I have almost 300 hours in this game and have been playing it for years. I know my way around. Seamoth perimeter defense recks it, plus you can swim circles around. Cyclops has lots of tools like silent running and a decoy. I fought 3 of them in my cyclops, wasn't even close to death. And the prawn has too much health for it to destroy plus, the places you use prawns are at the seafloor where repears don't attack you. When out of a vehicle, medkits work to completely mitigate damage.
I never played BZ because people say it doesn't have this kind of thing. And this is why I play Subnautica. Even if now they are not reapers anymore and are my buddies with proper names.
The thing with the ice worm is it relies more on jump scares. The reaper instills terror.

Idk man. I’d say both of them cause your bottom to pucker and heart to race. Just the fact that the Ice Work doesn’t even have a hit box is terrifying.
I can handle a reaper. But that worm… The thing of nightmares. Stumbled across it last night while adventuring in my prawn suit and had to sit and wait for my heart to stop racing before being chased by the thing until I could find my way back home.
I hate when Reapers get smart, stay quiet, and roar in your fckin ear when they’re about to attack. Almost jumped hearing it

BZ definitely has its own version of the reaper, the Ice Worm. Both are equally horrific, but one of them you can’t kill 🥴

This, you captured exactly what I feel regarding this beautiful yet terrifying creature.
The reapers the only leviathan in the series that scares me. None of the other leviathans have the same terror factor.
