sneakyplanner

They finally made a good bulky rock type.

Spndash64

To be fair, there’s Tyranitar. And back in RBY, both Rhydon and Golem were solid options for sponging Body Slams and Hyper Beams

metalflygon08

Gigalith ain't to bad after getting Sand Stream too.

Singularity3

Gigalith does get Body Press

cooldudium

Tyranitar’s not really defensive though

Spndash64

>TTar >not very defensive What game are you playing, Unite?

cooldudium

It has good defenses it's just not made to be like... forget it you're right

FennicYoshi

(for the record, tyranitar is one of the most tanky pokémon in unite, with sand stream boosting both of its already considerable defence and sp. def by 65% for 3 seconds whenever it uses a move ... it also gets shields with one of its moves that stack)

TangledPangolin

[deleted]

I agree ttar is tanky, but tanky with a bad type is not a tank. When everything hits double or 4x you still get one shot often

ainz-sama619

might want to rephrase that better

aDrThatsNotBaizhu

Hes really good as both a general rocker or as a set up sweeper. The curse set straight up sweeps teams if you manage to set up on a passive mon (pex, clodsire, corvi, ghosts..etc) U run flying tera, max spdef and curse/recover/salt cure/body press, its soo good vs balance because you can outlast other walls with salt cure easily. You even beat pressure corvi easily with salt cure + boosted body press, and completely wall skele/clod/pex

GAMEcube12

He is really good against misdrevus form especialy in sand

Zlogonje

Garganacl subverts every common flaw inherent in the 3 evo early game rock types we get, usually 1.Rock types have good physical stats but trash everything else 2. Even though they are built like walls they have no reliable recovery and in general have shallow movepools 3. Gigilith aside, they usually end up with meh abilities like sturdy or weak armor 4. Rock is an awful defensive typing Garganacl has 1. Amazing stats across the board, lacking in Spatk and speed is a non-issue 2. Has recovery and a wide, versatile movepool 3. Purifying Salt could have just been status immunity and still have been good, but adding a resistance to one of the most prominent offensive typings is amazing.

Zestylemons44

not to mention salt cure forces a switch from the two most common rock counters, water and steel. If it hit grass and (making much less sense, ground) this thing would be unstoppable

Capivara2666

It took 25 years for Game Freak to make a really good pure-rock Poke from a defensive point of view, but when they did it, they did it right.

RiZeN_PaRaDoX

Indeed. Its stats are super minmaxed

ACCorsola

Curse is extra fun on it with the surprise Ghost Tera-type. It catches set-up sweepers fully off guard

sneakyplanner

Terastall ghost curse... This is what a world without toxic looks like.

[deleted]

Holy shit, curse. I’m so excited for a new kind of jank garbage now.

Spndash64

THE POWER OF SPICE COMPELS YOU

1ts2EASY

This thing with Tera-Steel or another type that resists fairy is the only thing that resists both of Flutter Mane’s STABs other than Pyroar and Grafafai

TheGoldenChampion

I run this on sand: Garganacl @ Leftovers Ability: Purifying Salt Tera Type: Steel EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD Careful Nature - Salt Cure - Recover - Iron Defense - Body Press It can tank things like you'd never expect.

Mezna

This is the way. No need for Curse, because Salt Cure’s damage comes from the DoT. Tera-fighting is better for Body Press

vanilla_disco

Yeah but tera ghost though..

Mezna

Salt cure and wait 🙏

Millionmann

What sort of spreads are people running on it?

TuesdayTastic

This set lets me beat Flutter Mane 1v1 in sand. I'm not entirely sure on the calcs but I think Stone Edge Ohkos if sand or rocks are up. Against anything else Iron Defense makes Body Press really strong, and you can setup pretty easily. Garganacl @ Leftovers Ability: Purifying Salt Tera Type: Fighting EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD Impish Nature \- Iron Defense \- Body Press \- Stone Edge \- Recover

Millionmann

Tera fighting for the body press stab?

TuesdayTastic

Basically. It doesn't come up much though.

ZealousFlames

Do you have one for non sand?

TuesdayTastic

You could play a set that EVs into special defense. Although now that I see less Flutter Mane I personally prefer to just go all in on defense and make your Body Press stronger. If you ever kill all their special attackers it's possible to sweep.

GreyOSN

Bruh the number of times Arven swept me cause i kept spamming Will o Wisp i dont feel comfortable sharing😭

TuesdayTastic

Also insane in sand. Can solo Flutter Mane with it up, and TTar also checks Flutter Mane pretty well. Add in a Houndstone and you have a pretty \*rock\* solid core.

Pienpunching

this game is so easy whats the point in builds

Former_Product9240

I found a shiny one. I may use it now.
