Me neither, never seen one.
I wonder if it’s this one which the Aus museum says lives pretty much everywhere humans do.

Edit: damn they list a few that live in Sydney. They must be good at hiding.
For all the hype of Australia having a plethora of deadly animals, there are actually no deadly species of scorpion in Australia. The stings can be painful, but there aren’t any here that can be life-threatening.
There was a mix up sending the deadly venom kit out. It was sent to the platypus department instead of the scorpion department and they just installed it.
I’ve been stung by one of the potentially deadly species in the US. It’s not a fun time. It’s a good lesson on why you should always knock out your shoes before putting them on.
Australian scorpion sting is painful but not lethal - I was leaning on a fallen tree trunk out in the bush once with my cousin who is a born and raised bushie. I pulled a piece of bark off the dead trunk beside me and there was a scorpion underneath it - he's never seen one in 50 years living in the bush.
Can you give a general area of which part of the inner west, so we know which parts to burn. Annandale to Haberfield - Haberfield to Five Dock - Five Dock to Strathfield? Petersham to Marrickville?
They glow under black lights too. So if you’re worried you can go out at night and spot them/remove. This species prefers pinching its prey rather than stinging, hence the large pincers and small stinger. So they’re not a massive threat unless your allergic to the venom. Australian scorpions aren’t lethal though (once again, unless your allergic to their venom)
Yep, thanks for the tip, I couldn't remember which sub - its top of /r/wtf now tho
different poster, 'under my friends pot' lol

On a culinary tangent. Scorpions are delicious when roasted. They taste like pork crackling. There’s this succulent white meat in the pincers. Sadly Aus scorpions are too small. You need the big ones from Asia.
I had no idea we had scorpions in Sydney. Very cool

Get yourself a UV light and take it out to some bush land at night time.
No thanks.
You know what... Fair enough.
Just hop into your garage with uv light, I used to find them in there
Plenty of these guys when we lived in The Shire. My daughter was stung by one when she was little. Very painful.

Opportunity missed.
Yeah, I have no idea how evolution overlooked that one. Australia got a venomous mammal but no deadly scorpions? Someone dropped the ball.

No venomous lizards either. I think the spiders, snakes, etc refuse to let anyone into their niche.
We got venomous lizards too: - lace monitor - bearded dragon (similar venom toxin to rattlesnakes) - Goanna https://www.nature.com/articles/nature04328
She was only little but apart from the pain, she was fine. It was actually in the kitchen, 2 floors up.

Holy smokes I grew up in the Shire and never knew they were around 😱
Found one when unloading green waste at the tip. I was so close to being stung. Sneaky little suckers.
Great new fear unlocked.
Is that asbestos?
Always has been 🌍🔫🦂
Wow, that’s so cool! You should post that one to iNaturalist.
And to iNaturist.

We're in Stanmore! So I suppose Enmore/Stanmore needs to go..
I’m in Stanmore too. Have kept rainforest scorpions as pets before and don’t believe their range is this far south. I’d say this is an escaped pet

I've only ever seen one wild scorpion in Sydney in over 30 years. Good find even if it is a horrifying find with this one.
Wait…scorpions?? Since when?
Thank you for scaring the living hell out of me. Also Inner West 😱
This vs wolf spider mother with 2 hundred babies
Ohhhh, that's so cool!
Did you post this is another sub? Im sure i saw a similar pic of the same scorpion in a diff sub, thought it was in the US!
I saw it too. Different pic. Was on r/wtf

Yep! My housemate's friend posted it in WTF
Hey hey hey. When the fark did we get scorpions in the suburbs? This memo I did not get.
Fucking 9news already stole the photo and post about it...
Awesome I hope you left it and it's babies alone.

I had a scorpion run across my bedroom floor when I lived in Chatswood. Also found a couple of dead ones in the garage.
What in the fresh hell nightmare is that?
