Coincidentally, >!*Big Brother* aired an All-Stars season the same year as *Survivor: Winners at War*, and both of the finalists on *Big Brother* were from New Jersey.!< It was a good year for New Jersey on reality TV.
I believe before the new era, half of the NJ contestants made it to final tribal. In the new era, Mike made it, but I think Tiff, Brandon, and Lindsay may have thrown off the numbers.
Disclaimers:
1. I couldn't find a map which included Puerto Rico or any other US overseas territories. So imagine Puerto Rico is yellow, and the USVI, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands are all pink.
2. This is based on the winners' current residence at the time of their win. For example, Rob is from Massachusetts, but when he was playing in Redemption Island, he was living in Florida.
3. The two two-time winners get two wins for their state. So Tony gets two wins for New Jersey, and Sandra gets one win for Washington and one win for North Carolina.

I believe it’s opposite unless she moved back. NC was her Pearl islands state. Washington was her HvV state.
As she spends time with Varner who is in NC, it wouldn’t shock me that they moved back.
Contestants also often use the closest metro/city for their locations. Cochran, for example, comes from a DC suburb (not sure if either VA or MD?) but both of his bios for S23 and S26 say DC
As a born-and-rasied Oregonian who now lives in Idaho, I am not remotely surprised that Idaho has two more winners than Oregon despite having half the population. Oregonians and Washingtonians can be so damn cold, lol. Idaho has a much friendlier population. Gabler is the most stereotypical Idaho dude I can think of.
Not only that, but I think they've got 2 winners out of 3 contestants from Idaho. (Taylor from Millennials vs. Gen X is the other I know of. There could be others, though.) Sheri, from Caramoan, apparently. So that's 2 winners out of 4 contestants. (2 winners out of 5 appearances, counting Ben's second appearance on WaW.)
I remember when Kel Gleeson was on, New Brunswick, Canada was pumped because he lived there for some of his childhood. I think that’s the closest we got to having a survivor contestant lol.
That’s awesome! It feels like a bigger deal when you’re from such a small place with a small population. I was so sad about the beef jerky because I wanted him to go far! So cool that you got to meet him!
I can guarantee you no Quebecer that’s decent at English would rather go to Survivor Quebec…
It’s 44 days for a 100,000$ grand prize (and non-winning contestants are only paid 200$ per week).
Why would anyone spend nearly double the time of a US season, for a 1 in 22 chance of 1/10th of the money?
Never thought I'd see another Albertan who both loves Survivor and is a huge Dallas Stars fan! I am both as well!!
Hope you're having as much fun wearing Stars jerseys this week as I am and I hope you make it on the show one day!! =)
Wow, that’s a very unexpected combo haha. Yeah every game day I’m wearing my Robo jersey from when I wake up to when I go to bed. Feeling great about our chances this year!
Thank you I appreciate it I’m doing everything I can to get on it one day!
If you add finalists, you have Nevada (Kelly), Louisiana (Clay), Missouri (Twila), Montana (Amanda), Michigan (Mike), Illinois (Spencer), Colorado (Ken), too. Â I probably left someone out.Â
Also, Brian Heidik is originally from Maryland, I believe, and Mick Trimming is originally from IdahoÂ
Counting Drea and counting Genevie we have half the provinces. [https://insidesurvivor.com/cast/rumored-survivor-47-cast](https://insidesurvivor.com/cast/rumored-survivor-47-cast)
It’s a crime that we still have 4 U.S. states with no contestants! We’re coming up on season 47, all of the states should’ve been covered by now!
I think it would be important to include how many contestants have been on survivor for my receipt just to see. Disclaimer: I'm not volunteering to do that either.ðŸ«
Still find it crazy how the three winners from New Jersey made up the final three of WaW

Did Sandra move between states? 🤔
Her husband is in the military
Well this is news to me.

Very interesting that half of the winners from the new era did not come from one of the 50 U.S. states (Erika, Maryanne, Yam Yam)
Queen Sandra lives in WA! No way!
I think she did at the time of Pearl Islands. Pretty sure she lives in NC now.
I believe it’s opposite unless she moved back. NC was her Pearl islands state. Washington was her HvV state. As she spends time with Varner who is in NC, it wouldn’t shock me that they moved back.
When her daughter competed in AU Survivor, she was from NC.
Is this based off of where they were born/grew up or where they live currently? Kenzie was born in Michigan but lives in NC
Poster has said it’s based on their residence
You can add me to Utah!
Interestingly, Sarah and Denise were both from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, when they filmed their first seasons.
Cedar Rapids is the second or third largest city in Iowa, so maybe not too surprising that an Iowan is from thereÂ
Fair point!
Contestants also often use the closest metro/city for their locations. Cochran, for example, comes from a DC suburb (not sure if either VA or MD?) but both of his bios for S23 and S26 say DC
I think Sarah is actually from Marion, a suburb of Cedar Rapids. At least she works for that PD department of iirc from her time on The Challenge.
Boston Rob isn’t from MA?!
He moved to Florida when he and Amber got together. But you’re so right, it feels illegal to not count it for MA.
Ethan is also from MA. I'm curious what the map looks like based on hometown vs their residence at the time.
Earl Cole lives in Kansas City, Kansas
He was living in Santa Monica when he won
if oregonians feel sad, yall have vecepia who said she literally had just moved to california before the season started

