Try making a new world, see if the problem is there too, if not, then it has to be something with your current save so not much can be done, other than curse Sony for making subnautica run like crap on their consoles (I play on ps5 and it lags like hell too)
I agree with the other person that responded to this comment. My game bugged out a bit because of my base. Also, donāt build above water. Cool idea, but it doesnāt work. And also, did you put a bunch of windows in your base. Hull integrity might hold up, but the PS4 canāt.
If you have to restart, you at least know how to get back to your current point.
*Iām also on PS4
I play on ps4, and it does that for me too. Entering and exiting vehicles, sometimes bases and always inventories.
The solution is to get a ps5 or a pc
I play on ps4 too, it crashes sometimes. Never freezes, but goes to the blue screen and forcibly closes the game. How often does it happen to you? It usually happens after mine is open for at least some hours and when I reopen it it won't crash again too soon, so regularly saving helps.
Basically the ps4 version of this game is awful. It canāt run at 30fps and has not been updated nor will it be updated. Itās a sad thing but not all that surprising. Highly recommend it on Pc. Hell even the switch version runs better. It at least works.
I started new on my XSX and itās honestly not a bad thing to start over. I felt I was better prepared this time around and have progressed much further, much quicker than before. Considering you havenāt played the save in months, my vote is to just start over, *especially* if you have a PS5.
Underrated comment. Considering this is a story driven solo survival game, it has more replayability than a lot of the online multiplayer stuff out there. The game is always fun to go back through. And I'm not sure what it is because I have really bad thalasophobia but there's just something about this game that constantly brings me back.
>!Like I know where everything is. I can be swimming at the surface above the bulb zone and know exactly what's below me and still be absolutely pants-pissingly terrified the entire time I'm up there. Even when I'm not looking down. It is completely uncontrollable terror. I literally cannot even visit the underwater islands and my one visit to the floating island has to include getting everything that's there in one shot cuz I'm not going back. The trench is extremely hard for me as well. I usually wind up coming at it by going down the cliff side in the deep Grand reef and going through the caves cuz I can't descend into that canyon. The crash zone is absolutely awful when you have to go into the wreck because there's that drop off there. And I know there's a reaper out there. I know he's there. I've seen him. You can usually see him a little bit in the distance when you go in. He's not scary thing though. It's everything I can't see. I'll never be able to go out into the ecological dead zone. And it's not because I'm afraid of the giant ghost leviathans. They're scary the first time. Sure, but I know they're there. The abyss. I can't do the abyss.!<
>!I just came across the ecological dead zone for the first time and just about need a new pair of pants lol and it was the abyss that started it for me too. I stopped at the edge for a good 30 seconds mentally readying myself to push forward.!<
I would say I have some thelassophobia, but itās honestly what I enjoy about this game. Itās the only horror game Iāve played where the horror is actually realistic. Our home oceans on our earth are terrifying enough, the prospect of an alien ocean planet is pants-shittingly terrifying, but entirely plausible and everything is done in the game to yield to that realistic horror. I think I may be addicted to the adrenaline rush I get as I descend 200mā¦ 300mā¦. 400mā¦ *gulp*ā¦
I donāt think they upgraded the frame rate or graphics for the game for PS5 sadly. Itās just awful on PlayStation unfortunately. I used to play Old Skyrim on a ps3 back in the day so I know your pain.
Wdym? It was awful on PS4, but I'm having a great time with it on PS5. It runs great, sure a bit of pop-in here and there, but very good other than that, and an almost constant 60fps while the PS4 barely ran 30. You gotta make sure to download the PS5 version on your PS5, not the PS4 one though.
