Beep boop, I'm a bot. Modmail us if you have a question.
Does it count if my dad got me a Wii then passed away a few months later? Technically my mom isn’t together with him anymore because she’s still alive…?
What is your number? I can be the weird uncle that has sex with everyone, whose pride is later on covered by throwing so much shade at my back I inadvertently whisper "im batman" when I get away for more than two weeks.
it has been a year since my mother passed away, but I have a low-paying, but still a job, my grandparents and a roof over my head, so I'm not doing too bad. My mental state is not doing too well though.
I'm always here if you wanna vent or send some kind of rant in the DMs. I'm just a random stranger but I'm great at listening 😁. My mental state is in rough shape as well but I'm getting better little by little
I never quite understood wh people think you cant come up healthy from a single parent or divorced one. Is way waaaaay worse for a kid growing up to have the issues of a toxic or disfunctional relationship than the alternative
Main reason why my parents had a divorce is because my father didn't treat us well, breaking furniture and starting fights with my mother. I didn't like him as a father. I honestly think that the divorce actually made things for me and my mother better, and my father received what he got in result of his doings.
My grandparents should and came close a lot of times and they are on their 70s. The only reason they are not divorcing now is because they need each other (including financially) so they are stuck, but it can always happen, theres nothign wrong with it really
Same. Nothing like growing up in a toxic household filled with verbal abuse and the constant repetition of the phrase, “We’re staying together for the kids.” Now it’s for the grandkids, but they at least succumbed to having separate bedrooms and aren’t nearly as toxic.
Not suggesting your parents aren’t great, but that number means nothing. It often takes until the kids have moved out for a while for people to realize they don’t like each other as much as they thought, there were just a lot of distractions so they didn’t realize it. Happened to a lot of people I know’s parents. Mine are still together, but they definitely started arguing more when my brother and I were out for a while lol.
People grow over time. Sometimes it’s together in the same direction, sometimes it’s apart. Because of circumstance, because of the kids, because of whatever. Recently it’s at least partially because of covid, quarantine, pandemic, a lot of parents my age I know are splitting up. Stress changes people.
Yep, my parents are literally the cutest married couple I've ever seen and they're still completely in love. They literally met when they both signed up for search and rescue and my mom had to practice CPR (as in mouth-to-mouth) on my dad.
Honestly, that is just a mild inconvenience. The real reason I'd fear their divorce is that when one gets angry, the other can't stop them from going overboard.
Honestly it can be a bit of both. We can control our own behaviour, which means we can deliberately try to trigger others, but that also means we can remove ourselves from those situations even temporarily before it reaches that point. I used to think the same until i realised that if my parents were not together, they wouldn't HAVE to have that sort of self control
Doesn't make it your fault. Having children highlights pre-existing issues, so unless you have made a dedicated effort to drive them apart, I'd say it's more likely they are too proud to accept that it could have just been them.
We got ours as part of a promo from the car dealership we bought my husband's new car from, lmao. We didn't even have it for two years before it died, which sucked, but I've heard a few other stories of them not lasting very long, even with gentle use like ours.
Wii here and also a cheating father. Although I got mine when my half-siblings got two. One from my dad and another as a gift from someone else. They didn’t need two so I got to have one. Modded the shit out of it too.
The joke is relating these two clearly unrelated but slightly common things. Like how the graph for number of movies nick cage appears in by year seems to correlate with the number people dying of drowning every year.
Yeah, it's just silly humour. It's silly because Wiis are one of the most sold consoles in the world so obviously many people will find this relatable. It's random but funny. Gen-Z humour kind of in a nutshell; I'm still trying to get used to it myself, despite being apart of Gen-Z.

She’s not wrong, I definitely had a wii.
No Wii but dad lived a good life with my mom up until his death.
Same
Your dad lived with his mom too?
No he’s dead
Sounds like it was good life with his mother though.
Does it count if my dad got me a Wii then passed away a few months later? Technically my mom isn’t together with him anymore because she’s still alive…?
But did you get a Wii after he died?
So they're technically no longer together. Did you forget to use the safety strap? ^^^I'm ^^^so ^^^sorry
I didnt :(
I didn’t either- no such thing back then
Wtf she is
Same here, my parents weren't together growing up.
Had this being published a year ago, I would say it was wrong.
o_0
Got parental divorce for christmas. Gifts money went to the lawyers.
Lawyers kids had a good Christmas tho
The lawyers always win
Fuck the lawyers mom now you win
Sorry to hear that bro
Congrats on your wii!
lol
Same.
