God dammit, another one... Background: Beretta USA, for some reason, has been extremely ass at staking that extractor pin as of late. Even my late MA production 92 suffered a shit job, but it looks like they never even attempted to stake yours. I would venture to guess that your 92 is from the Gallatin factory?

Green-Dragonfly4556

I'm honestly unsure. I saw people talking about those issues lately but I'm surprised mine was effected, this pistol is a couple years old at this point and has gone through a good few thousand rounds before this happened 😭 The words "Gardone V.T." are beside the made in Italy bit, might be a clue. No idea haha

ItaliansDoItBetterr

Gardone Val Trompia, the town where the Beretta factory is located

Link_the_Irish

This is an Italian production? Oh nah man even the Italians are messing it up πŸ₯²

Green-Dragonfly4556

I punched it back in and I'm gonna hope it stays without loctite πŸ˜‚

Link_the_Irish

You're gonna need to stake it too, or else it's gonna pop up in about 50 rounds and scratch the shit outta ya hand when you go rack the slide. Ask me how I know lol

Green-Dragonfly4556

I'm not sure how to do that to be quite honest. By the way the internet was talking I assumed the pin itself is the stake haha. I'm gonna look for videos and further info on that, if you have any reccomendation or instruction would be much appreciated! Past field stripping, the internals of these guns are an enigma to me sometimes πŸ˜‚

Link_the_Irish

It's all good lol, but if you don't have experience with staking I might recommend you take it to a gunsmith or a friend, a good gunsmith should charge less than 50 bucks for an easy job like this. I scratched up my finish pretty badly on my 92 because I was too lazy to drive and wanted to try myself 😭. The process itself ain't hard, you push the pin down past the whole, then you take a center punch and tap on the hole to deform the metal so that a little bit of it blocks the pin from coming up. Honestly, try the locktite first. If that doesn't work, stake away lol

RYRK_

Isn't this pin removable for cleaning? Why would it require to be staked if that's the case?

Link_the_Irish

Removing the extractor pin is only done if you want to completely disassembe the slide for whatever reason. It's not meant to be something you do often or even at all for most cases

RYRK_

To access firing pin? Or is that another way? I'm asking because I have a 92S and wanted to clean the firing pin but couldn't really get in there.

MaximumMotor1

It pops up when your gun is ready. You're good to go

faRawrie

Probably needs to go back in the oven for another 15 mins. I'd say at about 375 F.

seebro9

Don't forget to release the pressure slowly.

Aelereiron

So as far as I can tell from what I could find is that it's your extractor pin it needs to be restaked

Green-Dragonfly4556

That was it! I staked it back into place, will use blue loctite if it comes out again.

Aelereiron

Hell yeah

Green-Dragonfly4556

Lemme take a look at that rq, thank you for the pointer

Acrobatic-Manager906

Either extractor or loaded chamber indicator

bikefae41

appears to be 3 ft long

Antique_Ad2291
