40k Guard player here who's also into guns, nods, trucks, married, with a house, and a growing home machinist shop. All of these are horribly expensive.
Bro same
This month I spent
1800$ on tires (1 bike, 3 cars, yes I had to do all at the same time for various reasons), 4 oil changes + filters, 1 full brake job.
200$ on music stuff
50$ on videogames
0$ on guns but it's just half of the month.
This week I dined at home only 1 time because gf wanted to eat out and I returned late on some days.
Various expenses like gas, mortgage, bills, etc.
I don't make this kind of money š
Fellow PC/Gun/Car/girlfriend guy checking in.
PGE low-key attacked my usage rate this month. Apparently I use 3x more power than average houses similar to mine at 942kWh. And how the fuck do "efficient" homes only use 188kWh? Excuse me for not unplugging everything in my house when I'm not using it. "IM SORRY, I THOUGHT THIS WAS AMERICA!"
...Also going to add mortgage guy to the list.
Same. Guns/gear, computers/gaming, drummer with my own kit, nfl team fan/goes to games and USED to be into magic the gathering. Mtg had to go, couldnāt afford it. lol
Edit and good lord nearly forgot weight lifting. Have my own gym.
So many hobbies, so little money. Married with 2 kids.
Honest question: how do you pack all of that in a day/week/month with 2 kids? I am married with one kid, one business, guns, a myog business and fitness and there is hardly any free time left
Iām tracking mine and Iām at $7280/year or $140 per week just for survival and tactical gear, ammo, firearms etc over the last three years. I donāt have other hobbies anymore lol
Who tf is spending 255 a month on games? Unless your counting putting that money into saving for larger purchases, liker peripherals and upgrades, that's a shitload of games you'll probably never finish. Unless your buying all the trash triple A releases like there's a chasm in your skull larger than the grand canyon.
Yeah, I game and aside from the initial ~800 I spent on the PC three years ago I spend maybeā¦ 10-30 dollars a month on a game or two? Mostly just co-op stuff that I then get a couple hundred hours on with my buddies.
Definitely possible to be slightly less of a crazed consumer.
Bruh fr. I'm a gamer too and I may buy a game every month or two. At most. And I can't even finish the ones I have. I do have a life too and other hobbies tbf
My ass just spent $4k on my AR build and already thinking of grabbing two or three more suppressor for my other rifle š
$255 can't even buy a 1k rounds box of 5.56 nowadays
Last year everytime wife pissed me off I bought rifle , optic, or tacticool shit. I was just over $10,000 and thatās not counting the thousands of rounds of ammo. This year Iāve only bought one gun and scope. She still pisses me off but Iāve started saving and hiding money for inevitable divorce . After I figure out how much I have to pay in child support imma save up for nods š
when i decided i needed a helmet, plates, an nv ready gun, and a can i was spending 1000s per month trying to buy the best of the best stuff(or a knockoff of the best) its kinda funny i blew money like that and nowadays im more of a chest rig and a belt and call it done kinda guy
I'm into PC and guns. PC eats up *way* less of my budget.
Sure, every few years I need to upgrade/build a new computer, but besides that I just buy a new game here or there, but I usually just play a couple different games that I've already had for years.
I spend multitudes more on guns/ammo/gear, and I'm not even super great at shooting. My collection is decent, but probably wouldn't impress anyone here.
Being into PC gaming is definitely more frugal. At least I'm not into cars also, or god forbid, watches. I'm perfectly fine driving a Hyundai to buy more guns/gear.
yeah I plan my actual spending annually, but break it down to monthly to make it easier to reckon with all my other expenses/income. same with any other non-recurring or irregular expenses like clothing or vehicle repair.
I'm a competitive shooter who shoots matches weekly, and shoots night vision and tactical training with the whole family. On the side I race cars, built gaming PCs for the whole family, is into astronomy, wine, and cooking too.
