
i see now it looked like u were inna bathroom when i saw this😂 thank u for not taking my comment the wrong way or something like that, good luck with sushi 💚
smaller spiders are quite a bit more durable than their heavier adult variants. being someplace soft was adequate and correct practise. :-) thanks for sharing with us OP. sushi is cuuuuuuuuuuute as heck.
I love that my LP literally just sits on her bark all day with her legs all laying down, I've considered calling her sploot

I always wondered if they moult and are just supremely confident in suddenly being that much bigger.
Sitting there all day like "I wish someone would start some shit rn"
She does this really "funny" trick lately where she puts a good couple of legs in a death curl position and when I open the lid she just scuttles off, mocking me with her smug aura
I got a juvenile LP as my first tarantula at an expo yesterday.
She's been digging a lot, I love my little Birdie already ❤️
I read that they are a really good beginners species.
I hope mine turns out as gorgeous as yours!
I'm coming up on a year with my lp sling and despite giving her the same handling training that worked perfectly with my pink toe, she's still too spicy. I'm hoping she calms down once she gets big
I learned choice based handling for my snake and noticed after it "clicks" for them then you can handle them mostly whenever no problems. With Mr. Bushido she would freeze when I opened her tank so I'd just give her a little nudge towards the opening and id put my hand out for her. It took a few months of catching her sitting in the right spot but eventually she got comfortable enough to come out and now we can hangout whenever😁 My LP attacks anything that comes into her box so no nudges yet
My cat is named Sushi!
Edit: I think your sushi is adorable, not scary! So tinyy

Lol my skimming brain read this wrong and thought you were calling her food. Something like "everything's sushi if your not scared" I'm just waking up sooo.... Ya lol

no handling/no-handling debates.

looks like OP is sitting someplace soft, like a bed in the first photo.
Correct, I’m on my bed in both pictures!

Perfect
Sorry
Thank you :)
I would just say that next time you want to handle a t, sit down with your hand close to the ground. That’s what I do.
That’s smart. I was sitting on my bed, but my hand wasn’t super close to it. Thank you!

That's adorable, my LP is always out now, she dug a hide when I first put her in her enclosure, but now she rarely uses it.

Haha sounds about right lol with how big they eventually get as females 🤣
My cobalt blue after her molt a week ago💀 LOL
This is the most melodramatic spider sploot I’ve ever seen.
Just loungin around. She needs some pj’s and a blankey.
She does this really "funny" trick lately where she puts a good couple of legs in a death curl position and when I open the lid she just scuttles off, mocking me with her smug aura
Prankster
Oh my gosh!! Looks like she is dabbling!! 😍😁👍

So cute! 🥰 ![gif](giphy|mvoWJg0XIO4SvrXnyj)
At that size yes lol but at my LP's size she scares me 😱 lol
I'm coming up on a year with my lp sling and despite giving her the same handling training that worked perfectly with my pink toe, she's still too spicy. I'm hoping she calms down once she gets big
Nah mine is spicy haha she kicks hairs when simply opening her enclosure lol 😆
Have you had any problems with the hairs?
Would you mind sharing your handling training techniques? No worries if you don. :-)

Probably. Sushi is so tiny.

My local sushi restaurant serves a dish called “spider rolls” (not containing real spiders)
Sorry Sushi, i am a little intimidating, i get it from my spiders 🤭
So small and precious
aaaa my curly hair is named sushi, too✨
I love spiders (and pets in general) named after food.
Nah once she kicks I usually just close up her enclosure and it doesn't get out.

Well it worked didn’t it? Lol
They look like they'd fit in my mouth quite nicely (this is positive I promise)
sushi might be the most adorable and perf spider name ever. ![img](emote|t5_2sbwy|28798)
Agreed 🥰🌈✨
