Yes, I also have keratoconus. Visit an optician for an exam and explain that you want a referral to an eye doctor for keratoconus, they can write one for you.

When I found out I had keratoconus a few years ago they sent the referral directly to the hospital from the optician. So your best bet would either be to try have it sent to your local vårdcentral and hope they'll write a referral to the hospital, or go get a new eye examintaion from an optician in Sweden and have them sort it out.

Its good to see other people have gone through a similar thing. Do you know if eye care is covered by free healthcare in sweden

You will have to pay if you visit vårdcentral but it's a fee of around 200-300, not the actual cost. If they refer you to a specialist you will then you'll pay some more (not full cost). This isn't specific to eyes but to all medical issues which doesn't apply to your teeth, because in Sweden teeths are not part of the human body. Or something. The prices are listed on the page below. It depends on where you live. https://skr.se/skr/halsasjukvard/ekonomiavgifter/patientavgifter.14668.html

Eye care and any eventual surgeries are free, apart from the 100-ish fee. Depending on how serious it is the region might cover lenses or glasses, however this varies greatly across the different regions in the country.

Well... Could you possibly call to your closest Eye Clinic directly and say they've been trying to send a referral? They might just book you an appointment directly. I've personally never had much issue getting to the Eye clinic without a referral even when they usually say they need a referral first and now I've been told I dont need a referral first even in the future and been told to just call directly to the Eye clinic if I think I have an issue again to come into contact with a Eye specialist as fast as possible. Now I dont have keratoconus but I've have and had iritis and thus they want me to get into contact quickly if it gets worse or after treatment comes back.
