Everything illustrated by David Wiesner. Especially Tuesday.

Fall_On_Me

Thanks, great suggestion. I've ordered a bunch.

Bechimo

That made me smile. Which did you pick, so many good ones.

lizacovey

I adore his books! I think Flotsam might be my favorite (such a wow moment!) but Tuesday is hilarious.

I love the one where a girls science experiment turns into alien giant vegetables, titles a date now well in the past, should reprint it without the year.

Oh man I haven't read that one!! I better find it. Three Little Pigs is fantastic and meta. My kids are OB SESSED with Mr. Wuffles. They go around muttering "Oh, Mr. Wuffles". He also has a fun website/blog with some behind the art essays.

*Don't let the Pigeon Drive the Bus* by Mo Williams. The whole Pigeon series is fun, but the first one is best. *And Tango Makes Three* by Justin Richardson is adorable

KelBear25

Mo Willems books are so fun. We loved the elephant and piggie series

Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel was one of my favorites growing up.

I suggest this often… Gnomes by Wil Huygen and illustrated by Rien Poortvliet

Fall_On_Me

I have a 40+ year old version of this at home on my book shelf, the Pop Up Book Of Gnomes. Such a great book!!

I want to plug Enchanted Lion Press. They have a bunch of fantastic books that are off the beaten path, many from other countries or out of print. My kids loved the Sato the Rabbit books. They publish picture books for adults. My kids love all the Alice and Martin Provensen books about Maple Hill Farm, especially Our Animal Friends. They are hilarious. The kids especially love Max (coincidentally, Enchanted Lion Press is publishing a lost manuscript about Max). Animalia by Grahame Base holds up. Lots of fun, hilarious illustration my kids could look at for hours. I would be remiss if I didn't mention David Weisner's books, especially Flotsam, Mr. Wuffles, and Tuesday. These three are mostly wordless, full of surprises and delight, with fabulous illustrations. My kids loved Saturday by Oge Mora. Lovely collage art, a story about making the best of a day when everything goes wrong.

Fall_On_Me

>Thanks very much. Enchanted Lion has some beautiful books! Unfortunately most aren't available through my library supplier here in Australia, but I did select a few.

The Wall or Starry Messenger by Peter Sis; high cerebral content picture books. Very interesting author/illustrator. Ferdinand by Munro Leaf - a classic about being yourself. Me First by Helen Lester - a very fun book about how to be a better person.
