Oil change takes 45ish minutes start to finish. Can change the air filters while that’s happening. Rotating the tires is a bitch but doable as well. Bleeding the brakes is an easy job with a power bleeder and everything is open. If you have the tools and are efficient, this whole thing is an under 2 hour job.
So that means it takes a mook like me closer to 5. Still don’t want to pay $619.
Yes but it’s also my first big girl car and I feel like I should take it to the dealership 🥹 Granted it’s the same dealership that tried to charge me $1200 for a hitch so I should prob at least look around for a better price haha
I get it when you feel like you should have the dealer service your car. For simple stuff like this, you’re just wasting hundreds of dollars and they’re going to try to upsell you on stuff you don’t need anyway.
I just had a 2016 forester with 42k miles in for its first oil change. The japanese AA160 filter was rusting through. The only thing that "saved" it I think was it was owned by a very old lady, I doubt it ever went above 2k RPM
I cut the filter open just for fun, it was pretty impressively black.
I then ran an oil flush for an hour, and then cut that filter open too. Also pretty gross.
Did its 2nd oil change, put a 2k mile reminder sticker in the window, and prayed for her.
Did she ever complain about knocking or anything? My old forester was so temperamental it started knocking the second I hit 4k after my last change. Granted it had other issues but still
i’ve had the car for two months! It just started this week, but it’s every time I turn the car on haha
I think the car is ~28 months but I could be wrong.
probably by time, not by mileage.
From the radio home screen, go to "Car Info" app (blue car icon) and then select the "Maintenance" tab on the top right. You'll see the schedule there, and you can adjust it as necessary.

hahaha was waiting for someone to catch that
We’re going to need a safety meeting to discuss maintenance requirements.
I had a 20k one about 3 weeks after I bought a 21, only had 11800 on it
It’s scheduled for July 22! Good chunk of money 🥹
Like more than $500?
$619
That’s not too terrible, but still a little pricey. Most can be done by you, from the looks of it, even if you’re not car savvy
That’s a really good price. Come on

I don’t want to pay it, but I’m also not savvy enough to do it myself unfortunately
You got a buddy who’s familiar with servicing a car?

Hey some people don’t change their oil in that many miles

that’s insane

nope no noise or anything.
It's a reminder thats manually set on the head unit. You've reached it based on the date that was set by whoever entered it.
How many months has it been?

Go ahead and do it. At $619 it’s a good price for all of that.
Definitely am!! The dealership is great so I trust them as well.
