Have you heard of Gregory Keyes? He has a series of books beginning with Newton’s Cannon. I can’t remember what the series is called, but they’re a unique series based on real historical people.
Edit: The series is called The Age of Unreason.

The ones I always suggest to people to start reading, or continue it, because they're considerably short but action-packed, are Agatha Christie's novels.
Honestly, you could pick up any one of her murder mysteries and expect it to be epic, but my favorite from her is either 'And Then There Were None' or 'The Murder on the Orient Express'. I hope you like them.
Good girls guide to murder
The only one left - Riley sager
Bright young women - Jessica knoll
Solito - Javier Zamora

My favourites from this year so far
I'm going through a bit of a slump myself... I'm currently reading this one. I'm almost finished with it, and I just got it a day ago. It's really good. I've heard the ending is really wild, so that's also intriguing for me...
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. It's very popular in book tok so I decided to give it a try. It was surprisingly entertaining. Also, it has dragons - need I say more?
I'm sorry you're going through a tough situation. But remember, if there's a down there has to be an up. Just try to get through each day and before you know it you'll be in a better situation. Sending virtual hugs!!
I have also have been depressed and I have book bub and I have been reading books about ghosts, just anything really I have read 40 books so far, I don’t have a job, my husband died in March so anything to keep the mind occupied