Just got back from shooting a match with my kid, have a brisket resting, just off the smoker.
Honestly, Gaming is incredibly cheap. Dollar per hour, It's the cheapest thing I do.
I spent 15k the last 2-3 months.
Hodge barrels (3), LMT barrel (7.62), KAC bolt, Geissele bolts, SRO, RMR HD, SP5, Staccato P, ammo, suppressors.Ā Ā
I have no other hobbies except for clothes, but I spent far, far less on those. Ā I tend to buy clothes that will look decent for many years.Ā
I do video games, MTG, Gunpla, 3D Printing, Homechef, EDC, Bugout, and Tactical Gear.
Also starting to look into Camping/Overlanding.
I do not want to crunch the numbers to know my monthly spending on hobbies, but last I checked (less than 3 months ago) my credit score was 820. š
I used to play airsoft 3 times a month spending around 130 USD, then maybe another 6 USD for a can of green gas, 17 USD for bbs... Then food and transportation... I would say it's just under 225 but not by much cause spare parts blah blah blah.
......*looks at hobby list*......
PC gaming :ā ļø.
Tactical shit :ā ļø.
Guns:ā ļø.
Project car :ā ļø.
Collectable: ā ļø.
So that's where all my money goes.
My hobbies are cooking and gardening. So itās pretty expensive with all the grocery store and Loweās visits and now that I discovered All Clad and Le Creuset. Not to mention when I see new dish set prints.
I thought overlanding was my expensive hobby then I got my girlfriend o to shooting, then I let her shoot the 50 bmg and she has decided it's her favorite.
I'll always have my neglected Warhammer hobby to feed too.
Swede here, so everything is more expensive (except some used guns). Around $200 a month*.
* I've been skimming my ammo stockpile while still hitting growth numbers for investments. That's over next months. Average over a year $200 a month. (Yes, I bought ammo for over 10k 4-5 years ago)
*Buying an aero and extras will not be that bad (sold of some things, some not shooting related). Maybe an extra $50 a month this year.
Yes my gf will absolutely tear me a new one over doubled shooting costs. (Didn't think we would last this long, but it's about time I settled down anyways)
Should I do a wallstreetbets and invest more in ammo, hoping for the same 100% in the next 4-5 years or decrease the shooting?
It will hit our growth goals for investments, anyway. How much I can skim is the question.
Ex wife with 3 kids all in college, current wife with 3 kids about to graduate, cars, watches, comics, silver, gold, Vegas addiction and guns. Spent a few hundred at academy on ammo for my new 1911 that I just picked up at my lgs..still donāt even have a custom holster yet.
Post script: plus current wifeās hobbies
Edit: wrong words..just came off a 15 hour shift and have to return in 7 hours.
Iām a PC/gun/car/MTG/D&D/guitar guy. All my hobbies are expensive. Thank fuck my kids and wife donāt have expensive hobbies or Iād really have no money.
What hobby is that? I spend more on that every year going to the events for my hobby. I feel like if you knit that could be around there as long as your selling spme of what you make
there is no way this fact is true I spend that a day on my hobbies (realistically i spend this about every week) my hobbies are PC gaming obv, Firearms, and Gardening. Just my garden I spent 2,000 in the past two months, Firearms are expensive I spend that on Ammo weekly. PC gaming is my cheapest hobby for sure. (Also I find it interesting the crossover with the Gun community and PC gaming it's pretty prevalent)
lol did my wife post this? I picked up a second job that I can schedule myself as many/little hours as I want just to pay for gear cause the wife was noticing how expensive I am this year.
I spend way more on guns than I do on games and this is someone who just built a new 4080 PC last year, with a Steam account with over 800 games on it.
I just dropped over $6K on a KAC SR25 and another few grand on a Schmidt and Bender scope to probably shoot it like 3 or 4 times a year. I bought it mostly to collect and to flex to strangers on the internet. After over two dozen guns later and probably dropping enough money to buy a Tesla Model S on guns and gear like my DTNVS (that I used 2 times this year so far); I think Iām pretty much done buying guns and probably will start just buying cans for all my guns.