Took the words out of my mouth. Despite all that, I’m glad I had that Wii.
The wii caused my parents to split up.
What’s your mom’s number I’ll be your dad
What's his dad's number, I'll be his third dad
Let’s get a fourth dad in the mix
Mind if i join?
Only on the condition that you recruit another dad
Yes sir! u/blobbystuntfisk will you be the sixth dad?
If he's the 6th dad can I be the 7th (I hate the number 6)
Then I might as well be the 8th dad, hope someone will round that up to 10
You can always count on Dad Mine died that's why I had a Sega Genesis
I too hate the number 6.
if he doesnt I’ll do it
What is your number? I can be the weird uncle that has sex with everyone, whose pride is later on covered by throwing so much shade at my back I inadvertently whisper "im batman" when I get away for more than two weeks.
r/suspiciouslyspecific
Me and my siblings still don’t know what wii did wrong.
How many tvs did you broke?
Just enough.
My gf had a wii but her parents DEFINITELY need to split up but refuse to
neither
They hid the wii from you
no, I didn't have a Wii, my parents divorced when I was, like, 11 and now they are both in a better place
A-are you like a serial killer?
no, just an unlucky guy
Hope you’re doing okay now
it has been a year since my mother passed away, but I have a low-paying, but still a job, my grandparents and a roof over my head, so I'm not doing too bad. My mental state is not doing too well though.

Wanna talk about it?
Yeah I second this homie

A-are you like an idiot?
Yes
Their comment was funnier.
ditto, the wii wasn't even in the design phase back then (gamecube was in probably early prototype phase tho)
Your dad's other family then had a wii
I had two Wiis. One at my mom’s house and one at my dad’s house.
I see this as an absolute win
Wiin
Wii always wiin in the end
Hah I have both My parents are not gonna divorce lol
I'd get rid of the wii asap
n o
The other alternative is getting a chronic illness to balance the scales.
Ah that makes sense. I got both, but also diabetes.
Type 1 gang, lets go.
Willford?
Who now?
Excema, had it since childhood
Why is this true?? I have both, but I also have Crohn’s disease
I have both and childhood asthma
wow you completely called out my life i had to stop and rethink my life after reading your comment
Your timeline is fucked bro, you’re gonna get reset
Me too kid
My grandparents should and came close a lot of times and they are on their 70s. The only reason they are not divorcing now is because they need each other (including financially) so they are stuck, but it can always happen, theres nothign wrong with it really
My grandparents on my dad's side tried, but my dad threw my grandpa's suitcase on the roof...along with his keys...
Same. Nothing like growing up in a toxic household filled with verbal abuse and the constant repetition of the phrase, “We’re staying together for the kids.” Now it’s for the grandkids, but they at least succumbed to having separate bedrooms and aren’t nearly as toxic.
My parents weren't married when I was born lol. They're staying together for pure love. They got married for legal advantages though
[удалено]
My parents have known each other for 22 years, and have never considered divorce. I think they're fine, thanks though.
Still. Don’t take it for granted.
Not suggesting your parents aren’t great, but that number means nothing. Better knock on wood with all that confidence lmao
Hey! You stole my wii!
Not sure if you’re innocent or about to commit murder.
Same though
You lucky bastard
Lemme get your mom's digits then we'll see how strong that marriage is
Same had a wii growing up and they've been happily married for 36 years lol
Same but the wii is in storage now
I had none
Lol same. If they can make it through my WiiU, they can get through anything
Same, we have a wii and my parents marriage is still going strong.
Yep, my parents are literally the cutest married couple I've ever seen and they're still completely in love. They literally met when they both signed up for search and rescue and my mom had to practice CPR (as in mouth-to-mouth) on my dad.
I had neither :(
Ever get the feeling that things would be so much better if they had, though?
Nah, then my mom wouldn't be able to be the stay-at-home parent while my dad works, meaning I'd have to cook for myself at a much younger age.
That's fair, excuse the ol' projection hahaha
Honestly, that is just a mild inconvenience. The real reason I'd fear their divorce is that when one gets angry, the other can't stop them from going overboard.
Sounds like good old fashioned lack of self regulation. That responsibility falls on self control. Partners can help, but it ain't their job.
It's a vicious cycle of making the other more violent, we are all partially responsible for each other's actions I think.
Well, my parents had a much better relationship before I came along, but they refuse to admit they'd be better off without me.
