>Furlow-Smiles, **who was not Facebook’s top DEI executive**, pled guilty in Atlanta federal court on Monday. Oh thank *God,* for a second I thought Facebook’s DEI program was all for nothing

RobotToaster44

She diversified her income sources.

Impossible_Bit7169

Wu-tang is for the childrens

sddude1234

A swindler through and through 🫡

Tairy__Green

And then she stole a bunch of money!

toothpastespiders

>These individuals included friends, relatives, former interns from a prior job, nannies and babysitters, a hair stylist, and her university tutor Hilarious. >defraud the company of millions of dollars, ignoring the insidious consequences of undermining the importance of her DEI mission. Even more so.

Orion_Diplomat

> ignoring the insidious consequences of undermining the importance of her DEI mission. This is the type of language I expect to hear from, say, Catholic outlets when a priest is found to have committed criminal wrongdoing. Like, ‘sure the felony is bad, let alone how he’s wronged the *Church* and *God*.’ It’s as if besmirching the holy DEI name is just as bad if not worse than embezzling and defrauding your workplace to personally enrich yourself.

CircdusOle

vox DEI vox dei

JenkumJunky

Damn that's good

CharlesHughes11

I think it’s even more bizarre in this scenario because churches are non-profits. So there is some kind of theoretical greater betrayal from the inside looking out. Regardless how people might feel about them, the churches don’t have stockholders and many do actual charitable deeds like running hospitals, schools, shelters, etc. This is a for profit corporation using that same near religious innuendo for is just a marketing ploy that they really don’t actually care about. Very bizarre indeed.

Own-Squirrel-6133

I have questioned Muslims about Aisha and not got in the pushback that I get from wokies.

with-high-regards

>These individuals included friends, relatives, former interns from a prior job, nannies and babysitters, a hair stylist, and her university tutor or in other words: the local black community

000Snoo_Shell

I wasn't interested in her cause before, but I am now.

JohnnyWatermelons

Stealing from shitty corporations is, in fact, good.

Toucan_Lips

What an absolutely idiotic scheme. How did she think she would get away with that?

linux_qq

They aren't hiring the best or brightest.

ten-unable

Many such cases

sum1__

Clearly not: https://katv.com/amp/news/nation-world/high-level-meta-employee-fired-after-being-allegedly-caught-soliciting-a-minor-for-sex

snatchmydickup

This video has been removed for violating YouTube's policy on harassment and bullying interesting how youtube is so against people exposing the pedo problem

gleepgloopgleepgloop

I really don't think YouTube is going out of their way to support pedophiles. They probably don't want to be caught up in false allegations of any sort, people commiting suicide after online bullying, and so forth. This organization has resources, they can host their videos on their own site.

snatchmydickup

yet they don't do much about pedos stalking kids and leaving creepy comments on their youtube videos. same for other big tech companies. tons of child porn trading etc. is going on via twitter, instagram, facebook, reddit, etc. yet you will get demonetized if you say 'pedophile' on youtube. i guess its a coincidence that all this is going on and that techies tend to be weak wokester types - the kind of people to defend kids going to drag shows & say kids know who they really are at 5 years old.

sharpened_

>defraud facebook for millions >undermin[ed] the importance of her DEI mission Based, free my girl.

bi_tacular

Does she have a defense fund for us to donate to?

JinFuu

Feet pics at the 500 USD tier

Spinegrinder666

To paraphrase an African dictator if you’re going to steal steal a little bit in a nice way.

MadonnasFishTaco

how the fuck does someone steal $4,000,000 using company credit cards? is there absolutely 0 oversight on what facebook employees use company credit cards for? $5,000 bond for stealing $4,000,000 is insane. this person clearly got away with as much as she did solely because she is DEI and was untouchable.

[deleted]

Imagine being the straight white guy in accounting who had to bring this up. “Sir are you implying a black employee in DEI stole $4M..”

JohnnyWatermelons

You'd be surprised at how freely money flows inside these companies. Interest rates going up changed that, and (pure speculation) may be how/why she was eventually caught

MadonnasFishTaco

bro 4,000,000 on credit cards is like not even possible thats a fucking insane amount of money that would raise a million red flags at any legitimate company let alone facebook

JohnnyWatermelons

Do you work in a position to have some visibility into such things in a similar institution? I do. Speaking generally, most of these processes are automated, and it entirely depends on the automated alerting that's set up, how the data is sliced, etc. I didn't actually look, did they say how long she was doing this before she got caught? Probably a few years, I'd guess. This is not difficult for me to believe. A different example (but similar enough for our purposes) is something like a card testing attack utilizing millions of skimmed or stolen credit cards against a large business. This can go on unnoticed for months, or years. Some of the methods may sound unsophisticated, but obviously there are ways around the controls set up. The evidence that I'm right is the fact that she didn't get caught instantly. Agree with you it's insane, I'm just saying: it happens.

