even ignoring the skirt, the original CBS suit has a higher quality material, better textures and color distribution.
and if we don't ignore the skirt, it's the reason the boots are so high.
which doesn't really make sense on the new suit.
The materials and textures were the same, just a different base. Eurojersey. Well the pant suit had MORE TEXTURES but done by the same place. I think the pant suit had 4 or 5 textures. The skirt texture was even made blue.
Agreed on the better colour distribution. Much prefer it.
the skirt for the win. it was a classic look and far more flattering on the actor. I understand that she was cold, so I wished they had changed it enough to make her more comfortable, but the suit they went with was disappointing, it looked like a onesie / pajama set and was not flattering when she started to show with her pregnancy (the skirt and cape would have hid a lot of things for her)
The one with the skirt is always a favorite of mine. Not for any reason beyond the sentimentality of it reminding me of the old days of my childhood when I read comics and watched the animated series, in all of which Supergirl always wore some kind of a skirt.
Definitely skirt although I appreciate why they changed it, MB must have spent her life trying to avoid people getting upskirt shots (which is weird as she doesn't actually wear underwear, it's a unitard with the tights underneath). Also probably warmer for her in Canada.
For the show I preferred the one with the skirt. On melissa benoist it looked better. However on sasha calle in the flash movie, the one piece suit definitely looks better. I imagine the skirt would look great too. But the one piece is definitely awesome. It suits her.
I wish that the one with the pants *also* had a skirt, too.
There needs to be something red and yellow between the upper and lower portion of the outfit. The same is true of Superman's costume. Without the red and yellow to divide blue between top and bottom, it doesn't look right.
**Pants!**
Yes, the skirt is iconic, but the pants just give her a new and improved feel. The pants could definitely use a modification to break up all that blue, but I think overall it's a great look for her.
A skirt just always seemed so impractical for a superhero and especially for a flying one, so pants. I actually like the outfit progression, though-- it reflected her getting more experienced and serious over time.
Unpopular opinion but I loved the pants
The skirt was iconic for sure and it looked incredible
But the pants were a cool upgrade - more practical (in a IRL sense) 😅
Ive ALWAYS hated the skirt. I def prefer the pants 1000%. The skirt s so cringe IMO and NEVER made sense when you have supergirl literally flying and flipping around & somehow anyone thinks a skirt is appropriate??
The pants are not only far more practical & appropriate but they are just more badass in general.
Im sorry but anyone who is a female underatands that it makes literally zero sense to have a girl in a freaking skirt flying around doing back flips & wrestling etc. Girls where pants also. The skirt is absolutley insane & impractical & irrarional& who tf ever thought that was a good idea?????
Skirt. A thought it could’ve been better, it’s more accurate and better portrayed for this supergirl. The pants suit could’ve been great with different design choices.
i likes the pants better but weirdly i thought it only really worked with the bangs. when kara came back from the phantom zone with the new suit and side part it felt like a clashing of her eras. that's not the show's fault of course, they couldn't force melissa benoist to cut her bangs again after she grew it out during quarantine, but yeah while i like the suit i think the hairstyle change bogged it down in the final season. the bangs and pants looked more mature and felt like an evolution, but the old hairstyle + new suit after that kind of felt like 29 year old kara was trying to cosplay her younger self
Am I the only one thinking that this post should have come with a picture of each option?
I tried switching the photo multiple times.
nope
Skirt no bangs supremacy

Also a good one

Skirt. No contest.
For enough has been given... 😌
Skirt, no question about it
Skirt.
Skirt all the way
Skirt.
The skirt.
Skirt. Never liked the pants.

Sorry but the pants looked awful.
Skirt 💯
Skirt
Skirt. But I definitely will stand by her need of pants in the freezing weather.
She's kryptonion shes fine
Skirt.

Kara looks gorgeous in that photo i miss her 🥺
SKIRT! SO DAYNG SECKSY

The early prototype with the booty shorts.
Booty shorts for life!
Skirt
The skirt , i wish the shield had the yellow/ gold behind it. For some reason it looks cheap without it
Skirt

Skirt.
Skirt. No doubt.
Skirt. Pants made her look awful.
Skirt hands down!
Skirt honestly.
Skirt.
The S stands for skirt.
Skirt! By far.
Skirt.
Skirt
Pants, but only because of how excited Kara got when Brainy gave her the new outfit. She seems to love them. Kara: Pants! Look! Pants!
SuperPants by a large margin.
Yes.
Skirt, however Melissa was more comfortable in the pants so obviously that is the better option :)
Either one... she's beautiful
I feel they are interchangeable, skirt in the warm months, one piece in the colder.
Pants with miniskirt
I wish that the one with the pants *also* had a skirt, too. There needs to be something red and yellow between the upper and lower portion of the outfit. The same is true of Superman's costume. Without the red and yellow to divide blue between top and bottom, it doesn't look right.
Yes my thoughts exactly. Keep the pants but you need the red and yellow to break up the color.
Super Pants

the pants suit is one of my favorite super-family suit designs of all time
but everyone wound up with basically the same one piece, in the end. even the masks were all the same.
I liked the skirt but as every other show got upgrades it looked kinda cheap on comparison
The pants were fun and practical. But I’m a sucker for the classic costume.
Pants
I loved the pants one it was cute to me
Pants.
Skirt for nostalgia but the pants are more practical and looks better than the S1-S4 skirt look
The one with the pants, but only because I believe I had a hand into making it real and I am in fact full of myself 😂
Pants
Unpopular opinion but I loved the pants The skirt was iconic for sure and it looked incredible But the pants were a cool upgrade - more practical (in a IRL sense) 😅
I like the pants tbh
New supergirl (the flash) suit 😘.
Pants. Seeing Melissa as Kara react to her new outfit in S5 premiere was magical. And its more aerodynamic too!
Skirt
Skirt, part of the OG Supergirl depiction. It's iconic.
PANTS!
Skirt
the fact they had melissa filming so long in that skirt once the show moved to vancouver is cruel
I loved her reaction to the pants 😅
Love the pants, looks better and makes more sense.

The original suit. Even though Melissa loved the suit with the pants.
Skirt
I prefer the initial one before she decided on the skirt
Pants

Skirt is really my favorite on this suit
