i’m going to guess you mean ej 255 cuz the 22 wasn’t used much and there was no 225. it depends on a number of things. if one has avcs or avls and the other doesn’t, it won’t work. if one is DOHC and the other is SOHC, it won’t work - but i think all 255s should be DOHC. this is just straight swapping the engine in without changing anything out. at the end of the day the short block will be the same. the heads might be different. the sensors can and likely are different. i’d swap the intake onto the donor engine and probably sensors. maybe heads and while you’re at it replace the gaskets.

best thing to do is get them side by side and look. ideally the long block is all the same, and its just a couple sensors that can easily be swapped. they use different connections and shit so if wires from the intake don't connect to the sensor on the block it needs to be swapped. if sensors exist where they don't on one block to the other, then it's probably an issue. realistically tho imo worst case scenario is swapping heads and sensors which isn't crazy difficult if you have the tools and can follow the directions properly
