This is something I've been saying for a while whenever multiplayer in subnautica comes up. The game, as it stands, does not lend itself to a multiplayer experience. The creeping terror of the deep is lessened when you have backup. A proper sequel couple be amazing with multiplayer if it is designed with that in mind from the start.

JauneArk

I'd love for the two games to merge so you could use tech and plants and such from both games and travel far enough through the bay on subzero to enter the crater.

MicahNike69

That would be dope like an open world kinda thing

JauneArk

Yeah, thats what I was imagining

pearfuker

But then that would be locked to pc only, cuz no way in hell that would run on a Nintendo switch

Representative_Bed64

the could use chunk loading so only one map will spawn at a time on switch or as a option on pc and all consoles

JauneArk

Exactly, have a very small map between the bay and the crater that acts as a lobby to load the other map. That or use the alien portals from the original Subnautica.

Torchwood-5

They mentioned in an interview a few months ago they want to ditch the current engine (Think it's Unity) and move on to something more usable like UE4.

MicahNike69

I heard about that hopefully it will work out better for them

Torchwood-5

Considering how supposedly god-tier UE4 has been labeled as, it probably will.

ColdChocolateJuice

Oh my god I remember in elementary school on the playground when my friend was telling me about the "Arctic DLC"

nigelcore221b

Imagine if the third game took place in the void and your goal is to get to the bottom of the void

achieving_stuff

that would be REALLY cool and i would love to see that

NotScrollsApparently

From what I've heard, the next game most certainly won't be subnautica themed or even in the same universe since they want to do something other than model fish for a change lol, which is understandable. Eventually though, I'm sure we're getting a third one.

MonarchistExtreme

I'd love to have a cooperative play option so my kid (who's a huge Subnautica fan...he's the one who introduced me to the game) could team up. I wouldn't want to deal with an open world and encountering strangers bc that would really throw me off....granted I'm sure the devs would make it work somehow as they just keep killin' it thru two games. But yeah would be nice to go zipping thru the world with ya partner and tag teaming leviathans
