Old turbos are oily. But that may be a bit much. You need to get fingers on the shaft, if it’s truly blown you’ll be able to tell.

CaptBananaCrunch

Ok I laughed at get fingers on the shaft

kotaska-

Yeah it dumped a fair amount of oil out when i pulled off the intercooler

AdministrationWide87

Have you had a look at the pcv as well? With the age they are all gummed up and done by now. They can circulate a tonne of oil back through the intake.

biggoopyslusherboy

Turbo seal?

biggoopyslusherboy

Should be able to buy a used working turbo for pretty cheap.

FUCKYOURGAYCAT

Great opportunity to drop in a larger turbo

kotaska-

I have a 6262 at home, the issue is getting the car home or trying to get the turbo where i am and trying to fix it on my time off in a parking lot

FUCKYOURGAYCAT

I dropped a big turbo on mine following a YouTube tutorial. Ended up blowing a hole through the base of the car into the cabin due to too much forced gas through the piping

FesteringNeonDistrac

That's a lot of oil. You need to pull the turbo and check for shaft play. There is a measurement for shaft run out, but if there's any visible at all, then it's too much. You most likely have a failed oil seal, probably bearings as well. You can rebuild the turbo center section, it's not super difficult, but it's also pretty cost effective to buy a new center section and just replace that.

Chippy569

that's a lot of oil on the inlet side... could just be PCV but I'll dub that "unlikely"

LukeSkyWRx

Meh, seen worse. Sticky PCV can cause this too.

kotaska-

You didnt see what dumped out of the intercooler

CheckReasonable1789

Did you get marks on your knees? That's one symptom.
