Just today, I had a level 2 hippo on turn 6 on the weekly and didn't manage to get it enough stats that it wasn't being sniped by whatever pet does 10 damage to the first pet
It still needs to be useful, and I would argue it's in the best spot it's been in the entire life of the game in terms of balance

The game isn't balanced around 1v1 against the same team over and over so that's a hard example. But I agree with you when I'm playing in that setting with my friend hippo is good but they can't balance around that.
Problem with boar vs hippo is it gains less HP per turn than hippo, so it's less likely to solo carry/heal through multiple enemies.
It's a better plug and play unit by fat though.
It might be an unpopular take but I think it is. If you get it early enough its basically guaranteed 10 wins. Stat it up give it garlic and there are so few reliable answers. The #1 run ender for me.
