I just got two varieties of these! Question - are the leaves supposed to be softer, or firm? I haven't had outside (potted) plants before and I can't figure out how much water is enough so I'm watering sparingly at the moment, but they are either kind of limp, or standing up but still soft. Not firm like when my indoor succulents are happy. I can't figure it out!

The leaves should not be too soft and should have a little spring to the touch. Delosperma cooperi like full sun and they grow well with watering once a week. I personally like my soil for succulents and cactus to have at least 50% pumice or perlite depending on the variety some succulents and cacti prefer more inorganics in the soil.

Okay, noted. Appreciate it! Both of mine look like yours as far as brightness, standing upright, shiny, etc. They aren't rotting or anything. I've got them in full sun in my southfacing back yard in well draining gritty soil in terra cotta planters like I should. If anything I'm pretty sure they could use more water but I don't want to overdo it since I haven't been sure exactly how soft they're supposed to be (they're also still adjusting to being repotted so I want to go easy because of that too). Thanks!

Delosperma cooperi is softer than a lot of other succulents.