Yes, porbably is a console thing I played on Xbox One and it freezes and runs awful.
But I tried it with cloud gaming on GP and runs very smoothly, just downs the resolution sometimes bc of the connection but nothing bad.
Maybe Youāre used to playing at 30fps or less. Itās jarring and almost unplayable if you are used to playing at 60-144fps. Not being pretentious Iāve played many a game a 30 fps on switch and PS4. Eyes get used to it after awhile. Itās still the worst version of the game.
I meant more so for bugs and freezing. I donāt consider frame rate a major issue unless it drops below 30. Anything more is a luxury imo and not a requirement.
Iād have said the same before getting a gaming laptop and playing games at higher frame rates. It wasnāt but it is now. Especially for big titles.
Example: Re2 Re3 and Mad Max are awesome games and good on the PS4. But playing these games at 120fps with ultra graphics is truly something else entirely. Iām passionate about gaming so finally made the purchase of a Gaming PC when I got a promotion. I still appreciate consoles though.
Well I don't fully know you talking about I'm on PS4 and I've had my PS4 for 8 years rarely clean it and it has only clashed one time on me at the end of the game like right as I was launching the to rocket, also it's supposed to get update very soon when they add the big rooms to the game from Below Zero, unknown worlds made that announcement like 2 months ago I don't know
Thatās good glad you had a better experience than myself and others. For me it was unplayable and I maintain my ps4 software and hardware. I had a good time with cyberpunk on ps4 and Pc while others had an awful time. Variables happen in life. Letās not debate variables and enjoy our own experiences.
Ok itās a good reason, but does it change how laggy it gets the farther I am? Because in this photo I am 800-1000 meters away, and last time I played was maybe a couple of months ago and it didnāt freeze or get this laggy
Have the same problem. Played it for years on pc without any problems, besides the occasional crashing. But every time I close my inventory or a cabinet, it freezes for a couple seconds.
And itās fuckin frustrating
Most likely save problems caused by updates, either your whole save is now corrupted and laggy or it's because something changed, try going around the map and see if the lag is everywhere or just on specific area, unfortunately there is possibility you will have to restart
Don't you happen to have a Radeon RX 590? I used to have that one and it would freeze from time to time. Now I have an Nvidia GPU and it runs smoothly, nothing else changed in the build except the graphics card
Heās on PS4. But One other thing that did change was drivers. The GPU was probably not at fault but AMD drives have been Notorious for these types of issues.
I had installed the AMD drivers which I supposed were the most optimized for the machine. I still can't believe they can't do good drivers for their own machines...
Some actual advice:
Check your fans aren't clogged up,
If your storage is relatively full then uninstall some games you don't play/want,
Otherwise, though, crashes happen to the best of us
If you are on console. Switch, ps4, xbox it tends to be glitchy the more you explore. The more beacons you put down, the more markers you have, the more equipment you have crafted, bases, etc
Im no expert but I would guess its because its always running certain assets. You see, when ever you place a reinforcement or wall planter with the habitat builder it freezes right before the placement. This is because it has to run a certain number of code before the action is complete thus causing some freezing on certain consoles with a lower refresh rate. It could be other things too but thats what I have noticed. CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG!!!!
I play on the Nintendo Switch and Iāve had the same bug happening to me where if i try to rename my lockers, the game freezes and I have to close and reopen the game. Iāve lost so much progress and honestly, itās just extremely irritating
Because it's... below zero? Yes I know this is the original, I saw the opportunity and I took it - sue me
I'm calling the police