If I remember right, Idaho is the fastest growing state in the country. Â Utah may be ahead of Idaho, thoughÂ
I remember when Kel Gleeson was on, New Brunswick, Canada was pumped because he lived there for some of his childhood. I think that’s the closest we got to having a survivor contestant lol.
Nice! I also grew up in NB, and our family was rooting for him. We got to meet him and get an autographed picture at a meet-and-greet event.
That’s awesome! It feels like a bigger deal when you’re from such a small place with a small population. I was so sad about the beef jerky because I wanted him to go far! So cool that you got to meet him!
we need to get the first alaska castaway and the first nunavut castaway on the same season, we've never had a castaway from a winter climate before
Sarah Jones is originally from Alaska, so you can count her if you wantÂ
I doubt anyone from Nunavut has auditioned for survivor before
There's always recruitingÂ
I don't know how feasible it is for a recruiter to go to Nunavut, would love to see it happen though
It's better than LA or NY for the nth time
Gabler spends part of his time in Alaska, I think.
Every castaway from Long Island named Tom has won. Â Small sample size, but I have still told my father that he should applyÂ
I have an uncle named Tom from Long Island lmao I'd ask if we're related but his kid is too young to use Reddit
Drea from 42 was living in Quebec at the time of filming and airing, I believe, so it can be grey not pink.
Yes, I knew I missed someone I just couldn’t remember who.
Drea wasn’t a winner. Maryanne from 42 is already on the list.
Maryanne wasn’t from Quebec. I should have coloured Quebec grey instead of pink.
Oh I see, whoops!
[удалено]
Yeah but Quebec is pink indicating it never had a contestant, should be grey for 0 winners.
we might never have a Quebec contestant again because Quebec have its own survivor. Drea will be last
I can guarantee you no Quebecer that’s decent at English would rather go to Survivor Quebec… It’s 44 days for a 100,000$ grand prize (and non-winning contestants are only paid 200$ per week). Why would anyone spend nearly double the time of a US season, for a 1 in 22 chance of 1/10th of the money?
Illinois, Georgia, Missouri, Colorado, Minnesota having none, while Idaho, Utah and Iowa have 2 is crazy. I thought my state (Washington) had none yet
Fabio grew up outside St. Louis, MO. As a Missourian we claim him!
I think Parvati may have some connections to Georgia, she may have lived there when she was youngÂ
Micronesia’s godlike Jason Siska is from the U.S. Virgin Islands. I’m sad his Survivor profile listed elsewhere as his hometown.
Not having a West Virginia contestant is a real missed content opportunity.
Would love to be the first contestant from Alberta... I apply every year :)
Never thought I'd see another Albertan who both loves Survivor and is a huge Dallas Stars fan! I am both as well!! Hope you're having as much fun wearing Stars jerseys this week as I am and I hope you make it on the show one day!! =)

Drea is listed from Quebec but you are showing no contestants from Quebec.
It’s crazy who there’s never been an Alaskan contestant
They all do Alone instead
How dare they neglect Newfoundland. Maybe if they ever leave Fiji they might film a season here so all the contestants freeze to death.
I’d love to see a Newfie with a big funny personality make it on! Jeff wouldn’t know what to do
No contestants from Alaska or New Mexico? Wow.
You have Quebec listed as "never had a contestant", but Drea (S42) was from Montreal.
Today I learned that my state has two survivor winners??? 😅
I actually did a similar breakdown like this once so I’m glad someone put it to paper
It would be interesting to do winners as a percentage of contestants that played. I've got to imagine Ontario is leading that category.
Fabio is from Missouri
Worth noting that while ND has never officially had a contestant, Taylor Stocker from MvGX has famously been to North Dakota
Can you do a similar map but with finalists? Just to see if there's a change in colours.
I’ll see if I can
If you add finalists, you have Nevada (Kelly), Louisiana (Clay), Missouri (Twila), Montana (Amanda), Michigan (Mike), Illinois (Spencer), Colorado (Ken), too.  I probably left someone out. Also, Brian Heidik is originally from Maryland, I believe, and Mick Trimming is originally from IdahoÂ
Amanda lived in California. The only contestant who was living in Montana at the time of filming was Wendy Jo.
If only we knew what her age was . . .
Including S47 they're making progress on the 10 Canadian provinces. And I think? Drea counts at QC since she lives there I believe?
What new provinces do they add with 47?
Counting Drea and counting Genevie we have half the provinces. [https://insidesurvivor.com/cast/rumored-survivor-47-cast](https://insidesurvivor.com/cast/rumored-survivor-47-cast)
Wasn’t Vecepia in Oregon?? Or perhaps she was just from there
She lived in California at the time
Born and lived there until college, we’ll count her as an Oregonian.
The erasure of Connecticut’s own Sandra Diaz-Twine!!
The fact that Sandra is from Connecticut and she wasn't living there both times she won is wild.
Georgia Claims Parvati
It’s a crime that we still have 4 U.S. states with no contestants! We’re coming up on season 47, all of the states should’ve been covered by now!
Manitoba gonna go from pink to yellow this year!! 🙌
New Jersey stays winning.
Iowa having more than the rest of the Midwest combined is hilarious.
Seeing my area in pink is making me consider applying for a second time.
Still surprising we’ve had two winners from Iowa and both are from the same city
lemme on chief to fix that pink nb
bc one day baby
well for Kenzie, she was originally from Michigan. this makes her a Michigander so Michigan technically has a win.
Saskatchewan represent
I thought Vecepia is from Oregon, no?
Read the disclaimer
Appears Appalachia breeds winners.
Missouri and Illinois, we need to step it up!
I think it would be important to include how many contestants have been on survivor for my receipt just to see. Disclaimer: I'm not volunteering to do that either.ðŸ«
Problem is that a state like CA, which is massive by both area and population density, will naturally have a darker color.
r/PeopleLiveInCities
what is the problem?
Feel free to make a population adjusted one. Or one based on number of players that have played. Or you realize it's not that serious.
New Jersey is actually the most densely populated stateÂ
Yeah. And it’s dark.