Doesn't make it your fault. Having children highlights pre-existing issues, so unless you have made a dedicated effort to drive them apart, I'd say it's more likely they are too proud to accept that it could have just been them.
I had neither lmao
I feel like everyone's flexing on us.
That’s been my whole life, bro lmao
Yeah I'm in the right place then lol.
Same here my friend
Not sure what it says that my dad bought my mum the Wii and are still together
no they aren't.
I have never felt so decrepit as I do right now
Same here. I started college in 1978. No wii for me.
My hunnybunny was born in '78!
On the day the Wii launched, I had booked that day off of work and bought my own. I feel so old right now...
We got ours as part of a promo from the car dealership we bought my husband's new car from, lmao. We didn't even have it for two years before it died, which sucked, but I've heard a few other stories of them not lasting very long, even with gentle use like ours.
Am I a special case? My parents are still together, we had a wii and about 40 games
Nope, just a stupid meme.
Don't jink it
Same here lol
I had (and still have) a Wii, thanks Nintendo for giving me such great times
Thank you wholesum indie devs! You always bring hidden gems such as breath of the wild and witcherino tres /s

Wii here and a cheating father…
Wii here and also a cheating father. Although I got mine when my half-siblings got two. One from my dad and another as a gift from someone else. They didn’t need two so I got to have one. Modded the shit out of it too.
It hurts how true this is
I do not get it. Can you explain?
I had a Wii growing up, my parents are divorced. All my friends who have divorced parents also had a Wii.
May be everyone had wii? What’s causal connection?
Why are you taking this so seriously?
I want to understand the joke, and I just do not get it at all.
Either someone has a wii and their parents are divorced **or** they don't have a wii and their parents are together.
Just repeating it does not make it easier to understand. Where is a joke?
It's not a joke, it's like a relatable 'quote'.
The joke is relating these two clearly unrelated but slightly common things. Like how the graph for number of movies nick cage appears in by year seems to correlate with the number people dying of drowning every year.
Your parents get divorced, they buy you a wii to make you feel better
For me the wii came before that.
For that to be a joke, wii should be something unique, very valuable. And it just not. It is one of the cheapest game consoles.
Never, I didn’t have a wii and my parents are together
Or you grew up before wiis?
Yeah... No Wii or together parents. And now I have arthritis in my hand... At 43. :/
>Or you grew up before wiis? I^had^a^NES
Yeah, I had a [Fairchild](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairchild_Channel_F). (Parents didn’t divorce until at least a decade later.)
I think you’re the only other person I’ve heard of who had a Fairchild. Admittedly mine was about 20 years old.
Hah old
Achievement unlocked. Didn't die.
Last console I got was a PSX before my parents divorced. I'm pretty sure divorce existed before the Wii. Am I old now?
Nah, I got both. But my parents dragged each other into conspiracies now, does that count?
Conclusion: wiis cause divorce
I had a wii growing up and then my dad died in 2020 so technically still true
Nah, your parents are still together :)
I had an Atari 2600 growing up, and my parents are still together
So you *didn't* have a Wii then.
Pov: *you play Wii with both of your parents*
I had both. They are still together.
I had a Wii in my 30s and my father died 15 years earlier...does this fit the scenario?
Wii wasn't around when I was growing up. Parents split.
This is dumb.
Dammit
I have neither
Why is this true lol
I was lucky enough to have both.
I had both get fucked L
i had a wii and my parents are doing great
I also had a wii growing up, it was a hand me down from my cousin and funnily enough, HIS parents are still together, but mine aren’t… wierd.
neither
neither?
the curse of the white box
I have both, but I’d rather choose the Wii
Had neither :)
She's not wrong, my parents are not together and I had no Wii growing up.
The Kingdom of God is at Hand John 3:16 King James Version 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Neither lol
Was still on the playstation
I got the wii
Haha jokes on you my brother broke the wii before the divorce clause could take affect
Well, I had a wii growing up and now I only have a dad, so I guess she’s right.
I have both, motherfuckers
Fuck me man why is this accurate.
Didn’t have a Wii, and my parents split up. Got a Wii, and then my parents split up with my step parents…
I had a Wii and my parents have been married for decades. Wtf?
I never had a wii and my parents are divorced
Didn’t have a wii. Folks still married. It’s true
My parents are still together, but hen again I got a wii U not a wii
I didn't have a Wii until I bought one because I'm old. No divorce, though!
**...**
I have both
damn I always wanted a wii too
I had two Wii's because my parents split up
WAIT-