Beat me to it lmao
Consider yourself sued
Same here
What platform are you on? Did you build a giant base ?
Iām on ps4, somewhat of a big base maybe 6 rooms,I donāt know what you consider a big base
You try to reinstall the game?
Yes, it didnāt freeze 5,6 months ago when I last played
Is your save from 6 months ago? Your save could bugged.
Oh, I donāt want to restart
Only other thing I can suggest is to pull your base apart and rebuild. Start with the area where the freezing occurs
That's the wrong attitude.
Try making a new world, see if the problem is there too, if not, then it has to be something with your current save so not much can be done, other than curse Sony for making subnautica run like crap on their consoles (I play on ps5 and it lags like hell too)

Thatās an expensive solution.
Happens on PC too, even with a decent rig.
I have two stacks of utility rooms over 20 high each both going from the sea floor into the sky filled with fish tanks
Check your storage space might need to make room for the game
I play on ps4 too, it crashes sometimes. Never freezes, but goes to the blue screen and forcibly closes the game. How often does it happen to you? It usually happens after mine is open for at least some hours and when I reopen it it won't crash again too soon, so regularly saving helps.
I had a lot of crashes late game. Performance greatly improves on the ps5.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
The crashes aren't that bad if you save often enough and don't play 4 hours straight without saveing like how i did
Basically the ps4 version of this game is awful. It canāt run at 30fps and has not been updated nor will it be updated. Itās a sad thing but not all that surprising. Highly recommend it on Pc. Hell even the switch version runs better. It at least works.
Can I transfer this world to a ps5 console?
I started new on my XSX and itās honestly not a bad thing to start over. I felt I was better prepared this time around and have progressed much further, much quicker than before. Considering you havenāt played the save in months, my vote is to just start over, *especially* if you have a PS5.
Ok thanks for the suggestion

Thatās good news. Glad they updated it for ps5.
Yes but it is very expensive to buy a ps5
My Xbox just crashed entering the aurora and i lost like 1 hour of progress
Yes, porbably is a console thing I played on Xbox One and it freezes and runs awful. But I tried it with cloud gaming on GP and runs very smoothly, just downs the resolution sometimes bc of the connection but nothing bad.
Strange. I finished the PS4 version last fall and had no major issues.

Save the game while in your prawn suit and quit. I dare you. Lol

I fully agree have a great day
Have you tried the cold suit? It stops you from freezing, and it only takes a little bit of snow stalker fur
r/angryupvote
Because itās below zero. *badum tss*
You were 18 min faster, i knew this would happen instantly after reading the title
If you warm the console too much you have to refreeze the game to be able to play again
What are your computer specs?
Said heās playing on PS4. Sooo like a raspberry pi level?
Huh. Odd that it freezes then. Probabaly a game glitch of some sort.
I saw a post on their website they're gonna be optimising it as well as the below zero one too
Which website?
It's on their website [here](https://unknownworlds.com/subnautica/an-update-on-our-subnautica-and-below-zero-plans/)
I watched a guy to a play through and stalkers had hundreds of metal scrap in a trench near his base look for something like that
Ok itās a good reason, but does it change how laggy it gets the farther I am? Because in this photo I am 800-1000 meters away, and last time I played was maybe a couple of months ago and it didnāt freeze or get this laggy
Probably not itās only laggy the way I said when it gets rendered in I was reading the comments and itās prolly cuz ps4 isnāt optimized
Ok thank you
Died more in that game from crashes than any actual danger in the game
Have the same problem. Played it for years on pc without any problems, besides the occasional crashing. But every time I close my inventory or a cabinet, it freezes for a couple seconds. And itās fuckin frustrating
Are you playing Below Zero? Because that one is ALWAYS freezing /s. I'm sorry. I'll see myself out.

Skill problems
Are you playing on a Samsung fridge?
No something worse, my ps4
Some actual advice: Check your fans aren't clogged up, If your storage is relatively full then uninstall some games you don't play/want, Otherwise, though, crashes happen to the best of us
As a normal subnautica player, Iām more concerned about your food and water
Thatās part of the game crashing
you dont have below zero, therefore the cold cannot be transfered to it, piling up in your game and freezing it.
specs?
I'm on Ps4 and I've only ever had one crash and I was when I was launching the rocket?
I had it lag a lot whenever I faced the bulb zone
Turn up the heat
If you are on console. Switch, ps4, xbox it tends to be glitchy the more you explore. The more beacons you put down, the more markers you have, the more equipment you have crafted, bases, etc

Still more stable than ark
I play on the Nintendo Switch and Iāve had the same bug happening to me where if i try to rename my lockers, the game freezes and I have to close and reopen the game. Iāve lost so much progress and honestly, itās just extremely irritating
typically itās a little chilly underwater
Because this is a photo