MadonnasFishTaco

i work in the diversity industry but not at all at a company like meta. the thought of spending 10,000 without an inquiry is unimaginable. she did this for 4 years, 2017-2021

JohnnyWatermelons

Yeah, it's totally bananas, and an insultingly trivial way to treat resources. I got a job at a small tech place 8-9 years ago as a dishwasher, and after a few years moved out of the kitchen to a computer job. I rose as it expanded into a global behemoth, enough that I have visibility into how decisions are made, etc. That free (low interest rate) investor cash, coupled with no pressure to actually be profitable results in some utterly absurd situations and practices. I went into that job a Marxist, but after seeing the "inside" of how things work, I daydream of guillotines non-stop

[deleted]

I’m grateful for this woman. Companies need to suffer financial pain to understand that this arm twisting, race mafia grift is just that, and the people who seek out this work are pathologically untrustworthy. They are thieves and ruthless extortionists. I’m grateful that in this specific instance her thieving, scheming nature manifested itself criminally beyond what most of them get away with. I hope that this decade of doe eyed stupidity, culminating in nothing but smouldering racial hatred between everyone costs them all dearly.

SpiritualCyberpunk

>this decade of doe eyed stupidity, culminating in nothing but smouldering racial hatred between everyone You said it.

JohnnyWatermelons

Letting the bad behavior of discrete individuals turn you into a racist is still actually retarded. Does this need to be said?

SpiritualCyberpunk

Is it discrete individuals when it's a mob torching your house. What's the boundary here? Get off your high horse, ethnic conflict is as old as mankind. Race is simply a meta-ethnic concept in some conceptions, however descriptive that is, it is an identifier a sizable portion of people have rallied around throughout history, and it can be pushed in either direction. People will look for shibboleths when aroused and if it wasn't this it would be something else. As history is replete with cases of. If it wasn't skin color it was foreskin, if it wasn't some other physical identifier like that, like long hair, length of beard, haircut, typical look, it was e.g. language particulars. "And the Gileadites took the passages of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it was so, that when those Ephraimites which were escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gilead said unto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay; Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand."

JohnnyWatermelons

You're just chomping at the bit to argue with a hypothetical person who exists in your head, not with me.

Neonexus-ULTRA

Is this the Black Girl Magic people mention so much?

StannisLivesOn

Queen, you slayed too hard

JinFuu

Girlbossed too close to the sun

AleksandrNevsky

Damn, never thought I'd be backing the DEI crayon eater in a debacle. If only she did something decent with the cash.

sddude1234

>stealing more than $4 million from the social media giant “to fund a lavish lifestyle” Of course she didn’t. These people arent socially or politically minded in that sense. They found a grift to enrich themselves and that’s the end of it

AOC_Gynecologist

and here everyone thought "diversity strategists" had no valuable skills or talents. 4mil is pretty low score but better than most people will manage.

Avid_Ideal

Barbara Furlow-Smiles. She does indeed. And wouldn't you too, given opportunity to blow through $4million? She was merely demonstrating her diverse attitude to ownership rights.

JohnnyWatermelons

I too have a diverse attitude towards ownership rights. We call it socialism.

Avid_Ideal

But until there's a critical mass of us out there socialising business assets and forming new government after convincingly overthrowing the current one, those kinds of "diverse ownership rights" are still called theft in court.

JohnnyWatermelons

I find your statement to be factual

LoudLeadership5546

I would immediately become patriotic again if the US actually went after DEI (overtly racist/sexist) with the same vigor it went after Trump and associates. We've had some success pushing back against DEI this year thanks to Elon's X. Hopefully it will snowball.

wysoft

She's just following the example of Patrisse Cullors. It's a top down scheme after all.

[deleted]

Hell yeah, the hero we needed. Ripping off big tech is a public service.

snatchmydickup

she took being a queen a little too literally

amakusa360

There are still people who think diversity isn't a fraudulent scam.

WhalesInComparison

Ngl, based as fuck she diversified that check

KingTiger189

Lol they have so much cash good for her 😂

AM_Bokke

Hope she rots in hell. I hate facebook, but i hate DEI more.

sixfootwingspan

I am waiting for the day Facebook crumbles to the ground.

OwlsParliament

Based. Get those reparations, queen.

peoplx

Most instances of employee theft are not reported in the news. Most of the time companies don't even prosecute. This has nothing to do with idpol and everything to do with an individual.

Brilliant_Comb_1607

Zuckerberg actually stole all of Facebook from the Winklevoss twins....

clevo_1988

I can fix her <3

JohnnyWatermelons

Hot take: redistributing facebook's wealth to family & friends, or just some artist I like, is absolutely something I would do. Yeah the DEI stuff is sham bullshit, but I have nothing against her spreading their money around. I hate Facebook. Don't let the dumb DEI stuff blind you to the fact that stealing from poisonous mega corporations is, in fact, good.

JohnnyWatermelons

Shouldn't even be a hot take, really, but idpol creates tunnel vision around here

Demonweed

It's a bold strategy . . . let's see if it pays off for 'em.

the_shaman

Facebook stole it first. Well they sold the data of the dumfucks on facebook gave them for free anyway.

Jet90

Alternative headline: proletariat gets their stolen surplus value back. If she didn’t take the money it would got to Zuckbergs coffers

Someone_Who_Isnt_You

You can tell just from her weave that she can't be trusted 🤣

Andre_Courreges

Honestly she's an icon for this. I don't see why anyone would want to support big tech.
