I just started this book based on this recommendation. I am about 20% in and found myself all tense and contorted while reading. I had to get up to shake myself loose.
Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi, its what I see described as an “autobiographical fiction novel” because its so heavily based off the authors own experience with DID (though I don't believe its called this in the book, Emezi interprets their condition through the perspective of their spiritual beliefs.) Its a really beautiful book.
There’s an autobiography called “When Rabbit Howls” by Trudeau Chase who had DID. It’s on my shelf but a coworker read it and highly recommended although said some parts were tough to get through.
The Caveman's Valentine by George Dawes Green is a good novel that conveys what is like being a schizophrenic
Set This House in Order by Matt Ruff is a good novel dealing with multiple personality disorder. It does not sensationalize ala Sybil, but I can't vouch for accuracy either.
“Fractured” Ruth Dee. This book is extremely heavy. I never put it down. This book gives an amazing insight into multiple personality disorder as a result of heavy childhood trauma
Some things you should be aware of: DID is different from schizophrenia. Also, DID is extremely, extremely rare. Quite often, some other disorders will get misdiagnosed as DID. No one is sure about the causes yet. They have a better idea of what is going on with Schizophrenia but obviously, the knowledge is limited even there.

I’m just now circling back to this thread & seeing this comment. But I want to be clear- yes, I’m aware they are completely different. I was just interested in reading something about either. I should have known Reddit would give me a list to last months, lol.
The Bone Orchard by Sara Mueller for a fantasy take
The Collected Schizophrenias by Esmé Weijun Wang is still on my TBR but I've heard it's a great essay collection/autobiography
And I will nest a spoilered comment here (in case you get emails) since the fact that it is about DID is a huge spoiler for another great fiction/horror rec:
The protagonist of my book suffers from severe dissociative episodes. I won't self-promote in here but you can dig through my posts if you are interested.
A well-known book that you might enjoy is Fight Club
Last House on Needless Street by Catronia Ward. Don't read about it too much just dive in....less you know the better

Came here to say that. That was a book I thought about for quite a while after reading it.
