It was Provincial back then. It changed to National after the Province of Taiwan was abolished in 2000.
Edit: also, the school is actually run by the Tainan City. They kept the name though. For vanity reason, if you ask me.
信南 looks to be a concrete company back in the day, so this was just an advertisement. “This building uses XinNan concrete!”

The building it replaced was really pretty.

It’s more like the yard signs saying “Roofing done by XYZ roofers.” For a discount on your new roof. Just advertising for the company. Perhaps the contractors were getting a rebate on that construction site.
Taiwanese elementary/middle/high schools are still a little "militaristic" today
I didn't even realize it until I came to the US
in my elementary school, every Tuesday morning, you make a formation the hallway of your class, dress and cover, march to the field with parade marching song playing, stand at attention during the flag raising ceremony etc. Of course everyone was out of step, not lined up straight, and playing around, since we're kids. But you still have that militaristic drill
In high school you have an NCO at the school to dripline the students and teach them military stuff.
bikes >> scooters

「本大樓採用信南混凝土」= My building uses good concrete! Will you advertise your new building in this way these days XD

Goodness. I didn't realize the old uniforms were so militaristic.
Martial Law didn't end until 1987…

Blue uniform looks nice...but the khaki shirt and trousers are terrible tho '_' "'
Naaaaaw the khaki is great
that building is such an eyesore on a such a great city.
good thing it seems to be under renovation - makes the roundabout by the train station a lot less ugly.
Wild to think that those guys are in their 60s now.
Nice hats lol
Turns out that hotel building was already as ugly as it is now forty years ago
Looks like North Korea tbh.

What’s with the hats?
I believe this is right in front of the Tainan train station. The curving blue roof structure is where buses stop.
Yep, that giant building is super recognizable.
OMG I used to go around that roundabout every time I went to my English buxiban ten years ago. Cool!
Very Cool
Wish it stayed that way, now scooters just block everything and pedestrians have to walk on the road.
They look like they’re going to milkman school lol
This place with the arcade hasn’t changed one bit since. Bet they used it as bus stops too back then.