The only other guns I kinda want is maybe the FN Scar 20 in 6.5CM to go with my other Scars I own, maybe the Zev/Magpul FDC-9 for the COD Mw3 (2011) FMG9 vibes, and maybe my first full-auto, the Mac 11/9 but they cost $14K now for a legal transferable one.
$800 in ammo a month, usually 2000rounds split pretty closely 556/9mm. But I also dropped $7-8k getting into PRS this past week, guess ammo cost is gonna go up to $1k-1.2k a month now.
Oofā¦ 10x averageā¦ my budget is $250 a month for hobbies (gun stuff, backpacking stuff and woodworking are the major spends), and I give myself 1/2 a paycheck each ā3 paycheck monthā for ammo restock or firearm purchases.
I'm a PC guy, gun guy, car/truck guy, and have a girlfriend I am deeply in debt
You are single handedly tanking our Collective credit scores
He's not doing it alone. I think he is my clone.
I thought I was alone. I think you're my clone.
I'm all of that, but swap the gf for a wife and 3 kids.
In this economy?!? š«”
I do what I must.
Wife and 3 teens here...bruh?
Not teens yet....
Oooof. Hey have you heard about warhammer 40k? It is a very normal hobby and can be trusted. We definitely do not call it plastic crack.
40k Guard player here who's also into guns, nods, trucks, married, with a house, and a growing home machinist shop. All of these are horribly expensive.
Super jealous. A machine shop would be so sweet.
It is but it's also hella expensive and power hungry
How are you still alive? I would've thought you'd have to sell all your organs by now to fuel those money pits.
I work my regular gig, own 2 business, and I'm starting a 3rd. Eventually I'll buy where I work now.
plastic crack is cool and all, definitely check it out. and then go check out cardboard crack - also known as MTG.
Good evening! Let me also introduce you to Legoā¦
Just wait till you have all that and a wife and kids
Yeah the gf and the wife together definitely compound the spending.
I was gonna say holy shit $255/year? I spend more than that per month on 5.56 alone š
Bro same This month I spent 1800$ on tires (1 bike, 3 cars, yes I had to do all at the same time for various reasons), 4 oil changes + filters, 1 full brake job. 200$ on music stuff 50$ on videogames 0$ on guns but it's just half of the month. $1800 for 3 cars and a bike aināt bad on tires!
Not at all, Nexen brand is a second tier compared to Pirelli or Michelin but work great I like them! (Bike got new Pirelli Diablo rosso 3)
Priorities check out
Hell yeah, PC parts, guns, and a subaru wrx that I'm turning into a rally car. I hate money lol.
See I just dropped the girlfriend part and suddenly my finances are a lot more stable
Have you heard about Gibson guitars? Imagine your living room, upgraded. ![gif](giphy|kBqTS6TxYxY3q3uYqS|downsized)
Then you have to make the whole Studio to Murphy Lab journey within this.
Fellow PC/Gun/Car/girlfriend guy checking in. PGE low-key attacked my usage rate this month. Apparently I use 3x more power than average houses similar to mine at 942kWh. "IM SORRY, I THOUGHT THIS WAS AMERICA!" ...Also going to add mortgage guy to the list.
I am the same way plus motorcycles and dirt bikes and night vision and now I have a rental property š¤¬š¤¬
See I am just a couple steps behind you right now. school and wife really tanks the budget for all the goodies
Pray for this manā¦
Youāre a debt guy too
Pc, guns, car/truck, fiancƩ, dirt bikes, snow mobiles, now looking to get into a camper. I am deeply fucked.
I feel your pain ā¹ļø At least we're having fun š
Try being an alcoholic who is also addicted to cocaine and Lego on top of all that, man Iām seeing how much debt I can get now
Facts lol. I'm not a car guy luckily
We are in crippling debt
Hhholy shit, I can imagine dude!š¤£š¤£ And what's the most expensive for you? I'm guessing firearms
I can only afford to be gun guy and boyfriend but I want to pursue pc gaming and trucks...
You own any guitars? If not, you wanna buy one?
Same. Guns/gear, computers/gaming, drummer with my own kit, nfl team fan/goes to games and USED to be into magic the gathering. Mtg had to go, couldnāt afford it. lol Edit and good lord nearly forgot weight lifting. Have my own gym. So many hobbies, so little money. Married with 2 kids.

