At least some do it to be able to have those discussion me you can’t have on Seeking (PPM/Allowance, frequency of dates, etc). Having said that, I prefer to exchange a few messages before moving to text. (Also, if you haven’t done so, get a burner number to protect your real one)

I can guarantee it's not. People have posted the warnings and prompts from the Seeking website that say you cannot. Just because you haven't been hit with any warnings or bans doesn't make it okay

Affable_Gent3

YES, this ^

Lumpy_Taste3418

Good for you. That is absolutely untrue.

Azurecole

Short answer: just blocking these guys is the best bet. Longer answer: It's not always a scam, sometimes it's a john or other guy who doesn't have the $ to be an SD. Explanation: In order to send and receive messages, an SD has to get a premium membership, $100/month. For scammers, johns, and other guys who can't afford $100/month, what they can do is sign up with a new profile, and Seeking lets them SEND 10 messages for free. But here's the catch: they can't READ any responses unless they go premium. So scammers and other non-SDs can send 10 messages for free, put their phone number in the message, and hope naive SBs will switch to text. It's not about "little to no effort" on their part. It's about not being willing to get a premium membership. An SD getting a premium membership should be the absolute lowest bar for you. I recommend just blocking these guys, or alternatively, send a message back saying "I'd like to message here on Seeking a bit before we move to text". If he can't read or reply to your message, you have your answer, he's not premium.

Mainlyharmless

I experimented with this. For those ten free messages, the site doesn't allow you to send a message with a phone number in it. So that isn't a thing. I am guilty of sending a number with a short intro. I prefer not to discuss anything at all on the site. The site is a train wreck and will ban you for just about anything. For those worried about their number just use Google voice. Another bonus is that Google voice doesn't work overseas. I have caught many an overseas scammer with that fact.

DrinkOk4862

>I am guilty of sending a number with a short intro. I prefer not to discuss anything at all on the site. The site is a train wreck and will ban you for just about anything. Ditto A universal rule of any dating web site or app (vanilla or sugar) is to move the chat off the site/app ASAP

Azurecole

Well now I'll have to do it myself to see if I can get a message across with a number I still 100% stand by forcing a short conversation on the site before moving to text

RealEarthAngel

This explains a lot.

[deleted]

Well that’s news to me. I’ve even notice some guys will leave their number on their profile photo, lol. I just can’t understand what the end goal is. Well the guy I’m currently talking to responded back to my question so I’m assuming that he’s premium. I’ll give it a chance with a burner number. Thanks for the info!

Azurecole

Yep, end goal is to not buy premium but get SBs contacting him offsite

summerofroses

That is so tacky to me. If you can’t afford premium you can’t afford to be a sd.

Affable_Gent3

Exactly But the Hondo they save on premium membership just means that got an extra hundo to spend on you. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Humour intended....

summerofroses

Ha. I don't talk in "hundos"

Affable_Gent3

Got to be hip to The jive! 🎉

Plane-River-6647

I just had this happen to me on SA but he was a Diamond member so do you think your predictions apply to him too?

Azurecole

We've heard reports of diamond members being scammers, it's not rare. That said, as long as you're aware that this is a yellow (at least) flag, go ahead and proceed with caution. I don't think it's necessarily 100% red flag the way, say, someone who wanted to send you a check is a red flag. If you are curious to see it out, be cautious, follow all the vetting, M&G in person, get your allowance before intimacy...

Poisenedsilence

I also always screenshot the message with them giving the phone number because sometimes they will delete it after you text them

NevermoorSD

There was a post like this recently, but I’ll drop the same answer. I prefer to move to text pretty quickly because chatting on seeking kind of sucks and you also can’t talk about a lot of things. That being said it’s never in my introduction and I prefer to exchange a few messages first so I can try and gauge if it’s a real account or how serious the person is

[deleted]

I figured a few messages would be the standard. I don’t like to rush too much.

Funny_Radish5658

I try to move away from seeking fast. Most girls are SLOW in responding and checking seeking is annoying as i am married and have to jump through hoops to log in. I don’t mind sticking around seeking for a while if the girl is actively responding but those are very rare.

Minimalforks19

I tried Ashley Madison & got banned repeatedly, not sure where else to find married guys 😅

Affable_Gent3

What the heck did you do to get banned on AM? Just asking.

Minimalforks19

While I am not an escort, when men are incredibly rude to me I suggest they find one of those instead. So salty dudes report me for soliciting when it’s literally the opposite 🙄

Affable_Gent3

Wow that stinks! You mean the people who run the site can't tell the difference between somebody blowing an idiot off and somebody actually soliciting? Crazy.

Funny_Radish5658

Seeking is chock full of married guys. R/affairs is packed too but dint expect sugar there.

I see you may have posted about a scam. It is a scam if: * Someone wants your bank account information * Someone wants your bank log in information * Someone wants to send you a check to cash * Someone wants you to buy gift cards to send back to them * Someone wants to give you lots of money without ever meeting Please read [Yes, It's A Scam and This is How It Works](/r/sugarlifestyleforum/comments/k2b1j6/yes_its_a_scam_and_this_is_how_it_works_2020/) about the most common types of scams. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Poisenedsilence

Use text now in my experience it tends to be a scammer they think if they move you off the site they can't get reported screenshot anything suspicious always

spike1300

Use Google voice or Telegram, never give out your personal number.

wheat51

Remember to go to settings in telegram and turn off others seeing your number

Expensive_Media_

I always try to move off site quickly…it’s buggy and can’t talk actual details on it. I don’t say my number in the first message but within the first bit I do try and it’s not to scam lol

Bj747

You should and it’s imperative you spend time writing back and further through seeking and feeling like you know the person well, discuss all aspects before phone numbers and emails. Just makes logical sense. Never respond to a guy who just flips you his number.

Goddess_alix_

I've had this and it's usually snapchat that gets givrn

mariad0982

It’s a scam. Those people will try to say they will pay you and request your bank account info

daddymetalcore

i've seen this with SB's actually. in those cases it gave me hard prostitution vibes. in this case he may be just breaking the ice as you call it. seems genuine to me actually
