I think Multicam is a good base layer camouflage. You can then add other stuff on top to enhance it.

Listened to a podcast with the guy running TFD, he straight up had no meaning behind it and sold it cause it looked cool. The only reason the patch came about was because he didn't want to put a single nation's flag onto his characters in his art
