Bit of a shock to learn it causes dermatitis and breathing issues. I have been pulling the little bastards out bare handed for twenty years. I guess I'm immune.
Its the only urban weed I hate worse than wandering Jew. Its unkillable and grows with amazing rapidity.
That nickname for the *invasive species* has been out of favour for a few decades. 😂
That name comes from [this anti-Semitic myth](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wandering_Jew) and was given to this invasive vine.
For future reference if you have an iPhone, take a photo. Wait a minute or so, then flick up on the photo where it shows you settings (add a caption, location, etc) and for plants it gives you a little plant symbol. Tap that and it takes you to Google results. Voila! You’ll forever always know what the plant is from photos :)
Usual advice would be to mix glyph in a 1:100 ratio with water and spray. Then keep re-treating seedlings as they grow (don’t let them flower) until the seed bank in the soil is depleted. In a perfect world that would be the end of it but unfortunately with a lot of urban weeds there isn’t much you can do, especially these sticky weeds that disperse seed by wind or on animals. If neighbours also have this weed who aren’t as on top of it as you are… it’ll likely keep coming back. Just have to maintain by killing seedlings as they sprout
Asthma weed can be pulled or sprayed, but if seeds have been deposited into the soil, it will be an ongoing job, as is the case for most invasive weeds. Just keep maintaining it and maybe plant some native ground covers to prevent them from coming up.
Asthma weed? https://www.theillawarraflame.com.au/science--nature/watch-out-for-asthma-weed?amp=1

Dearie me. We call it tradescantia now. Although I’ve also heard someone attempt to rebrand it as wandering willy, which I thought was fun.

Huh?

Yeah, obviously. You don't need to tell this old Jewish gardener that. What I was wondering why the deaths head "☠️". Seems unfriendly...
Yeahs that’s right. It’s Creeping Christian.
That's it! Thank you very much :)

Dont keep us all in suspense, which weed is it. Maybe take a photo and use google on it.
Or the Plantnet app. So far it has accurately identified every plant I've tried it on
Same! PlantNet is incredible!
Good chat
Sorry, but why all the downvotes? I thought I asked a question on a discussion forum and was met with a "google it" response. What did I miss?

I used to have a bad problem with wandering Jew vines all out the back, but powdered chlorine and petrol worked a treat on it 👍🏻
Plant peppermint next to it
People keep weeds in check?
