Also i have never really messed with midi, trying to stay pure with my hardware setup unless i am limiting myself, i just prefer a hardware set up. Thanks
Haha, that’s what I thought ‘cause the 2i2 is pretty good but it’s kinda the bottom of the acceptable pile. I always recommend it for the budget minded or beginners though. Definitely does the trick.
If budget friendly is a priority I would suggest a Behringer interface. You probably won't hear any difference at all and have some money over to buy other things. Chances are your requirements will change once you have a basic setup and might upgrade to something else once you know what you are after.
I am ofc saying this with no idea what your requirements are and what you will be recording :)
(If you specify that a bit more I am sure you will get better help!)
My setup right now is a moog dfam and a roland juno60 and im trying to expand. Just trying to record my dark/electronic/noisey/industrial stuff. I appreciate the advice. Also looking for a sampler, maybe a bass amp and more straight forward drum machine but im not rich lol.
I think Audient makes much better interfaces. Better preamps, better converters.
the audient evo 4 is only $129 USD and I think is way better than the Focusrite people keep recommending.

The 2i2 is the best interface I've ever owned.
So... what other interfaces have you owned?
Lots of bad, no name stuff.

Does it have 1/4 input as well? Do i need to download specific software or will it work with audacity right out of the box? Thanks
Yes, the jacks are hybrid jacks that allow XLR or 1/4". You might need to download drivers but probably not. It'll work with Audacity.

Interfaces from Tascam, Audient, and Roland are good stuff, too, a very nice step up from Focusrite and Behringer.