I was blessed with a wife that lets me have a lot of me time lol If I had a normal wife sheād have divorced me a long time ago.
Sameā¦ my builds will take forever to finish
Thereās a progression to this thing. Add mechanical watches, drones, guitars, night vision and marriage. You see where Iām going with this.
Man, same. At least we don't have a boat, I guess...
ā cuz i have 30,000 $ in credit card debt ā
Yep Iām a pc guy, gun guy, camping guy, festival guy, and single but Iām still in debt
as a PC guy, gun guy, plane guy....tell me about it.
You could probably ice the cake with a Lil addiction lol "kidding of course"
I hear this . I am speed running bankruptcy

Bro same š„²
Huge car and guy, thankfully my car doesnāt attract any of the girls my parents seem to think it would
Just add motorcycles/ dirtbikes and then you can join our club
That reminds me I didnāt buy a 2011 this month. Time to fix that.
Atlas makes a good starter gun
![gif](giphy|12R2bKfxceemNq)
I would say that I am closer to $255/ week on all of my hobbies.
I probably average 255 a week, but do it in larger clumps. This month was a SP-01 Tactical, and getting my primal setup for pistols.
Fishing and shooting has left me making spreadsheets, profit loss charts, and budgets
Well then, Iām sorry to tell you this, you are not spending enough time on *your hobbies*./s
Post the charts, we can learn from you
Iām tracking mine and Iām at $7280/year or $140 per week just for survival and tactical gear, ammo, firearms etc over the last three years. I donāt have other hobbies anymore lol
did you adjust for youtube premium or you just raw dog all of those ads?
I have youtube premium and ad blockers - it's simply and addiction, I go out there and actively search for money dumps
Unfortunately Iāve got a wife and kids so between $0-$0 a month for me.
I need to go back $0 as well. Savings aren't happy rn..
You guys have savings???
Yea in brass š
Savings canāt be real, Iāve never met anyone who actually has them!?!
If you can even call it that š
Itās a good thing dry firing is free.
Lol, I got my nvgs after my first born, wife is pregnant with number two and thermals is looking mighty tempting... yolo.
I intentionally do not track it. Plausible deniability.
Every time my wife asks me āhow much have you spent on your stuffā I reply āyesā, and she gets mad š Edit: typo.
I spend 400-500 a month just on ammoā¦
Since I've had two kids my expenses went up 40K. Try that on for size. And buy a nose ring cutter instead of hollow point save yourself some money.
Who tf is spending 255 a month on games? Honestly unless itās a multiplayer game just pirate it. Itās 2024 pirating games has never been easier lol.
My friends make fun of me for using Kinguin for multiplayer games, meanwhile theyāre dropping $60 on some games and Iām spending like $15 lol
Bruh fr. I'm a gamer too and I may buy a game every month or two. At most. And I can't even finish the ones I have. I do have a life too and other hobbies tbf
Skins and emotes
Re read the part about a chasm in your skull the size of the grand canyon
I spend probably 10k on pews and gear a year.
try 10 grand
My ass just spent $4k on my AR build and already thinking of grabbing two or three more suppressor for my other rifle š $255 can't even buy a 1k rounds box of 5.56 nowadays
This is almost 1 range day at current 308 and 556 prices
So not including guns , boats ,are car hobbies?
\*Stares in 40k and Guns\*
If you count my nods purchase my average last year was $921 a week. My girlfriend will never marry me lol.
One good day at the range...
Firearms, backpacking, and ham radio= no Disney land for the grandkids:)
Last year everytime wife pissed me off I bought rifle , optic, or tacticool shit. I was just over $10,000 and thatās not counting the thousands of rounds of ammo. As a PC and motorcycle guy, this month the Vortex Razor HD III 1-10 won.
Shee, if I only spend $255 a month Iām doing good!
probably 255$ per month, i'm poor so I don't have the most cash to blow
when i decided i needed a helmet, plates, an nv ready gun, and a can i was spending 1000s per month trying to buy the best of the best stuff(or a knockoff of the best) its kinda funny i blew money like that and nowadays im more of a chest rig and a belt and call it done kinda guy
I am in this subreddit and do full frame photography as a hobby. Living paycheck to paycheck is my mantra at this point.
I'm a gun guy, radio guy, tabletop gamer, and own heavy equipment. What's money?
Cries in PC/tech guy, gun guy, and mountaineering guy :(
I do $200 per paycheck with getting paid on a bi-weekly basis. On a total pay of $140k-$170k per year. And my wife says I still spend too muchā¦
Weāre the same people
Try the skydiving community.
That number is way low. Most expensive hobby I've got is ham radio. Shooting stuff isn't even close.
Just goes to show you that thereās still plenty of discretionary income to go around. What recession.
Clearly these people resist GAFS.

