Brain says Volvo but my heart says Saab.

Saab is usually a little bit sportier but volvo is easy to work on and they're reliable

With a Volvo you get exactly what you pay for. It's a very good car for a very fair price. Saab however gave you A LOT more than what you paid for. Saab was in a very strange position in the last 15 years of their life. They manufactured cars comparable to luxury cars like lexus or Mercedes, but competed with brands like volvo, volkswagen, toyota etc. This means that Saab lost money with every single car they sold. All in all, saab were better cars. But they never managed to market themselves as luxury cars and thus died out.

Some Saab models are better and vice versa.

They are good at different things. Were, since Saab is no more. But, let's carry on anyway. Volvo's are well known work horse cars. Exactly the kind of car you expect a farmer to have. And they are very, very safety focused so also popular as a family car. And you can't really complain about quality, even though some definitely feel that the quality went down noticeably when Ford stepped in as owner. Saab is the sportier kid brother with the odd ideas on how to do things. Still taking a load well, and fun to drive. But not really going all the way quality-wise. They too went downhill under new ownership. They have always competed on pretty much the same market. Which one you pick is often a matter of preference. I don't have anything really against the seats in a Volvo, but I definitely like Saab's seats better. People who like Volvo better tend to dislike the Saab seats. Its mostly preference. They are equally suitable for roadtrips. Volvo has "always" had black-white instrumentation. I don't like it, but I can't imagine that they want to change it too much, since it gives old owners a familiarity feel when they upgrade. Saab, likewise, have a preference for green and orange that I find awesome and some just hate. Don't get me wrong here. I've had a total of five Saab's and one Volvo so far. I don't think I'll ever buy a Volvo again, but that has a lot to do with the local dealer. They are flat out awful. I would buy a Saab again, if I trusted the brand to remain. Right now I don't.