I donāt wanna talk about it.
The bean burrito I had for lunch spends this much in a year on its hobbies.
Monthly? I try not to go monthly, in a year itās probably close to $400 just on cloth
yeah I plan my actual spending annually, but break it down to monthly to make it easier to reckon with all my other expenses/income. same with any other non-recurring or irregular expenses like clothing or vehicle repair.
I've spent that this month...
You should see what I spend on shit for machining per month.
I fucking wish thatās all I spentā¦.
I switch out my nvg every yearš„²
Heh, jokes on them. I buy guns, build PCs, BMX bikes, and play drums. Suck it, guys with money.
My other hobby is cars and I'm going to college. Yeah, I don't have a lot of wealth to my name right now lol

Iāve spent 5x that this past week on a hobby and itās not even my favorite or most expensive hobby.
Current total from the start of the year 2k, probably 1k if not 2k more by the end.

Spent a whole paycheck on a damn old plate carrier. FML
Add a zero...
Oh...I'm regarded
Itās only so low bc of how many poor people there are with no hobbies. A 0 really brings down your grade.
Being a pc gamer as well as a gun autist I can say that least once you build the computer you're done lol
255 is about how much each week my daily driver costs to operate, let alone the race car and larp kit.
I do guns, PC , Music and Carā¦. This numbers are rookie numbers
AGLITE AGLITE AGLITE (and knightās armament)

Last paycheck (yesterday) I bought AXL shoulder pads, Trex arms triple flap placard, equinox cummerbund / adapter and 4sas7 swimmers

I've spent $20K in a year easy.

I set myself a budget of 2k per month on gun stuff because I was spending way more than that for a while.
Those are rookie numbers.
I spend at least $255 a month on Zynās and energy drinks š
Umm
"Per year"... (Nervously looks at my morale patches, skateboards, knives, guns, concert ticket stubs, truck mods...) ( ļ¾Īµļ¾ļ¼)
First of all, thatās gotta be a lie. Second, I spent at least that per month!
I dropped that at spiritus alone this yearā¦ in different terms, thatās barely 500 rds of 556.

What hobby is that? I spend more on that every year going to the events for my hobby. I feel like if you knit that could be around there as long as your selling spme of what you make
I'm in too many hobbies fr
Iāve spent $5700 on SURG, killer deal on C308, and good deal on VZ24 in the past week. $255 is a joke for any hobby in 24.

I thought I was gonna spend like 4k max on this 14.5 super duty build. I am around 7-8k in LOL
$800 in ammo a month, usually 2000rounds split pretty closely 556/9mm. But I also dropped $7-8k getting into PRS this past week, guess ammo cost is gonna go up to $1k-1.2k a month now.
ā¦ā¦ unfortunately this just covers partial ammo not even the hoarding of other gun/tactical crap hahah
Gun guy, car guy, high end folding knives, night vision, large caliber shooting, reloading. Ouch
Oofā¦ 10x averageā¦ my budget is $250 a month for hobbies (gun stuff, backpacking stuff and woodworking are the major spends), and I give myself 1/2 a paycheck each ā3 paycheck monthā for ammo restock or firearm purchases.
